पु॒रा यत्सूर॒स्तम॑सो॒ अपी॑ते॒स्तम॑द्रिवः फलि॒गं हे॒तिम॑स्य । शुष्ण॑स्य चि॒त्परि॑हितं॒ यदोजो॑ दि॒वस्परि॒ सुग्र॑थितं॒ तदादः॑
purā yatsūrastamaso apītestamadrivaḥ phaligaṃ hetimasya śuṣṇasya citparihitaṃ yadojo divaspari sugrathitaṃ tadādaḥ
Earlier the suns made darkness stand; the mountains gave them a supporting peg. The vital energy of the hot one, arranged by the gods in heaven, came forth below as cause and fruit.
When the sun (had emerged) from the struggle with darkness, you did break, wielder of the thunderbolt, the cloud that had been his annoyance, and did under the well-fastened covering in which Śuṣṇa had enveloped him.
Bolt-armed, ere darkness overtook the sunlight, thou castest at the veiling cloud thy weapon, Thou rentest, out of heaven, though firmly knotted, the might of Susna that was thrown around him.
