इन्द्रं॑ स्तवा॒ नृत॑मं॒ यस्य॑ म॒ह्ना वि॑बबा॒धे रो॑च॒ना वि ज्मो अन्ता॑न् । आ यः प॒प्रौ च॑र्षणी॒धृद्वरो॑भिः॒ प्र सिन्धु॑भ्यो रिरिचा॒नो म॑हि॒त्वा
indraṃ stavā nṛtamaṃ yasya mahnā vibabādhe rocanā vi jmo antān ā yaḥ paprau carṣaṇīdhṛdvarobhiḥ pra sindhubhyo riricāno mahitvā
Praise Indra with a dance-song, he whose great fame broke the shining bonds at the ends of light. He who went forth with eager young steeds, conquering the floods of the Sindhu with valorous might.

स सूर्यः॒ पर्यु॒रू वरां॒स्येन्द्रो॑ ववृत्या॒द्रथ्ये॑व च॒क्रा । अति॑ष्ठन्तमप॒स्यं१॒॑ न सर्गं॑ कृ॒ष्णा तमां॑सि॒ त्विष्या॑ जघान
sa sūryaḥ paryurū varāṃsyendro vavṛtyādrathyeva cakrā atiṣṭhantamapasyaṃ1 na sargaṃ kṛṣṇā tamāṃsi tviṣyā jaghāna
That Sun rolled round; Indra, with his vigour, turned the wheel; Krishna (the dark one) struck him who saw not, and the mighty thunderer smote the shining one.

स॒मा॒नम॑स्मा॒ अन॑पावृदर्च क्ष्म॒या दि॒वो अस॑मं॒ ब्रह्म॒ नव्य॑म् । वि यः पृ॒ष्ठेव॒ जनि॑मान्य॒र्य इन्द्र॑श्चि॒काय॒ न सखा॑यमी॒षे
samānamasmā anapāvṛdarca kṣmayā divo asamaṃ brahma navyam vi yaḥ pṛṣṭheva janimānyarya indraścikāya na sakhāyamīṣe
Equal to us, he opened not the vault; he, the purifier, made the new heaven; he, like the back, begat the people — Indra fashioned not a rival.

indrāya giro aniśitasargā apaḥ prerayaṃ sagarasya budhnāt yo akṣeṇeva cakriyā śacībhirviṣvaktastambha pṛthivīmuta dyām
Indra, speech-born, urged waters; he made them mighty in the sea. With his eye he wrought the wheel; with Shachi’s might he spread the heavens and set firm earth and sky.

आपा॑न्तमन्युस्तृ॒पल॑प्रभर्मा॒ धुनिः॒ शिमी॑वा॒ञ्छरु॑माँ ऋजी॒षी । सोमो॒ विश्वा॑न्यत॒सा वना॑नि॒ नार्वागिन्द्रं॑ प्रति॒माना॑नि देभुः
āpāntamanyustṛpalaprabharmā dhuniḥ śimīvāñcharumām̐ ṛjīṣī somo viśvānyatasā vanāni nārvāgindraṃ pratimānāni debhuḥ
The waters’ boundaries, the bow-bearing Thunderer, the singer of hymns, the bright one who desires complete growth — Soma made all the forests, the streams, and sent forth Indra’s glories among the peoples.

न यस्य॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी न धन्व॒ नान्तरि॑क्षं॒ नाद्र॑यः॒ सोमो॑ अक्षाः । यद॑स्य म॒न्युर॑धिनी॒यमा॑नः शृ॒णाति॑ वी॒ळु रु॒जति॑ स्थि॒राणि॑
na yasya dyāvāpṛthivī na dhanva nāntarikṣaṃ nādrayaḥ somo akṣāḥ yadasya manyuradhinīyamānaḥ śaṛṇāti vīḷu rujati sthirāṇi
There is nothing that is not his — not heaven and earth, not bow, not mid-air, not the waters: Soma’s rays are the eyes. When his mind looks down and hears, the strong ones stand firm.

