त्वम॑ग्ने प्रथ॒मो अङ्गि॑रा॒ ऋषि॑र्दे॒वो दे॒वाना॑मभवः शि॒वः सखा॑ । तव॑ व्र॒ते क॒वयो॑ विद्म॒नाप॒सोऽजा॑यन्त म॒रुतो॒ भ्राज॑दृष्टयः
tvamagne prathamo aṅgirā ṛṣirdevo devānāmabhavaḥ śivaḥ sakhā tava vrate kavayo vidmanāpaso'jāyanta maruto bhrājadṛṣṭayaḥ
You, Agni, first and foremost, Angirasa, seer, god of the gods, auspicious friend: by your ordinance poets know, by waters born, the Maruts shone with radiant visions.

tvamagne prathamo aṅgirastamaḥ kavirdevānāṃ pari bhūṣasi vratam vibhurviśvasmai bhuvanāya medhiro dvimātā śayuḥ katidhā cidāyave
You, O Agni, first born, Agni the Angirasa, are the seer who adorns the gods with ritual. Mighty one, for the world you are the wise protector; twice-born, you lie as creator, discerning in many ways.

त्वम॑ग्ने प्रथ॒मो मा॑त॒रिश्व॑न आ॒विर्भ॑व सुक्रतू॒या वि॒वस्व॑ते । अरे॑जेतां॒ रोद॑सी होतृ॒वूर्येऽस॑घ्नोर्भा॒रमय॑जो म॒हो व॑सो
tvamagne prathamo mātariśvana āvirbhava sukratūyā vivasvate arejetāṃ rodasī hotṛvūrye'saghnorbhāramayajo maho vaso
You, O Agni, first among the swift, came forth with bright deeds of the radiant one. May the singer-worshippers win you, the remover of enemies, bearing the great wealth and glory.

tvamagne manave dyāmavāśayaḥ purūravase sukṛte sukṛttaraḥ śvātreṇa yatpitrormucyase paryā tvā pūrvamanayannāparaṃ punaḥ
You, O Agni, the mind-born of men, the heaven-expander, protector of many, have freed the ancestral sin with purification; you led us forward once before and again afterwards.

त्वम॑ग्ने वृष॒भः पु॑ष्टि॒वर्ध॑न॒ उद्य॑तस्रुचे भवसि श्र॒वाय्यः॑ । य आहु॑तिं॒ परि॒ वेदा॒ वष॑ट्कृति॒मेका॑यु॒रग्रे॒ विश॑ आ॒विवा॑ससि
tvamagne vṛṣabhaḥ puṣṭivardhana udyatasruce bhavasi śravāyyaḥ ya āhutiṃ pari vedā vaṣaṭkṛtimekāyuragre viśa āvivāsasi
You, O Agni, are the bull that increases nourishment, rising with brilliant light; you are famed and glorious. He who, surrounding the oblation, knows the rite, endows long life in front and dwells in the wide place.

त्वम॑ग्ने वृजि॒नव॑र्तनिं॒ नरं॒ सक्म॑न्पिपर्षि वि॒दथे॑ विचर्षणे । यः शूर॑साता॒ परि॑तक्म्ये॒ धने॑ द॒भ्रेभि॑श्चि॒त्समृ॑ता॒ हंसि॒ भूय॑सः
tvamagne vṛjinavartaniṃ naraṃ sakmanpiparṣi vidathe vicarṣaṇe yaḥ śūrasātā paritakmye dhane dabhrebhiścitsamṛtā haṃsi bhūyasaḥ
You, O Agni, when seeking the man who brings gifts, stir the generous in the ritual. Courageous ones, moving around with wealth and noisy possessions, you make them famous like swans, many in number.

त्वं तम॑ग्ने अमृत॒त्व उ॑त्त॒मे मर्तं॑ दधासि॒ श्रव॑से दि॒वेदि॑वे । यस्ता॑तृषा॒ण उ॒भया॑य॒ जन्म॑ने॒ मयः॑ कृ॒णोषि॒ प्रय॒ आ च॑ सू॒रये॑
tvaṃ tamagne amṛtatva uttame martaṃ dadhāsi śravase divedive yastātṛṣāṇa ubhayāya janmane mayaḥ kṛṇoṣi praya ā ca sūraye
You, O Agni, grant immortal excellence to the highest mortal; you place fame day and night. From you come both kinds of offerings at birth; do for me what is fitting and bestow strength and light.

