स यो वृषा॒ वृष्ण्ये॑भिः॒ समो॑का म॒हो दि॒वः पृ॑थि॒व्याश्च॑ स॒म्राट् । स॒ती॒नस॑त्वा॒ हव्यो॒ भरे॑षु म॒रुत्वा॑न्नो भव॒त्विन्द्र॑ ऊ॒ती
sa yo vṛṣā vṛṣṇyebhiḥ samokā maho divaḥ pṛthivyāśca samrāṭ satīnasatvā havyo bhareṣu marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
He who is equal in the bulls and the bellowing herds, great ruler of heaven and earth—being fit for sacrifices, abundant in offerings—become full, O Indra, with marut-like vigor.

yasyānāptaḥ sūryasyeva yāmo bharebhare vṛtrahā śuṣmo asti vṛṣantamaḥ sakhibhiḥ svebhirevairmarutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
Whose pressed one is like the sun, whose season fills and destroys the Vṛtra—he is keen and thriving. May he, adorned with friends and companions, become full, O Indra, with marut-like vigor.

divo na yasya retaso dughānāḥ panthāso yanti śavasāparītāḥ taraddveṣāḥ sāsahiḥ pauṃsyebhirmarutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
For him whose pathways of semen are not milked by the heavens, whose tracks go like sloughed-off skins—the twain of foes are together; with the Maruts as allies, become full, O Indra, with marut-like vigor.

so aṅgirobhiraṅgirastamo bhūdvṛṣā vṛṣabhiḥ sakhibhiḥ sakhā san ṛgmibhirṛgmī gātubhirjyeṣṭho marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
He became vigorous among the Angirasas, a bull among bulls, companion among companions; by the Rig hymns and chantings, eldest of the Maruts, may he become like Indra who rises up.

sa sūnubhirna rudrebhirṛbhvā nṛṣāhye sāsahvām̐ amitrān sanīḷebhiḥ śravasyāni tūrvanmarutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
He, swift with sons, with Rudras and with heroes, unassailable in battle, cast out our enemies; by the fierce ones’ songs, Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

sa manyumīḥ samadanasya kartāsmākebhirnṛbhiḥ sūryaṃ sanat asminnahansatpatiḥ puruhūto marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
He, spirit of Manu, creator of the assembly of worshippers, set the sun for us; in this dwelling the lordly priest offered—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

tamūtayo raṇayañchūrasātau taṃ kṣemasya kṣitayaḥ kṛṇvata trām sa viśvasya karuṇasyeśa eko marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
They hurled forth that pair of warlike youths; the fertile lands made them safe; he who is one amid all compassion—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

तम॑प्सन्त॒ शव॑स उत्स॒वेषु॒ नरो॒ नर॒मव॑से॒ तं धना॑य । सो अ॒न्धे चि॒त्तम॑सि॒ ज्योति॑र्विदन्म॒रुत्वा॑न्नो भव॒त्विन्द्र॑ ऊ॒ती
tamapsanta śavasa utsaveṣu naro naramavase taṃ dhanāya so andhe cittamasi jyotirvidanmarutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
They sought him in funeral rites and joyous assemblies when men were gathered; give him wealth. He is the light of the blind mind—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

sa savyena yamati vrādhataścitsa dakṣiṇe saṃgṛbhītā kṛtāni sa kīriṇā citsanitā dhanāni marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
With rightward rites he went, with steadfast mind, honoring the southern offerings and deeds; with the radiant beam his mind set the wealth—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

He, established among villages and among chariots, having yoked all kinds, he overwhelmed the foes with offerings; he of the host nourishes the assembly—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

sa jāmibhiryatsamajāti mīḷhe'jāmibhirvā puruhūta evaiḥ apāṃ tokasya tanayasya jeṣe marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
He who with kine and comrades bound the herds, whether with she-goats or rams, priest thus; of the spring’s draught, son of the streams, Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

From his mighty thunderbolt came terror; dreadful, fierce, thousand-minded, arrayed with hosts; the crush of battle, the slayer of five peoples—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

His thunderbolt roared; from his wrath heaven trembled, no other had such might; they worship him and they call him wealthy—Maruts elder-born, may he become like Indra who rises up.

yasyājasraṃ śavasā mānamukthaṃ paribhujadrodasī viśvataḥ sīm sa pāriṣatkratubhirmandasāno marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
Whose ever-breathing life, with liberated mind and widespread strength, fills the world; may he, like a kindly sacrificer, with gentle might and heroic vigor, be far-reaching—Indra be exalted.

