yo rayivo rayiṃtamo yo dyumnairdyumnavattamaḥ somaḥ sutaḥ sa indra te'sti svadhāpate madaḥ
He who is the finest of streams, who is most radiant among the heavens—Soma, the nourished one, is thy Indra; to thee is the draught of strength.

He who is the brimming, supremely flowing, thy wealth, the giver of thoughts—Soma, the nourished one, is thy Indra; to thee the draught of strength.

By whom the aged is not weakened, nor the youthful abashed by his own prowess—Soma, the nourished one, is thy Indra; to thee the draught of strength.

I declare to you this unseized thing: O Lord of the dead, Indra of all trusts, the man mighty among men, the wielder of universal striking.

yaṃ vardhayantīdgiraḥ patiṃ turasya rādhasaḥ taminnvasya rodasī devī śuṣmaṃ saparyataḥ
May the mountains that increase him, the lord of the swift chariot, make him vigorous; O goddess of the dew, give him soft, abundant care.

tadva ukthasya barhaṇendrāyopastṛṇīṣaṇi vipo na yasyotayo vi yadrohanti sakṣitaḥ
That which is of the hymn, at the great sacrifice, Indra holds threefold; kings who do not rise against it are guarded by him who watches over paths.

avidaddakṣaṃ mitro navīyānpapāno devebhyo vasyo acait sasavānstaulābhirdhautarībhiruruṣyā pāyurabhavatsakhibhyaḥ
Unknowing of skill, Mitra the renewed, guilty to the gods, held no mastery; the living brought increase with generous hosts, yielding waters to friends.

ऋ॒तस्य॑ प॒थि वे॒धा अ॑पायि श्रि॒ये मनां॑सि दे॒वासो॑ अक्रन् । दधा॑नो॒ नाम॑ म॒हो वचो॑भि॒र्वपु॑र्दृ॒शये॑ वे॒न्यो व्या॑वः
ṛtasya pathi vedhā apāyi śriye manāṃsi devāso akran dadhāno nāma maho vacobhirvapurdṛśaye venyo vyāvaḥ
They revealed the paths of Rta; the gods placed treasure in the mind for prosperity. The great name of speech gave form and sight—Vena was widespread.

द्यु॒मत्त॑मं॒ दक्षं॑ धेह्य॒स्मे सेधा॒ जना॑नां पू॒र्वीररा॑तीः । वर्षी॑यो॒ वयः॑ कृणुहि॒ शची॑भि॒र्धन॑स्य सा॒ताव॒स्माँ अ॑विड्ढि
dyumattamaṃ dakṣaṃ dhehyasme sedhā janānāṃ pūrvīrarātīḥ varṣīyo vayaḥ kṛṇuhi śacībhirdhanasya sātāvasmām̐ aviḍḍhi
Make the highest radiant, the dexterous among men, like the ancient ones of former peoples. May the youthful rains be granted; grant us steadfastness with the strong ones.

indra tubhyaminmaghavannabhūma vayaṃ dātre harivo mā vi venaḥ nakirāpirdadṛśe martyatrā kimaṅga radhracodanaṃ tvāhuḥ
Indra, with liberal mind bring us beneath the earth’s surface; O giver, do not let offences come near. For mortals have seen the unclean—what grief, they say, at the noisy striking?

mā jasvane vṛṣabha no rarīthā mā te revataḥ sakhye riṣāma pūrvīṣṭa indra niṣṣidho janeṣu jahyasuṣvīnpra vṛhāpṛṇataḥ
Do not let the bull (might) in contest vanquish us; do not let friendship fall away from thy companions. Formerly invoked, Indra restrained among people; O gentle leader, make them leapers by mighty favor.

udabhrāṇīva stanayanniyartīndro rādhāṃsyaśvyāni gavyā tvamasi pradivaḥ kārudhāyā mā tvādāmāna ā dabhanmaghonaḥ
Like clouds pressing milk from the breasts, Indra poured forth the milky black cows. You are the earthly expander of praise; do not let the slanderers abase you, O much-sipped one of heroes.

adhvaryo vīra pra mahe sutānāmindrāya bhara sa hyasya rājā yaḥ pūrvyābhiruta nūtanābhirgīrbhirvāvṛdhe gṛṇatāmṛṣīṇām
O mighty leader, the nourisher of heroes, the lord of the abundant—praise him who has been early and new, who strengthened by old and young bards and by sages.

