Great Indra, like vigour, O Parjanya, you poured rain; by the praise of the calf you increased the cow.

Not heaven, O Indra, nor the spaces between hold thy strength-bearing bolt; the lands do not conceal it.

He who set Indra, lord of earth and waters, in motion and aspiration—he placed him on the pathways from beneath.

Who among you rulers, measuring the earth like streams, seized him who feared darkness with ambushes—Guhá (the cave) robbed him of that Indra.

We desired thee, O lord, Kanvas invoked thee with a hymn and increased (thy) strength; children, O Indra, praised thee.

To thee, O Indra, the led streams are offered, the praised ones like mountains; the sacrifice spreads its sheath.

Come hither, Indra, to the earth’s sweet realm, do not refuse the cow-bearing one; also to offspring of heroic vigor.

Or then, if Indra were not in these two chariots, he would reveal himself at the front with splendor.

He did not restrain the herd’s going; the sun rose like an eye seeing—if Indra be mild to us.

When your vigorous limbs, O Indra, spread abroad over earth, great beyond measure were the waters with strength.

They, full of oblation, spoke to thee with many offerings at the summit: with the abundant force of cows and bulls.

Around the high peaks and with the gathering of rivers, the wise one (brahman) gave birth to thought.

Hence he sees the ocean rising like foam; from which the winds were born.

From the seed of the primal (Aditya) they behold the light of the years; if it is set aside, it stays for the day.

kaṇvāsa indra te matiṃ viśve vardhanti pauṃsyam uto śaviṣṭha vṛṣṇyam
Kanva, your thought increases all the worlds’ bounty for the pious; upwards the auspicious Vṛṣṇi grows.

Indra, accept this our well-formed praise; grant me, indeed, an increased thought.

Not wandering, the waters of Kanva were praised; thought led Indra into the forest.

Freed, the Sindhavah waxed like the ocean; they increased, surpassing the moving flock like a cloud of winds.

Come to us from the far side, O bestowers upon the hymns, drink this offspring of Indra.

People, with bright hymns, invoke you, slayer of Vṛtra; they offer oblations for the sake of strength.

They follow you at dawn; both wheels do not turn askew; the noble Indra goes with fair courses.

Gently the golden one rose; Indra furnished refuge; may my thought be of the radiant one.

Rishi, by the ancient might of this lordly splendour, Indra you offered wealth; you have made it grow.

Choose Indra of bounding might for my mind among the unenlightened mortals; Indra, press him forth for prosperity.

O Arvañcha, be the praise of the beloved one, sung in the breast; Soma-drinker will speak it from the chest.

Three hundred chariots, thousands and ten times cows they gave for worship in the Sama-rite.

The Udana-kakuh, with fourfold might, gave to heaven. Hear, O people, with attention.
