कदि॒त्था नॄँः पात्रं॑ देवय॒तां श्रव॒द्गिरो॒ अङ्गि॑रसां तुर॒ण्यन् । प्र यदान॒ड्विश॒ आ ह॒र्म्यस्यो॒रु क्रं॑सते अध्व॒रे यज॑त्रः
kaditthā nṝm̐ḥ pātraṃ devayatāṃ śravadgiro aṅgirasāṃ turaṇyan pra yadānaḍviśa ā harmyasyoru kraṃsate adhvare yajatraḥ
How then may men make a vessel for the gods, the famed speech of Angiras when it rose? At the threshold the sacrificer’s voice rattles like a bellows.

स्तम्भी॑द्ध॒ द्यां स ध॒रुणं॑ प्रुषायदृ॒भुर्वाजा॑य॒ द्रवि॑णं॒ नरो॒ गोः । अनु॑ स्व॒जां म॑हि॒षश्च॑क्षत॒ व्रां मेना॒मश्व॑स्य॒ परि॑ मा॒तरं॒ गोः
stambhīddha dyāṃ sa dharuṇaṃ pruṣāyadṛbhurvājāya draviṇaṃ naro goḥ anu svajāṃ mahiṣaścakṣata vrāṃ menāmaśvasya pari mātaraṃ goḥ
He set up the firm heaven, the strong earth; he poured out wealth for heroic vigour, cows and men. He followed the cows, the great bulls saw, behold the mares of the steed around the mother of cows.

नक्ष॒द्धव॑मरु॒णीः पू॒र्व्यं राट् तु॒रो वि॒शामङ्गि॑रसा॒मनु॒ द्यून् । तक्ष॒द्वज्रं॒ नियु॑तं त॒स्तम्भ॒द्द्यां चतु॑ष्पदे॒ नर्या॑य द्वि॒पादे॑
nakṣaddhavamaruṇīḥ pūrvyaṃ rāṭ turo viśāmaṅgirasāmanu dyūn takṣadvajraṃ niyutaṃ tastambhaddyāṃ catuṣpade naryāya dvipāde
The star-quick Rudra, the eastern, uprose; the hero rushed with Angirases and yonder set the thunderbolt appointed, he fixed the columns of heaven four-footed, for men with two feet and with twofold law.

अ॒स्य मदे॑ स्व॒र्यं॑ दा ऋ॒तायापी॑वृतमु॒स्रिया॑णा॒मनी॑कम् । यद्ध॑ प्र॒सर्गे॑ त्रिक॒कुम्नि॒वर्त॒दप॒ द्रुहो॒ मानु॑षस्य॒ दुरो॑ वः
asya made svaryaṃ dā ṛtāyāpīvṛtamusriyāṇāmanīkam yaddha prasarge trikakumnivartadapa druho mānuṣasya duro vaḥ
From this pride he gave his voice to Ṛta, enveloped in measures of the maidens’ rites. When at the departure the threefold spring returned, human faithlessness turned aside from you.

तुभ्यं॒ पयो॒ यत्पि॒तरा॒वनी॑तां॒ राधः॑ सु॒रेत॑स्तु॒रणे॑ भुर॒ण्यू । शुचि॒ यत्ते॒ रेक्ण॒ आय॑जन्त सब॒र्दुघा॑याः॒ पय॑ उ॒स्रिया॑याः
tubhyaṃ payo yatpitarāvanītāṃ rādhaḥ suretasturaṇe bhuraṇyū śuci yatte rekṇa āyajanta sabardughāyāḥ paya usriyāyāḥ
For you is that milk which the fathers brought, sweet butter, the radiance that shines swiftly. Pure are the streams they milked for you, the rich milk for the cows.

अध॒ प्र ज॑ज्ञे त॒रणि॑र्ममत्तु॒ प्र रो॑च्य॒स्या उ॒षसो॒ न सूरः॑ । इन्दु॒र्येभि॒राष्ट॒ स्वेदु॑हव्यैः स्रु॒वेण॑ सि॒ञ्चञ्ज॒रणा॒भि धाम॑
adha pra jajñe taraṇirmamattu pra rocyasyā uṣaso na sūraḥ induryebhirāṣṭa sveduhavyaiḥ sruveṇa siñcañjaraṇābhi dhāma
Near the ford the cattle conceived, may they be cleansed in the bright dawn. For the bright ones, with sacred presses and eightfold offerings, may the rain be sprinkled unto the abodes.

svidhmā yadvanadhitirapasyātsūro adhvare pari rodhanā goḥ yaddha prabhāsi kṛtvyām̐ anu dyūnanarviśe paśviṣe turāya
The Sun, who when approaching the household's threshold girds the cattle round about the door with restraining force, who when shining makes the flanks of beasts tremble and hurries them along—

अ॒ष्टा म॒हो दि॒व आदो॒ हरी॑ इ॒ह द्यु॑म्ना॒साह॑म॒भि यो॑धा॒न उत्स॑म् । हरिं॒ यत्ते॑ म॒न्दिनं॑ दु॒क्षन्वृ॒धे गोर॑भस॒मद्रि॑भिर्वा॒ताप्य॑म्
aṣṭā maho diva ādo harī iha dyumnāsāhamabhi yodhāna utsam hariṃ yatte mandinaṃ dukṣanvṛdhe gorabhasamadribhirvātāpyam
Eight great ones of heaven are here; I am the radiant one among the bright ones, eager for combat. May the glorious one who goes before you, who treads the paths with slow might, equalize the cattle with his mountain-like powers and with winds.

