महि॑ वो मह॒तामवो॒ वरु॑ण॒ मित्र॑ दा॒शुषे॑ । यमा॑दित्या अ॒भि द्रु॒हो रक्ष॑था॒ नेम॒घं न॑शदने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
mahi vo mahatāmavo varuṇa mitra dāśuṣe yamādityā abhi druho rakṣathā nemaghaṃ naśadanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Great be your might, O Varuna, Mitra, Dasus! The Yama and the Adityas protect the chiefs—do not break the fetters; the swift couriers and the messengers protect.

vidā devā aghānāmādityāso apākṛtim pakṣā vayo yathopari vya1sme śarma yacchatānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
The gods know the beginnings of crimes, the Adityas fashioned the waters. May the wings protect us as above; grant us shelter in the gleam, the swift couriers and messengers protect.

vya1sme adhi śarma tatpakṣā vayo na yantana viśvāni viśvavedaso varūthyā manāmahe'nehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
May there be for me a protecting shelter; may we not be driven apart. We invoke all the knowers of the world, O exalted ones, with minds pure; O heralds, O messengers, be gracious to us.

yasmā arāsata kṣayaṃ jīvātuṃ ca pracetasaḥ manorviśvasya ghedima ādityā rāya īśate'nehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
From whom the wasting began to live for the thoughtful — the mind that pierces the universe — Aditya (the Sun) desires rule; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

परि॑ णो वृणजन्न॒घा दु॒र्गाणि॑ र॒थ्यो॑ यथा । स्यामेदिन्द्र॑स्य॒ शर्म॑ण्यादि॒त्याना॑मु॒ताव॑स्यने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
pari ṇo vṛṇajannaghā durgāṇi rathyo yathā syāmedindrasya śarmaṇyādityānāmutāvasyanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Surrounding us, take up the difficult passes like chariot-doors; may we be in Indra’s protection and in the protection of the Adityas; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

parihvṛtedanā jano yuṣmādattasya vāyati devā adabhramāśa vo yamādityā ahetanānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
When this people is beset from every side, the wind of that overcome place blows from you; the gods, the radiant ones, the Adityas, are your helpers; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

न तं ति॒ग्मं च॒न त्यजो॒ न द्रा॑सद॒भि तं गु॒रु । यस्मा॑ उ॒ शर्म॑ स॒प्रथ॒ आदि॑त्यासो॒ अरा॑ध्वमने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
na taṃ tigmaṃ cana tyajo na drāsadabhi taṃ guru yasmā u śarma sapratha ādityāso arādhvamanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Do not abandon that sharp vitality, nor cast away that great weight which is before the Adityas; worship the Adityas who are foremost in protection; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

yuṣme devā api ṣmasi yudhyanta iva varmasu yūyaṃ maho na enaso yūyamarbhāduruṣyatānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
O gods, fight for you as if in armor; you are great, not of envy; you overcome hostile forces; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

aditirna uruṣyatvaditiḥ śarma yacchatu mātā mitrasya revato'ryamṇo varuṇasya cānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Aditi does not let the Sun (Aditi’s son) be oppressed; mother of Mitra and Varuna and Aryaman, O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

यद्दे॑वाः॒ शर्म॑ शर॒णं यद्भ॒द्रं यद॑नातु॒रम् । त्रि॒धातु॒ यद्व॑रू॒थ्यं१॒॑ तद॒स्मासु॒ वि य॑न्तनाने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
yaddevāḥ śarma śaraṇaṃ yadbhadraṃ yadanāturam tridhātu yadvarūthyaṃ1 tadasmāsu vi yantanānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
What the gods are as shelter, what is auspicious, what is unharmed—may that threefold protection, that mighty safeguard, be upon us; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

आदि॑त्या॒ अव॒ हि ख्यताधि॒ कूला॑दिव॒ स्पशः॑ । सु॒ती॒र्थमर्व॑तो य॒थानु॑ नो नेषथा सु॒गम॑ने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
ādityā ava hi khyatādhi kūlādiva spaśaḥ sutīrthamarvato yathānu no neṣathā sugamanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
The Adityas indeed are manifest, famed like a bank or shore; like a good pilgrimage they direct the flowing river for us; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

नेह भ॒द्रं र॑क्ष॒स्विने॒ नाव॒यै नोप॒या उ॒त । गवे॑ च भ॒द्रं धे॒नवे॑ वी॒राय॑ च श्रवस्य॒ते॑ऽने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
neha bhadraṃ rakṣasvine nāvayai nopayā uta gave ca bhadraṃ dhenave vīrāya ca śravasyate'nehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Guard for us that which is auspicious in the waters—neither lacking nor wasted; and auspicious for the cows, for the kine, for the hero of the herd; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

yadāviryadapīcyaṃ1 devāso asti duṣkṛtam trite tadviśvamāptya āre asmaddadhātanānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
When the gods’ heroic might was impaired by evil deeds, then thrice they reached the universal attainment, and they established for us a safeguard; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

यच्च॒ गोषु॑ दु॒ष्ष्वप्न्यं॒ यच्चा॒स्मे दु॑हितर्दिवः । त्रि॒ताय॒ तद्वि॑भावर्या॒प्त्याय॒ परा॑ वहाने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
yacca goṣu duṣṣvapnyaṃ yaccāsme duhitardivaḥ tritāya tadvibhāvaryāptyāya parā vahānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
What is harmful to cows, what is harmful to my daughter of heaven—thrice that they removed to an outer conveyance and bore it away; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

नि॒ष्कं वा॑ घा कृ॒णव॑ते॒ स्रजं॑ वा दुहितर्दिवः । त्रि॒ते दु॒ष्ष्वप्न्यं॒ सर्व॑मा॒प्त्ये परि॑ दद्मस्यने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
niṣkaṃ vā ghā kṛṇavate srajaṃ vā duhitardivaḥ trite duṣṣvapnyaṃ sarvamāptye pari dadmasyanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Whether they fashioned a necklace or made a ring, or the daughter of heaven gave it—thrice the harmful dreams were entirely removed; we put them aside; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

तद॑न्नाय॒ तद॑पसे॒ तं भा॒गमु॑पसे॒दुषे॑ । त्रि॒ताय॑ च द्वि॒ताय॒ चोषो॑ दु॒ष्ष्वप्न्यं॑ वहाने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
tadannāya tadapase taṃ bhāgamupaseduṣe tritāya ca dvitāya coṣo duṣṣvapnyaṃ vahānehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
Offer that food, offer that oblation; unite the portion here; thrice and twice the harmful dreams were carried away in a conveyance; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

यथा॑ क॒लां यथा॑ श॒फं यथ॑ ऋ॒णं सं॒नया॑मसि । ए॒वा दु॒ष्ष्वप्न्यं॒ सर्व॑मा॒प्त्ये सं न॑यामस्यने॒हसो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑ सुऊ॒तयो॑ व ऊ॒तयः॑
yathā kalāṃ yathā śaphaṃ yatha ṛṇaṃ saṃnayāmasi evā duṣṣvapnyaṃ sarvamāptye saṃ nayāmasyanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
As you control the herd, as you control the arrow, as you restrain a debt — thus may you restrain every harmful dream; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.

ajaiṣmādyāsanāma cābhūmānāgaso vayam uṣo yasmādduṣṣvapnyādabhaiṣmāpa taducchatvanehaso va ūtayaḥ suūtayo va ūtayaḥ
We were of old unassailable and made steadfast; dawn, from whom the harmful dreams withdrew, shine upon us with protection; O exalted ones, O heralds, be gracious to us.