अ॒स्य मदे॑ पु॒रु वर्पां॑सि वि॒द्वानिन्द्रो॑ वृ॒त्राण्य॑प्र॒ती ज॑घान । तमु॒ प्र हो॑षि॒ मधु॑मन्तमस्मै॒ सोमं॑ वी॒राय॑ शि॒प्रिणे॒ पिब॑ध्यै
asya made puru varpāṃsi vidvānindro vṛtrāṇyapratī jaghāna tamu pra hoṣi madhumantamasmai somaṃ vīrāya śipriṇe pibadhyai
In his drink didst thou, O Indra, gain mighty manly might; the wise Indra smote the hostile Vrtras without delay. Therefore rejoice him with the honeyed Soma, quick-imbiber, let him drink for the hero.

पाता॑ सु॒तमिन्द्रो॑ अस्तु॒ सोमं॒ हन्ता॑ वृ॒त्रं वज्रे॑ण मन्दसा॒नः । गन्ता॑ य॒ज्ञं प॑रा॒वत॑श्चि॒दच्छा॒ वसु॑र्धी॒नाम॑वि॒ता का॒रुधा॑याः
pātā sutamindro astu somaṃ hantā vṛtraṃ vajreṇa mandasānaḥ gantā yajñaṃ parāvataścidacchā vasurdhīnāmavitā kārudhāyāḥ
May Indra, slayer of foes, pour Soma for the offspring; with his thunderbolt he struck Vṛtra down, the one of slender strength. He, the goer, brought the sacrificial draught from far away; the Vasus, guardians of riches, with wise minds fashioned it for the ritual.

इ॒दं त्यत्पात्र॑मिन्द्र॒पान॒मिन्द्र॑स्य प्रि॒यम॒मृत॑मपायि । मत्स॒द्यथा॑ सौमन॒साय॑ दे॒वं व्य१॒॑स्मद्द्वेषो॑ यु॒यव॒द्व्यंहः॑
idaṃ tyatpātramindrapānamindrasya priyamamṛtamapāyi matsadyathā saumanasāya devaṃ vya1smaddveṣo yuyavadvyaṃhaḥ
This cup of Indra’s draught yielded the beloved nectar to Indra; like a fish in Soma’s stream he delighted the god. Hostile hate fled from him like one who is crushed.

enā mandāno jahi śūra śatrūñjāmimajāmiṃ maghavannamitrān abhiṣeṇām̐ abhyā3dediśānānparāca indra pra mṛṇā jahī ca
Slay the foolish one, O brave hero; destroy the hostile born of might, O Mṛgaván; with oblation and burnished offering cast down the malicious; Indra has smitten the foremost and killed the foe.

आ॒सु ष्मा॑ णो मघवन्निन्द्र पृ॒त्स्व१॒॑स्मभ्यं॒ महि॒ वरि॑वः सु॒गं कः॑ । अ॒पां तो॒कस्य॒ तन॑यस्य जे॒ष इन्द्र॑ सू॒रीन्कृ॑णु॒हि स्मा॑ नो अ॒र्धम्
āsu ṣmā ṇo maghavannindra pṛtsva1smabhyaṃ mahi varivaḥ sugaṃ kaḥ apāṃ tokasya tanayasya jeṣa indra sūrīnkṛṇuhi smā no ardham
May Indra, our mighty friend, grant us treasures, great and abundant; who is better than the bringer of waters? May Indra, maker of heroes, grant us half the strength of that well-born son of the stream—best of the surging waters.

