tvāvataḥ purūvaso vayamindra praṇetaḥ smasi sthātarharīṇām
From you, O ancient ones, we are sent forth by Indra; you stand as protectors of the cows.

We indeed know you as truthful, givers among the mountains; we know the givers of wealth.

He whose glory is great, a hundred‑celebrant, a hundred‑powered — the singers sing of him, O makers.

A mortal who is truly brave, whom Maruts honor, Mitra the lord who drives away obstacles.

Bestower of fire, in kine, horses, cattle, in heroic strength Aditya offered and planted; ever the peoples desire the lord.

tamindraṃ dānamīmahe śavasānamabhīrvam īśānaṃ rāya īmahe
To that Indra we give this gift with oblation, with the living offering; we give the sovereign power, the royal strength.

tasminhi santyūtayo viśvā abhīravaḥ sacā tamā vahantu saptayaḥ purūvasuṃ madāya harayaḥ sutam
May all prosperous streams be joined with him, O companions; carry him, the ancient, the possessors of glory, the delight of conquests.

yaste mado vareṇyo ya indra vṛtrahantamaḥ ya ādadiḥ sva1rnṛbhiryaḥ pṛtanāsu duṣṭaraḥ
He whose pride is foremost among you, who slew Vritra — he bestowed wealth on men and was hard to conquer in battle.

yo duṣṭaro viśvavāra śravāyyo vājeṣvasti tarutā sa naḥ śaviṣṭha savanā vaso gahi gamema gomati vraje
He who is most hostile among the world, famed in fame, in the strengths — may he be most deep to us; may we seize riches and go to the cattle‑rich pastures.

ग॒व्यो षु णो॒ यथा॑ पु॒राश्व॒योत र॑थ॒या । व॒रि॒व॒स्य म॑हामह
gavyo ṣu ṇo yathā purāśvayota rathayā varivasya mahāmaha
As cows for us, like steeds in front, like a chariot for the rider — the mighty flood is great.

nahi te śūra rādhaso'ntaṃ vindāmi satrā daśasyā no maghavannū cidadrivo dhiyo vājebhirāvitha
No brave one I find at the end among the hosts; tenfold be our bounty, bestow us riches, O singers with swift thought in sacrifices.

ya ṛṣvaḥ śrāvayatsakhā viśvetsa veda janimā puruṣṭutaḥ taṃ viśve mānuṣā yugendraṃ havante taviṣaṃ yatasrucaḥ
He who, O seers, the friend, knows the worlds and begets men from the nourisher — all mankind offer the lord in the assembly with bright clarion.

sa no vājeṣvavitā purūvasuḥ puraḥsthātā maghavā vṛtrahā bhuvat
He, the ancient guardian of the offerings, the foremost of the people, let him be protector, slayer of Vritra, bearing might.

O singers, bring forth the mighty speech, the song of Indra renowned, the powerful word as heard.

dadī rekṇastanve dadirvasu dadirvājeṣu puruhūta vājinam nūnamatha
Give the stretched out, give the slender, give wealth in the steeds and in the sacred offerings, O priestly bringer.

viśveṣāmirajyantaṃ vasūnāṃ sāsahvāṃsaṃ cidasya varpasaḥ kṛpayato nūnamatyatha
May the rulers of all and the possessors of wealth, and the hosts of the truthful, show mercy and not act otherwise.

mahaḥ su vo aramiṣe stavāmahe mīḷhuṣe araṃgamāya jagmaye yajñebhirgīrbhirviśvamanuṣāṃ marutāmiyakṣasi gāye tvā namasā girā
Great are the praises we sing for you, O generous one; the Maruts felt you in the assembly of sacrifice with the singers. We salute you, O voice, who encompass all with hymn and song.

ये पा॒तय॑न्ते॒ अज्म॑भिर्गिरी॒णां स्नुभि॑रेषाम् । य॒ज्ञं म॑हि॒ष्वणी॑नां सु॒म्नं तु॑वि॒ष्वणी॑नां॒ प्राध्व॒रे
ye pātayante ajmabhirgirīṇāṃ snubhireṣām yajñaṃ mahiṣvaṇīnāṃ sumnaṃ tuviṣvaṇīnāṃ prādhvare
Those who guard the flanks of the mountains with firm strength—may they direct the great sacrifice of the herdsmen, and the tender rites of the pourers.

प्र॒भ॒ङ्गं दु॑र्मती॒नामिन्द्र॑ शवि॒ष्ठा भ॑र । र॒यिम॒स्मभ्यं॒ युज्यं॑ चोदयन्मते॒ ज्येष्ठं॑ चोदयन्मते
prabhaṅgaṃ durmatīnāmindra śaviṣṭhā bhara rayimasmabhyaṃ yujyaṃ codayanmate jyeṣṭhaṃ codayanmate
Bear, O Indra, the broken ones and the ill-minded; rouse our wealth and urge forward the elder counsel in our counsel.

sanitaḥ susanitarugra citra cetiṣṭha sūnṛta prāsahā samrāṭ sahuriṃ sahantaṃ bhujyuṃ vājeṣu pūrvyam
Fixed, well-fixed, fierce, variegated, truthful—he who is renowned; the sovereign released his strong one, bearing arms in ancient might for the wealths of old.

