स सूर्यः॒ पर्यु॒रू वरां॒स्येन्द्रो॑ ववृत्या॒द्रथ्ये॑व च॒क्रा । अति॑ष्ठन्तमप॒स्यं१॒॑ न सर्गं॑ कृ॒ष्णा तमां॑सि॒ त्विष्या॑ जघान
sa sūryaḥ paryurū varāṃsyendro vavṛtyādrathyeva cakrā atiṣṭhantamapasyaṃ1 na sargaṃ kṛṣṇā tamāṃsi tviṣyā jaghāna
That Sun rolled round; Indra, with his vigour, turned the wheel; Krishna (the dark one) struck him who saw not, and the mighty thunderer smote the shining one.
The heroic Indra causes numerous rays of light revolve as a charioteer (effects the rotation of) thewheels of the chariot; he destroys by his radiance the black darkness like a restless active horse.
Surya is he: throughout the wide expanses shall Indra turn him, swift as car-wheels, hither, Like a stream resting not but ever active he hath destroyed, with light, the blackhued darkness.
