parīto ṣiñcatā sutaṃ somo ya uttamaṃ haviḥ dadhanvām̐ yo naryo apsva1ntarā suṣāva somamadribhiḥ
Let Soma be sprinkled around as the highest offering, poured about the best oblation; he who from men draws forth the juice in inner waters, Soma with gifts of mountain streams.

Truly the flowing waters, enveloping and full, spread fragrance among the deities; having borne offspring and drunk the floods, intoxicated, they went upward with mighty cows.

Around him shone the brilliant-eyed, the god-receiver, the mind-endowed knower of rites — the brilliant-sighted one who perceived Indra’s strength.

The waters of the kine, Soma with their stream, the dwellers in wealth through sacred law; O possessors of gems, the womb of the immortal seat — may the golden gods be settled.

duhāna ūdhardivyaṃ madhu priyaṃ pratnaṃ sadhasthamāsadat āpṛcchyaṃ dharuṇaṃ vājyarṣati nṛbhirdhūto vicakṣaṇaḥ
They poured the heavenly sweet the divine honey, the loving draught, the agreeable, established in rite. Asking, they stirred the earth; the possessors of wealth moved it among men — the bright ones perceived.

Soma, with streams, awoke, heroic, freely moving, dear around. O Angiras, you became a priestly seer; press upon our sacrifice with sweet thought.

somo mīḍhvānpavate gātuvittama ṛṣirvipro vicakṣaṇaḥ tvaṃ kavirabhavo devavītama ā sūryaṃ rohayo divi
Soma, giver of strength, the sage-knower of song moves; the priestly seer perceived. You became a poet, a godlike hero; drive the sun to rise in the sky.

soma u ṣuvāṇaḥ sotṛbhiradhi ṣṇubhiravīnām aśvayeva haritā yāti dhārayā mandrayā yāti dhārayā
Soma went with lovely flows, with channels and warm streams, like a horse he moves greenly; by the strong current he moves with the gentle course.

anūpe gomāngobhirakṣāḥ somo dugdhābhirakṣāḥ samudraṃ na saṃvaraṇānyagmanmandī madāya tośate
Cows went with cows in rows; Soma guarded by milk streams. The sea did not restrain them; the feeble one rejoices in pride.

ā soma suvāno adribhistiro vārāṇyavyayā jano na puri camvorviśaddhariḥ sado vaneṣu dadhiṣe
That Soma, brilliant, from the hills with steadfast streams, through the wilderness of the woods moved. People in the city and the bright-armed purifier dwell; he placed them in the good forests.

sa māmṛje tiro aṇvāni meṣyo mīḷhe saptirna vājayuḥ anumādyaḥ pavamāno manīṣibhiḥ somo viprebhirṛkvabhiḥ
May he set me on the lean banks, with sheep and seven steeds, not lacking vigor. Moving on, the purifier, with wise priests, Soma with priestly seers and rites.

pra soma devavītaye sindhurna pipye arṇasā aṃśoḥ payasā madiro na jāgṛviracchā kośaṃ madhuścutam
May Soma for the godly seat not crave the flood from the river. From the share of milk, from strong drink do not awake the vessel — the honey-drinking chest.

ā haryato arjune atke avyata priyaḥ sūnurna marjyaḥ tamīṃ hinvantyapaso yathā rathaṃ nadīṣvā gabhastyoḥ
O Arjuna-born, the plunderer of enemies, your dear son is not to be struck down. The waters destroy darkness like a chariot in rivers between banks.

abhi somāsa āyavaḥ pavante madyaṃ madam samudrasyādhi viṣṭapi manīṣiṇo matsarāsaḥ svarvidaḥ
From Soma the length of life flows, the purifying drink, the strong sweetness. The thinkers, envious of the sea’s breadth, the wise cherish the lofty ones.