त्वमा॑य॒सं प्रति॑ वर्तयो॒ गोर्दि॒वो अश्मा॑न॒मुप॑नीत॒मृभ्वा॑ । कुत्सा॑य॒ यत्र॑ पुरुहूत व॒न्वञ्छुष्ण॑मन॒न्तैः प॑रि॒यासि॑ व॒धैः
tvamāyasaṃ prati vartayo gordivo aśmānamupanītamṛbhvā kutsāya yatra puruhūta vanvañchuṣṇamanantaiḥ pariyāsi vadhaiḥ
You, O powerful one, proceed toward the sky with gathered stones and brought-together herds. Where the priestly man reviles, where the hunter breathes heat, you surround with destructive blows.

पु॒रा यत्सूर॒स्तम॑सो॒ अपी॑ते॒स्तम॑द्रिवः फलि॒गं हे॒तिम॑स्य । शुष्ण॑स्य चि॒त्परि॑हितं॒ यदोजो॑ दि॒वस्परि॒ सुग्र॑थितं॒ तदादः॑
purā yatsūrastamaso apītestamadrivaḥ phaligaṃ hetimasya śuṣṇasya citparihitaṃ yadojo divaspari sugrathitaṃ tadādaḥ
Earlier the suns made darkness stand; the mountains gave them a supporting peg. The vital energy of the hot one, arranged by the gods in heaven, came forth below as cause and fruit.

अनु॑ त्वा म॒ही पाज॑सी अच॒क्रे द्यावा॒क्षामा॑ मदतामिन्द्र॒ कर्म॑न् । त्वं वृ॒त्रमा॒शया॑नं सि॒रासु॑ म॒हो वज्रे॑ण सिष्वपो व॒राहु॑म्
anu tvā mahī pājasī acakre dyāvākṣāmā madatāmindra karman tvaṃ vṛtramāśayānaṃ sirāsu maho vajreṇa siṣvapo varāhum
Following you the lands nurture; the heavens performed the oblations of the intoxicated ones. You, with mighty thunderbolt, placed on heads the great boar that lay in springs of strength.

त्वमि॑न्द्र॒ नर्यो॒ याँ अवो॒ नॄन्तिष्ठा॒ वात॑स्य सु॒युजो॒ वहि॑ष्ठान् । यं ते॑ का॒व्य उ॒शना॑ म॒न्दिनं॒ दाद्वृ॑त्र॒हणं॒ पार्यं॑ ततक्ष॒ वज्र॑म्
tvamindra naryo yām̐ avo nṝntiṣṭhā vātasya suyujo vahiṣṭhān yaṃ te kāvya uśanā mandinaṃ dādvṛtrahaṇaṃ pāryaṃ tatakṣa vajram
You, Indra, are the man who remained below; you carried away the airs united with the wind. Which clever one gave you the hot, weakling herd, the slayer of Vritra—did he hand over that thunderbolt to you?

त्वं सूरो॑ ह॒रितो॑ रामयो॒ नॄन्भर॑च्च॒क्रमेत॑शो॒ नायमि॑न्द्र । प्रास्य॑ पा॒रं न॑व॒तिं ना॒व्या॑ना॒मपि॑ क॒र्तम॑वर्त॒योऽय॑ज्यून्
tvaṃ sūro harito rāmayo nṝnbharaccakrametaśo nāyamindra prāsya pāraṃ navatiṃ nāvyānāmapi kartamavartayo'yajyūn
You, hero, possessor of delight, conqueror of men, I do not call you Indra only. I will make you surpassing, like a new ship rowing to the farther shore—indeed many have decked it and launched it.

त्वं नो॑ अ॒स्या इ॑न्द्र दु॒र्हणा॑याः पा॒हि व॑ज्रिवो दुरि॒ताद॒भीके॑ । प्र नो॒ वाजा॑न्र॒थ्यो॒३॒॑ अश्व॑बुध्यानि॒षे य॑न्धि॒ श्रव॑से सू॒नृता॑यै
tvaṃ no asyā indra durhaṇāyāḥ pāhi vajrivo duritādabhīke pra no vājānrathyo3 aśvabudhyāniṣe yandhi śravase sūnṛtāyai
Protect us, Indra, from this hostile, injuring force; ward off distress with thy thunderbolt. O chariot-drivers and stirrers of horses, awaken the sons of Dyaus, the ever-listening ones, for the sake of fame.

मा सा ते॑ अ॒स्मत्सु॑म॒तिर्वि द॑स॒द्वाज॑प्रमहः॒ समिषो॑ वरन्त । आ नो॑ भज मघव॒न्गोष्व॒र्यो मंहि॑ष्ठास्ते सध॒मादः॑ स्याम
mā sā te asmatsumatirvi dasadvājapramahaḥ samiṣo varanta ā no bhaja maghavangoṣvaryo maṃhiṣṭhāste sadhamādaḥ syāma
Let not ill counsel come upon you among us; may truth and steadfast might be present. Grant us the noble wealth of cows; may your righteous aid be ours.
