You, brave Indra, are of that might; do not, with hostile strength, hearken to the mountain’s foes. For the gifts of Mitra and Varuna, the people do not scorn Mitra.
You, Indra, who are wise, punish the guilt (of worshippers); you cut off their sins as a sword (cuts off)the limbs (of victims); (you cut off) the people who (ignorantly) injure the supporting (function) of Mitra, andVaruṇa, (which is) as it were their close friend.
Wise art thou, Punisher of guilt, O Indra. The sword lops limbs, thou smitest down the sinner, The men who injure, as it were a comrade, the lofty Law of Varuna and Mitra.