तर॑त्समु॒द्रं पव॑मान ऊ॒र्मिणा॒ राजा॑ दे॒व ऋ॒तं बृ॒हत् । अर्ष॑न्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ धर्म॑णा॒ प्र हि॑न्वा॒न ऋ॒तं बृ॒हत्
taratsamudraṃ pavamāna ūrmiṇā rājā deva ṛtaṃ bṛhat arṣanmitrasya varuṇasya dharmaṇā pra hinvāna ṛtaṃ bṛhat
The purifier stretches the sea with waves; the godlike king widened the cosmic law. From the seer of Mitra and Varuna, by righteous rule he extended the great order.

Among men these streams, harvesters of tribute, the bright perceiver, the king, the god, the ocean-like one.

indrāya pavate madaḥ somo marutvate sutaḥ sahasradhāro atyavyamarṣati tamī mṛjantyāyavaḥ
Soma offers strength to Indra; he delights maruts. Thousand-bearing he pours forth unfaltering; the waters cleanse with genial streams.

punānaścamū janayanmatiṃ kaviḥ somo deveṣu raṇyati apo vasānaḥ pari gobhiruttaraḥ sīdanvaneṣvavyata
The purifying ones engender thought; the seer Soma rejoices among the gods. Waters dwell in riches, beyond the cows, seat them in the woods.

tavāhaṃ soma rāraṇa sakhya indo divedive purūṇi babhro ni caranti māmava paridhīm̐rati tām̐ ihi
I, Soma, set you as companion of Indra in the heavens by day. Full streams wander around me; they encompass me — come here.

utāhaṃ naktamuta soma te divā sakhyāya babhra ūdhani ghṛṇā tapantamati sūryaṃ paraḥ śakunā iva paptima
As by night and dawn I am yours, Soma, by day companion, they bear upward. The sun scorching, beyond, like a shaft, attains its prize.

mṛjyamānaḥ suhastya samudre vācaminvasi rayiṃ piśaṅgaṃ bahulaṃ puruspṛhaṃ pavamānābhyarṣasi
Speaking with good hands in the sea you draw speech. You attained the abundant relish, the desire of many people, the purifier, approaching.

मृ॒जा॒नो वारे॒ पव॑मानो अ॒व्यये॒ वृषाव॑ चक्रदो॒ वने॑ । दे॒वानां॑ सोम पवमान निष्कृ॒तं गोभि॑रञ्जा॒नो अ॑र्षसि
mṛjāno vāre pavamāno avyaye vṛṣāva cakrado vane devānāṃ soma pavamāna niṣkṛtaṃ gobhirañjāno arṣasi
Like milch‑cows pouring, the pure one, ever‑un‑decaying, made the kine move in the forest. For the gods Soma, the purifying, brought forth what was separated, with the rich cows he yoked them.

pavasva vājasātaye'bhi viśvāni kāvyā tvaṃ samudraṃ prathamo vi dhārayo devebhyaḥ soma matsaraḥ
You, purifier of the stall, power of strength for all the hymns: you first held the ocean for the gods, O Soma, the jealous one.

sa tū pavasva pari pārthivaṃ rajo divyā ca soma dharmabhiḥ tvāṃ viprāso matibhirvicakṣaṇa śubhraṃ hinvanti dhītibhiḥ
But you, purifier, encircled the earthly realm, divine Soma, with duties of light. The priests with wise counsels and discriminating thoughts extol your bright mind with intellects.

Being purified you have guarded the holy by your stream of bearing. The eager winds, O Indra‑like, with lively senses, press upon my wisdom and efforts.

अ॒पो वसा॑नः॒ परि॒ कोश॑मर्ष॒तीन्दु॑र्हिया॒नः सो॒तृभिः॑ । ज॒नय॒ञ्ज्योति॑र्म॒न्दना॑ अवीवश॒द्गाः कृ॑ण्वा॒नो न नि॒र्णिज॑म्
apo vasānaḥ pari kośamarṣatīndurhiyānaḥ sotṛbhiḥ janayañjyotirmandanā avīvaśadgāḥ kṛṇvāno na nirṇijam
Waters, the dwellers, encircle the womb‑store; the moon‑like ones, with channels, by their streams. They generated a faint light; cattle lowed, making not the dew‑drop faint.
