You, Agni, are the priest of sacrifices, beneficial to all; among gods and men you are honored.

They bound you like a path‑leading bull, conquering the hostile, bringing wealth and victory in battle.

Uprising Agni, the Bharata flashed in the sky with radiant light; he lamented the outer aging one.

When the mortal calls the god with force, he brings Agni home; the sacrificer, the Hotṛ, the true worshipper, may he invoke the oblation, may he call aloud.

agniṃ devāso agriyamindhate vṛtrahantamam yenā vasūnyābhṛtā tṛḷhā rakṣāṃsi vājinā
Agni, the divine one, you are set before the gods; you slay the Vrtra-slayer. By whom riches are borne and grasses kept, protect the cattle and wealth.