त्वं नो॑ अग्ने स॒नये॒ धना॑नां य॒शसं॑ का॒रुं कृ॑णुहि॒ स्तवा॑नः । ऋ॒ध्याम॒ कर्मा॒पसा॒ नवे॑न दे॒वैर्द्या॑वापृथिवी॒ प्राव॑तं नः
tvaṃ no agne sanaye dhanānāṃ yaśasaṃ kāruṃ kṛṇuhi stavānaḥ ṛdhyāma karmāpasā navena devairdyāvāpṛthivī prāvataṃ naḥ
O Agni, be the disposer of wealth for us, make glorious the hymns of the singers. May the gods with new rites make heaven and earth favorable to us and roll them forth.

त्वं नो॑ अग्ने पि॒त्रोरु॒पस्थ॒ आ दे॒वो दे॒वेष्व॑नवद्य॒ जागृ॑विः । त॒नू॒कृद्बो॑धि॒ प्रम॑तिश्च का॒रवे॒ त्वं क॑ल्याण॒ वसु॒ विश्व॒मोपि॑षे
tvaṃ no agne pitrorupastha ā devo deveṣvanavadya jāgṛviḥ tanūkṛdbodhi pramatiśca kārave tvaṃ kalyāṇa vasu viśvamopiṣe
You, O Agni, taking the place of the fathers, wake among the gods, unobstructed. Making bodies wise, stirring awareness, you are auspicious and dwelling with all riches everywhere.

त्वम॑ग्ने॒ प्रम॑ति॒स्त्वं पि॒तासि॑ न॒स्त्वं व॑य॒स्कृत्तव॑ जा॒मयो॑ व॒यम् । सं त्वा॒ रायः॑ श॒तिनः॒ सं स॑ह॒स्रिणः॑ सु॒वीरं॑ यन्ति व्रत॒पाम॑दाभ्य
tvamagne pramatistvaṃ pitāsi nastvaṃ vayaskṛttava jāmayo vayam saṃ tvā rāyaḥ śatinaḥ saṃ sahasriṇaḥ suvīraṃ yanti vratapāmadābhya
You, O Agni, are the wise ruler, you are our father, you make us mature; we are your born servants. Through you kings of hundreds and thousands, heroic and devoted, come to the covenant and to vigour.

त्वाम॑ग्ने प्रथ॒ममा॒युमा॒यवे॑ दे॒वा अ॑कृण्व॒न्नहु॑षस्य वि॒श्पति॑म् । इळा॑मकृण्व॒न्मनु॑षस्य॒ शास॑नीं पि॒तुर्यत्पु॒त्रो मम॑कस्य॒ जाय॑ते
tvāmagne prathamamāyumāyave devā akṛṇvannahuṣasya viśpatim iḷāmakṛṇvanmanuṣasya śāsanīṃ pituryatputro mamakasya jāyate
O Agni, you first made the lifespan for the gods and performed the lordship of the oblation. You made Ilā for mankind and established the command of the father, whereby my son is born to me.

त्वं नो॑ अग्ने॒ तव॑ देव पा॒युभि॑र्म॒घोनो॑ रक्ष त॒न्व॑श्च वन्द्य । त्रा॒ता तो॒कस्य॒ तन॑ये॒ गवा॑म॒स्यनि॑मेषं॒ रक्ष॑माण॒स्तव॑ व्र॒ते
tvaṃ no agne tava deva pāyubhirmaghono rakṣa tanvaśca vandya trātā tokasya tanaye gavāmasyanimeṣaṃ rakṣamāṇastava vrate
O Agni, protect us with thy glorious waters and the foam of thy kindling; grant strength and be worshipped. Be guardian of the calf, protector of the kine’s sightless one; guarding these, uphold thy vow.

त्वम॑ग्ने॒ यज्य॑वे पा॒युरन्त॑रोऽनिष॒ङ्गाय॑ चतुर॒क्ष इ॑ध्यसे । यो रा॒तह॑व्योऽवृ॒काय॒ धाय॑से की॒रेश्चि॒न्मन्त्रं॒ मन॑सा व॒नोषि॒ तम्
tvamagne yajyave pāyurantaro'niṣaṅgāya caturakṣa idhyase yo rātahavyo'vṛkāya dhāyase kīreścinmantraṃ manasā vanoṣi tam
Thou, Agni, art the sacrificial priest; thou feedest the waters and shinest with fourfold sight. Thou who dost run like a nightly oblation to the wolf, who createst charms and art the mind of the ritual — guard that.