आ त्वा॒ हर॑यो॒ वृष॑णो युजा॒ना वृष॑रथासो॒ वृष॑रश्म॒योऽत्याः॑ । अ॒स्म॒त्राञ्चो॒ वृष॑णो वज्र॒वाहो॒ वृष्णे॒ मदा॑य सु॒युजो॑ वहन्तु
ā tvā harayo vṛṣaṇo yujānā vṛṣarathāso vṛṣaraśmayo'tyāḥ asmatrāñco vṛṣaṇo vajravāho vṛṣṇe madāya suyujo vahantu
Bring the bulls, yoked together, O harnessed chariot-bearers, the strong-beamed bulls that excel; let the bull-drivers carry them with might, joining in joyous union to bear the pride of strength.

आ ते॑ वृष॒न्वृष॑णो॒ द्रोण॑मस्थुर्घृत॒प्रुषो॒ नोर्मयो॒ मद॑न्तः । इन्द्र॒ प्र तुभ्यं॒ वृष॑भिः सु॒तानां॒ वृष्णे॑ भरन्ति वृष॒भाय॒ सोम॑म्
ā te vṛṣanvṛṣaṇo droṇamasthurghṛtapruṣo normayo madantaḥ indra pra tubhyaṃ vṛṣabhiḥ sutānāṃ vṛṣṇe bharanti vṛṣabhāya somam
May bulls for you and bulls for us stand firm, the full-chested, fat-limbed, bringing us strength and joy. As bulls pour soma into the cows, may they bring Soma to the bulls, bearing it for the bulls.

वृषा॑सि दि॒वो वृ॑ष॒भः पृ॑थि॒व्या वृषा॒ सिन्धू॑नां वृष॒भः स्तिया॑नाम् । वृष्णे॑ त॒ इन्दु॑र्वृषभ पीपाय स्वा॒दू रसो॑ मधु॒पेयो॒ वरा॑य
vṛṣāsi divo vṛṣabhaḥ pṛthivyā vṛṣā sindhūnāṃ vṛṣabhaḥ stiyānām vṛṣṇe ta indurvṛṣabha pīpāya svādū raso madhupeyo varāya
Bull of the sky art thou, bull of the earth; bull of the rivers art thou, lord of streams. For the bull Indu bring sweet savour, honeyed juice, the best drink.

ayaṃ devaḥ sahasā jāyamāna indreṇa yujā paṇimastabhāyat ayaṃ svasya piturāyudhānīnduramuṣṇādaśivasya māyāḥ
This god was born suddenly; Indra joined his hand in friendship. He is the weapon and heir of his father, a bearer of fair glory, a wonder from the power of Māyā.

अ॒यम॑कृणोदु॒षसः॑ सु॒पत्नी॑र॒यं सूर्ये॑ अदधा॒ज्ज्योति॑र॒न्तः । अ॒यं त्रि॒धातु॑ दि॒वि रो॑च॒नेषु॑ त्रि॒तेषु॑ विन्दद॒मृतं॒ निगू॑ळ्हम्
ayamakṛṇoduṣasaḥ supatnīrayaṃ sūrye adadhājjyotirantaḥ ayaṃ tridhātu divi rocaneṣu triteṣu vindadamṛtaṃ nigūḷham
He made the impure pure, the sleep-bound awake; he placed light within the Sun. He, thrice-formed in the heavens, found hidden immortality among the splendid realms of radiance.

अ॒यं द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी वि ष्क॑भायद॒यं रथ॑मयुनक्स॒प्तर॑श्मिम् । अ॒यं गोषु॒ शच्या॑ प॒क्वम॒न्तः सोमो॑ दाधार॒ दश॑यन्त्र॒मुत्स॑म्
ayaṃ dyāvāpṛthivī vi ṣkabhāyadayaṃ rathamayunaksaptaraśmim ayaṃ goṣu śacyā pakvamantaḥ somo dādhāra daśayantramutsam
This sky and earth became his; this chariot with seven rays yoked the steeds. This Soma held firm within the cows as ripened milk; he sustained the tenfold equipment and poured forth.