ज॒घान॑ वृ॒त्रं स्वधि॑ति॒र्वने॑व रु॒रोज॒ पुरो॒ अर॑द॒न्न सिन्धू॑न् । बि॒भेद॑ गि॒रिं नव॒मिन्न कु॒म्भमा गा इन्द्रो॑ अकृणुत स्व॒युग्भिः॑
jaghāna vṛtraṃ svadhitirvaneva ruroja puro aradanna sindhūn bibheda giriṃ navaminna kumbhamā gā indro akṛṇuta svayugbhiḥ
He smote Vritra and made the waters flow; in the forest the loud roaring advanced, rivers burst forth. He cleft the mountain; Indra made the new urn; with his own hosts he wrought the deed.

त्वं ह॒ त्यदृ॑ण॒या इ॑न्द्र॒ धीरो॒ऽसिर्न पर्व॑ वृजि॒ना शृ॑णासि । प्र ये मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ धाम॒ युजं॒ न जना॑ मि॒नन्ति॑ मि॒त्रम्
tvaṃ ha tyadṛṇayā indra dhīro'sirna parva vṛjinā śaṛṇāsi pra ye mitrasya varuṇasya dhāma yujaṃ na janā minanti mitram
You, brave Indra, are of that might; do not, with hostile strength, hearken to the mountain’s foes. For the gifts of Mitra and Varuna, the people do not scorn Mitra.

प्र ये मि॒त्रं प्रार्य॒मणं॑ दु॒रेवाः॒ प्र सं॒गिरः॒ प्र वरु॑णं मि॒नन्ति॑ । न्य१॒॑मित्रे॑षु व॒धमि॑न्द्र॒ तुम्रं॒ वृष॒न्वृषा॑णमरु॒षं शि॑शीहि
pra ye mitraṃ prāryamaṇaṃ durevāḥ pra saṃgiraḥ pra varuṇaṃ minanti nya1mitreṣu vadhamindra tumraṃ vṛṣanvṛṣāṇamaruṣaṃ śiśīhi
Those who praise Mitra afar, who praise Varuna and Mitra together — in hostile places Indra slays the foe; he smites the tawny, the bulls and roaring ones.

इन्द्रो॑ दि॒व इन्द्र॑ ईशे पृथि॒व्या इन्द्रो॑ अ॒पामिन्द्र॒ इत्पर्व॑तानाम् । इन्द्रो॑ वृ॒धामिन्द्र॒ इन्मेधि॑राणा॒मिन्द्रः॒ क्षेमे॒ योगे॒ हव्य॒ इन्द्रः॑
indro diva indra īśe pṛthivyā indro apāmindra itparvatānām indro vṛdhāmindra inmedhirāṇāmindraḥ kṣeme yoge havya indraḥ
Indra is lord of heaven, Indra is lord of earth, Indra is lord of waters, lord of mountains. Indra, growth-bestower, Indra of great thoughts, Indra in prosperous rites, Indra in sacrifice.

प्राक्तुभ्य॒ इन्द्रः॒ प्र वृ॒धो अह॑भ्यः॒ प्रान्तरि॑क्षा॒त्प्र स॑मु॒द्रस्य॑ धा॒सेः । प्र वात॑स्य॒ प्रथ॑सः॒ प्र ज्मो अन्ता॒त्प्र सिन्धु॑भ्यो रिरिचे॒ प्र क्षि॒तिभ्यः॑
prāktubhya indraḥ pra vṛdho ahabhyaḥ prāntarikṣātpra samudrasya dhāseḥ pra vātasya prathasaḥ pra jmo antātpra sindhubhyo ririce pra kṣitibhyaḥ
Before the dawn Indra, before the growth, from the mid-air, from the bursting sea; before the winds, before the droughts, before the streams, he rose from the oceans, from the realms, from the earths.

प्र शोशु॑चत्या उ॒षसो॒ न के॒तुर॑सि॒न्वा ते॑ वर्ततामिन्द्र हे॒तिः । अश्मे॑व विध्य दि॒व आ सृ॑जा॒नस्तपि॑ष्ठेन॒ हेष॑सा॒ द्रोघ॑मित्रान्
pra śośucatyā uṣaso na keturasinvā te vartatāmindra hetiḥ aśmeva vidhya diva ā sṛjānastapiṣṭhena heṣasā droghamitrān
For the bright one, O Indra, be not ignoble in the shining dawn; fashion like a stone the sky; the singer made his foes few by strength and uprooted traitors.