त्वम॑ग्न उरु॒शंसा॑य वा॒घते॑ स्पा॒र्हं यद्रेक्णः॑ पर॒मं व॒नोषि॒ तत् । आ॒ध्रस्य॑ चि॒त्प्रम॑तिरुच्यसे पि॒ता प्र पाकं॒ शास्सि॒ प्र दिशो॑ वि॒दुष्ट॑रः
tvamagna uruśaṃsāya vāghate spārhaṃ yadrekṇaḥ paramaṃ vanoṣi tat ādhrasya citpramatirucyase pitā pra pākaṃ śāssi pra diśo viduṣṭaraḥ
Thou, Agni, with wide favor speak forth the cherished touch which thou holdest single and supreme in thy ritual. Thou art called the thought-bright one of the moist (sacrificial) fire; fatherly, thou rulest the cook and knowest the directions.

त्वम॑ग्ने॒ प्रय॑तदक्षिणं॒ नरं॒ वर्मे॑व स्यू॒तं परि॑ पासि वि॒श्वतः॑ । स्वा॒दु॒क्षद्मा॒ यो व॑स॒तौ स्यो॑न॒कृज्जी॑वया॒जं यज॑ते॒ सोप॒मा दि॒वः
tvamagne prayatadakṣiṇaṃ naraṃ varmeva syūtaṃ pari pāsi viśvataḥ svādukṣadmā yo vasatau syonakṛjjīvayājaṃ yajate sopamā divaḥ
Agni, thou hast urged the man aright; clothed he may be bound about, encircled on every side. He who dwells in pleasant and painful places, offering life and sacrifice, is like thee, akin to the heavens.

इ॒माम॑ग्ने श॒रणिं॑ मीमृषो न इ॒ममध्वा॑नं॒ यमगा॑म दू॒रात् । आ॒पिः पि॒ता प्रम॑तिः सो॒म्यानां॒ भृमि॑रस्यृषि॒कृन्मर्त्या॑नाम्
imāmagne śaraṇiṃ mīmṛṣo na imamadhvānaṃ yamagāma dūrāt āpiḥ pitā pramatiḥ somyānāṃ bhṛmirasyṛṣikṛnmartyānām
Accept this refuge, Agni; seek it not by other paths from far away. Fatherly thought and breath are the inspirers of the Soma-drinkers, the stirrers of mortals' song.
Rigveda 1.031.17

म॒नु॒ष्वद॑ग्ने अङ्गिर॒स्वद॑ङ्गिरो ययाति॒वत्सद॑ने पूर्व॒वच्छु॑चे । अच्छ॑ या॒ह्या व॑हा॒ दैव्यं॒ जन॒मा सा॑दय ब॒र्हिषि॒ यक्षि॑ च प्रि॒यम्
manuṣvadagne aṅgirasvadaṅgiro yayātivatsadane pūrvavacchuce accha yāhyā vahā daivyaṃ janamā sādaya barhiṣi yakṣi ca priyam
Indra and Angiras, Agni, among men the Angiras moves forth to the ancient, purified dwelling. Bring down that divine birth, set it in order with the holy hymn; grant it favour and graciousness.

ए॒तेना॑ग्ने॒ ब्रह्म॑णा वावृधस्व॒ शक्ती॑ वा॒ यत्ते॑ चकृ॒मा वि॒दा वा॑ । उ॒त प्र णे॑ष्य॒भि वस्यो॑ अ॒स्मान्सं नः॑ सृज सुम॒त्या वाज॑वत्या
etenāgne brahmaṇā vāvṛdhasva śaktī vā yatte cakṛmā vidā vā uta pra ṇeṣyabhi vasyo asmānsaṃ naḥ sṛja sumatyā vājavatyā
Thus, Agni, be increased by the Brahmins and by thy might what the wise have wrought and what the seers declared. Grant us dominion and send forth upon us wealth and strength, creative of our prosperity.