ā sa etu ya īvadām̐ adevaḥ pūrtamādade yathā cidvaśo aśvyaḥ pṛthuśravasi kānīte3'syā vyuṣyādade
May he come to us as once the uncontrolled ones poured forth; as when the swift horses, broad-hoofed, dispersed, so did he bestow abundance upon them.

ṣaṣṭiṃ sahasrāśvyasyāyutāsanamuṣṭrānāṃ viṃśatiṃ śatā daśa śyāvīnāṃ śatā daśa tryaruṣīṇāṃ daśa gavāṃ sahasrā
He gave sixty thousand steeds furnished with bridles, twenty hundreds of chariots, and a thousand cows for ten dark-brown stallions, ten of the three‑headed ones—

daśa śyāvā ṛdhadrayo vītavārāsa āśavaḥ mathrā nemiṃ ni vāvṛtuḥ
Ten dark-brown were the powerful ones, the swift-bellied steeds, the coursers; they did not enclose the measured pasture.

dānāsaḥ pṛthuśravasaḥ kānītasya surādhasaḥ rathaṃ hiraṇyayaṃ dadanmaṃhiṣṭhaḥ sūrirabhūdvarṣiṣṭhamakṛta śravaḥ
Generous was the wide‑famed giver of heroes; he gave a golden chariot, the chief became a brave, the most excellent earner of wealth became famed among the heard ones.

आ नो॑ वायो म॒हे तने॑ या॒हि म॒खाय॒ पाज॑से । व॒यं हि ते॑ चकृ॒मा भूरि॑ दा॒वने॑ स॒द्यश्चि॒न्महि॑ दा॒वने॑
ā no vāyo mahe tane yāhi makhāya pājase vayaṃ hi te cakṛmā bhūri dāvane sadyaścinmahi dāvane
O Vayu, come to our great body which you protect with the magnet of your might. We have performed many sacrifices for you; accept our offerings swiftly.

यो अश्वे॑भि॒र्वह॑ते॒ वस्त॑ उ॒स्रास्त्रिः स॒प्त स॑प्तती॒नाम् । ए॒भिः सोमे॑भिः सोम॒सुद्भिः॑ सोमपा दा॒नाय॑ शुक्रपूतपाः
yo aśvebhirvahate vasta usrāstriḥ sapta saptatīnām ebhiḥ somebhiḥ somasudbhiḥ somapā dānāya śukrapūtapāḥ
He who draws three streams of oil from horses, seven times seventy—by these, fed with Soma, the Soma-drinkers, bright with pure offerings, give the gift.

yo ma imaṃ cidu tmanāmandaccitraṃ dāvane araṭve akṣe nahuṣe sukṛtvani sukṛttarāya sukratuḥ
He who kindles this splendid ritual within himself—well done in the oblation, well‑performing for reward—

ucathye3 vapuṣi yaḥ svarāḷuta vāyo ghṛtasnāḥ aśveṣitaṃ rajeṣitaṃ śuneṣitaṃ prājma tadidaṃ nu tat
Whoever in the sacred body is the breath or who bathes in ghee—this is mixed with horses, with dust, with hounds; is this then that?

adha priyamiṣirāya ṣaṣṭiṃ sahasrāsanam aśvānāminna vṛṣṇām
I desire for the beloved sixty thousand seats; not for the horses of the Vrishnis.

गावो॒ न यू॒थमुप॑ यन्ति॒ वध्र॑य॒ उप॒ मा य॑न्ति॒ वध्र॑यः
gāvo na yūthamupa yanti vadhraya upa mā yanti vadhrayaḥ
Cows do not come like you; they approach the pasture like foals approach the pasture.

adha yaccārathe gaṇe śatamuṣṭrām̐ acikradat adha śvitneṣu viṃśatiṃ śatā
Concerning the herds he counted a hundred studs in the assembly; concerning the white ones twenty hundreds.

श॒तं दा॒से ब॑ल्बू॒थे विप्र॒स्तरु॑क्ष॒ आ द॑दे । ते ते॑ वायवि॒मे जना॒ मद॒न्तीन्द्र॑गोपा॒ मद॑न्ति दे॒वगो॑पाः
śataṃ dāse balbūthe viprastarukṣa ā dade te te vāyavime janā madantīndragopā madanti devagopāḥ
A hundred gifts of Dasa to Balbutha were given; the priests, the strong trees, gave them. They, the windy folk, glorify us—Indra‑keepers exult, the god‑keepers exult.

अध॒ स्या योष॑णा म॒ही प्र॑ती॒ची वश॑म॒श्व्यम् । अधि॑रुक्मा॒ वि नी॑यते
adha syā yoṣaṇā mahī pratīcī vaśamaśvyam adhirukmā vi nīyate
Over her who is mistress of the earth the eastern‑facing mare holds sway; a lofty yoke is placed upon her.