न यस्य॑ दे॒वा दे॒वता॒ न मर्ता॒ आप॑श्च॒न शव॑सो॒ अन्त॑मा॒पुः । स प्र॒रिक्वा॒ त्वक्ष॑सा॒ क्ष्मो दि॒वश्च॑ म॒रुत्वा॑न्नो भव॒त्विन्द्र॑ ऊ॒ती
na yasya devā devatā na martā āpaścana śavaso antamāpuḥ sa prarikvā tvakṣasā kṣmo divaśca marutvānno bhavatvindra ūtī
Not those whom gods or men, or oblations, have reached last; may he, endued with steadfast breath and forgiving nature, with heaven-like strength and heroic vigor, be far-reaching—Indra be exalted.

रो॒हिच्छ्या॒वा सु॒मदं॑शुर्लला॒मीर्द्यु॒क्षा रा॒य ऋ॒ज्राश्व॑स्य । वृष॑ण्वन्तं॒ बिभ्र॑ती धू॒र्षु रथं॑ म॒न्द्रा चि॑केत॒ नाहु॑षीषु वि॒क्षु
rohicchyāvā sumadaṃśurlalāmīrdyukṣā rāya ṛjrāśvasya vṛṣaṇvantaṃ bibhratī dhūrṣu rathaṃ mandrā ciketa nāhuṣīṣu vikṣu
With tawny steeds, with spirited chariot-horses yoked to the chariot’s axle, bearing the might of swift chariots, they cry aloud; the strong-eyed ones, anxious in battle, behold the warhorses and the mighty wheels.

ए॒तत्त्यत्त॑ इन्द्र॒ वृष्ण॑ उ॒क्थं वा॑र्षागि॒रा अ॒भि गृ॑णन्ति॒ राधः॑ । ऋ॒ज्राश्वः॒ प्रष्टि॑भिरम्ब॒रीषः॑ स॒हदे॑वो॒ भय॑मानः सु॒राधाः॑
etattyatta indra vṛṣṇa ukthaṃ vārṣāgirā abhi gṛṇanti rādhaḥ ṛjrāśvaḥ praṣṭibhirambarīṣaḥ sahadevo bhayamānaḥ surādhāḥ
When Indra and the strong steed recite that steadfast hymn or the rain-song, the noble ones invoke it; the swift-hoofed and the stout-chested, the storm-driving ones, together with gods and fearful, heroic warriors, are forward.

दस्यू॒ञ्छिम्यू॑ँश्च पुरुहू॒त एवै॑र्ह॒त्वा पृ॑थि॒व्यां शर्वा॒ नि ब॑र्हीत् । सन॒त्क्षेत्रं॒ सखि॑भिः श्वि॒त्न्येभिः॒ सन॒त्सूर्यं॒ सन॑द॒पः सु॒वज्रः॑
dasyūñchimyūm̐śca puruhūta evairhatvā pṛthivyāṃ śarvā ni barhīt sanatkṣetraṃ sakhibhiḥ śvitnyebhiḥ sanatsūryaṃ sanadapaḥ suvajraḥ
They, having slain foes and ritual singers, drove them away upon the earth and brought the spoils with loud acclaim; with comrades in the field, with bright ones, with the sun present, the waters were victorious, with powerful thunderbolts.

वि॒श्वाहेन्द्रो॑ अधिव॒क्ता नो॑ अ॒स्त्वप॑रिह्वृताः सनुयाम॒ वाज॑म् । तन्नो॑ मि॒त्रो वरु॑णो मामहन्ता॒मदि॑तिः॒ सिन्धुः॑ पृथि॒वी उ॒त द्यौः
viśvāhendro adhivaktā no astvaparihvṛtāḥ sanuyāma vājam tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ
Indra, the universal lord and speaker, be our protector; let not our hymns be removed. May Mitra and Varuṇa, Aditi, Sindhu, earth and sky grant us strength and reward.