अन्वह॒ मासा॒ अन्विद्वना॒न्यन्वोष॑धी॒रनु॒ पर्व॑तासः । अन्विन्द्रं॒ रोद॑सी वावशा॒ने अन्वापो॑ अजिहत॒ जाय॑मानम्
anvaha māsā anvidvanānyanvoṣadhīranu parvatāsaḥ anvindraṃ rodasī vāvaśāne anvāpo ajihata jāyamānam
He followed the months, he followed herbs, the mountains; Indra followed the rainy ones, the waters struck and the calf was born.

कर्हि॑ स्वि॒त्सा त॑ इन्द्र चे॒त्यास॑द॒घस्य॒ यद्भि॒नदो॒ रक्ष॒ एष॑त् । मि॒त्र॒क्रुवो॒ यच्छस॑ने॒ न गावः॑ पृथि॒व्या आ॒पृग॑मु॒या शय॑न्ते
karhi svitsā ta indra cetyāsadaghasya yadbhinado rakṣa eṣat mitrakruvo yacchasane na gāvaḥ pṛthivyā āpṛgamuyā śayante
Where lies that which Indra called his own? When the breakers defended him, the ravager perished. The deed of Mitra did this: cattle were not lost from earth when waters lay down to rest.

श॒त्रू॒यन्तो॑ अ॒भि ये न॑स्तत॒स्रे महि॒ व्राध॑न्त ओग॒णास॑ इन्द्र । अ॒न्धेना॒मित्रा॒स्तम॑सा सचन्तां सुज्यो॒तिषो॑ अ॒क्तव॒स्ताँ अ॒भि ष्युः॑
śatrūyanto abhi ye nastatasre mahi vrādhanta ogaṇāsa indra andhenāmitrāstamasā sacantāṃ sujyotiṣo aktavastām̐ abhi ṣyuḥ
Enemies that came upon those three, growing mighty, increased the hosts, O Indra. Let not blind foes, darkness and the deadly, stand; may radiant ones overthrow them.

पु॒रूणि॒ हि त्वा॒ सव॑ना॒ जना॑नां॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि॒ मन्द॑न्गृण॒तामृषी॑णाम् । इ॒मामा॒घोष॒न्नव॑सा॒ सहू॑तिं ति॒रो विश्वा॒ँ अर्च॑तो याह्य॒र्वाङ्
purūṇi hi tvā savanā janānāṃ brahmāṇi mandangṛṇatāmṛṣīṇām imāmāghoṣannavasā sahūtiṃ tiro viśvām̐ arcato yāhyarvāṅ
Filling you are the people, the singers, the rishis praise; they invoke the call and the new hymn, offering poured libations, praising you across the world.

ए॒वा ते॑ व॒यमि॑न्द्र भुञ्जती॒नां वि॒द्याम॑ सुमती॒नां नवा॑नाम् । वि॒द्याम॒ वस्तो॒रव॑सा गृ॒णन्तो॑ वि॒श्वामि॑त्रा उ॒त त॑ इन्द्र नू॒नम्
evā te vayamindra bhuñjatīnāṃ vidyāma sumatīnāṃ navānām vidyāma vastoravasā gṛṇanto viśvāmitrā uta ta indra nūnam
Thus we share your bounty, Indra; I know the counsels of the wise and the new-formed. Wealth and plenty praising, Mighty friends and you are surely with us, O Indra.

शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ । शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम्
śunaṃ huvema maghavānamindramasminbhare nṛtamaṃ vājasātau śaṛṇvantamugramūtaye samatsu ghnantaṃ vṛtrāṇi saṃjitaṃ dhanānām
We invoke the swift, generous Indra in this place; in the pair of strength and wealth we sing. Hear us, O mighty one, destroyers of Vritra, vanquisher of foes, bring us spoils of riches.
