तम॒ग्निमस्ते॒ वस॑वो॒ न्यृ॑ण्वन्सुप्रति॒चक्ष॒मव॑से॒ कुत॑श्चित् । द॒क्षाय्यो॒ यो दम॒ आस॒ नित्यः॑
tamagnimaste vasavo nyṛṇvansupraticakṣamavase kutaścit dakṣāyyo yo dama āsa nityaḥ
Vasavas have borne that Agni to you, may they indulgently grant him favor; who worshipped Daksha, who tamed the steed, ever constant.

preddho agne dīdihi puro no'jasrayā sūrmyā yaviṣṭha tvāṃ śaśvanta upa yanti vājāḥ
O Agni, shine aforetime for our city, bountiful, radiant, most excellent. To you the oblations come; the prizes approach you.

pra te agnayo'gnibhyo varaṃ niḥ suvīrāsaḥ śośucanta dyumantaḥ yatrā naraḥ samāsate sujātāḥ
May your flame, Agni, from the fires give boon to the strong heroes, purifying the heavens; where men assemble, the noble-born hold together.

Give us, Agni, the radiant realm of thought, the heroic, the noble patrimony; let him not who is greedy cross over to our path.

upa yameti yuvatiḥ sudakṣaṃ doṣā vastorhaviṣmatī ghṛtācī upa svainamaramatirvasūyuḥ
The maiden approaches thee, Agni, skilled, with no fault; the plentiful gift of oblation and ghee; to her own spouse she returns, rejoicing in wealth.

viśvā agne'pa dahārātīryebhistapobhiradaho jarūtham pra nisvaraṃ cātayasvāmīvām
All-consuming, Agni, you burn far and wide with your heats, with furnaces of fervor; fling forth the flame, send forth the roar like a trumpet; purify the dwelling.

आ यस्ते॑ अग्न इध॒ते अनी॑कं॒ वसि॑ष्ठ॒ शुक्र॒ दीदि॑वः॒ पाव॑क । उ॒तो न॑ ए॒भिः स्त॒वथै॑रि॒ह स्याः॑
ā yaste agna idhate anīkaṃ vasiṣṭha śukra dīdivaḥ pāvaka uto na ebhiḥ stavathairiha syāḥ
He who pours this Agni of yours many times, O Vasiṣṭha, radiant purifier, the glowing one—may we be praised by these praises.

वि ये ते॑ अग्ने भेजि॒रे अनी॑कं॒ मर्ता॒ नरः॒ पित्र्या॑सः पुरु॒त्रा । उ॒तो न॑ ए॒भिः सु॒मना॑ इ॒ह स्याः॑
vi ye te agne bhejire anīkaṃ martā naraḥ pitryāsaḥ purutrā uto na ebhiḥ sumanā iha syāḥ
May those, O Agni, whom many mortals and the offspring of fathers have invoked for you, with one mind come here to these offerings.

ime naro vṛtrahatyeṣu śūrā viśvā adevīrabhi santu māyāḥ ye me dhiyaṃ panayanta praśastām
May these heroes, who slay Vrtra, be wholly invincible; may they, free from deceit, endorse my thoughts and make them splendid.

mā śūne agne ni ṣadāma nṛṇāṃ māśeṣaso'vīratā pari tvā prajāvatīṣu duryāsu durya
Do not, O Agni, set aside the brave among men; let not cowardice surround you. In populous assemblies do not be hard to win.

यम॒श्वी नित्य॑मुप॒याति॑ य॒ज्ञं प्र॒जाव॑न्तं स्वप॒त्यं क्षयं॑ नः । स्वज॑न्मना॒ शेष॑सा वावृधा॒नम्
yamaśvī nityamupayāti yajñaṃ prajāvantaṃ svapatyaṃ kṣayaṃ naḥ svajanmanā śeṣasā vāvṛdhānam
Yama's steeds ever bring the sacrifice, abundant in progeny and lordship, yet not wasting our wealth. With our own births' remnant may he increase our prosperity.

पा॒हि नो॑ अग्ने र॒क्षसो॒ अजु॑ष्टात्पा॒हि धू॒र्तेरर॑रुषो अघा॒योः । त्वा यु॒जा पृ॑तना॒यूँर॒भि ष्या॑म्
pāhi no agne rakṣaso ajuṣṭātpāhi dhūrterararuṣo aghāyoḥ tvā yujā pṛtanāyūm̐rabhi ṣyām
Protect us, Agni, from hosts that are unjust; guard us from the crafty, the wicked, and harmful ones. Unite us with the steadfast forces.

सेद॒ग्निर॒ग्नीँरत्य॑स्त्व॒न्यान्यत्र॑ वा॒जी तन॑यो वी॒ळुपा॑णिः । स॒हस्र॑पाथा अ॒क्षरा॑ स॒मेति॑
sedagniragnīm̐ratyastvanyānyatra vājī tanayo vīḷupāṇiḥ sahasrapāthā akṣarā sameti
Let Agni sit, Agni, not elsewhere but here on the steeds; O strong-armed son of strength, with a thousand paths, unerringly establish the imperishable.

सेद॒ग्निर्यो व॑नुष्य॒तो नि॒पाति॑ समे॒द्धार॒मंह॑स उरु॒ष्यात् । सु॒जा॒तासः॒ परि॑ चरन्ति वी॒राः
sedagniryo vanuṣyato nipāti sameddhāramaṃhasa uruṣyāt sujātāsaḥ pari caranti vīrāḥ
May Agni from the forest rush down, equal in strength, bearing the holy oblation and mighty offerings; the well-born heroes roam around him.

अ॒यं सो अ॒ग्निराहु॑तः पुरु॒त्रा यमीशा॑नः॒ समिदि॒न्धे ह॒विष्मा॑न् । परि॒ यमेत्य॑ध्व॒रेषु॒ होता॑
ayaṃ so agnirāhutaḥ purutrā yamīśānaḥ samidindhe haviṣmān pari yametyadhvareṣu hotā
This Agni, they say, was invoked by many sons; the lords of the Yamas kindle the sacrificial fuel. He comes around the offerings as the priest.

त्वे अ॑ग्न आ॒हव॑नानि॒ भूरी॑शा॒नास॒ आ जु॑हुयाम॒ नित्या॑ । उ॒भा कृ॒ण्वन्तो॑ वह॒तू मि॒येधे॑
tve agna āhavanāni bhūrīśānāsa ā juhuyāma nityā ubhā kṛṇvanto vahatū miyedhe
We call upon thee, Agni, with abundant rites; we daily invoke thee. Both making offerings, make them flow, O carrier, bring them to fulfilment.

इ॒मो अ॑ग्ने वी॒तत॑मानि ह॒व्याज॑स्रो वक्षि दे॒वता॑ति॒मच्छ॑ । प्रति॑ न ईं सुर॒भीणि॑ व्यन्तु
imo agne vītatamāni havyājasro vakṣi devatātimaccha prati na īṃ surabhīṇi vyantu
These, O Agni, are the strewn offerings, the swift-poured oblations; set them forth to the gods beyond. Grant that they go forth, rich and fragrant.

मा नो॑ अग्ने॒ऽवीर॑ते॒ परा॑ दा दु॒र्वास॒सेऽम॑तये॒ मा नो॑ अ॒स्यै । मा नः॑ क्षु॒धे मा र॒क्षस॑ ऋतावो॒ मा नो॒ दमे॒ मा वन॒ आ जु॑हूर्थाः
mā no agne'vīrate parā dā durvāsase'mataye mā no asyai mā naḥ kṣudhe mā rakṣasa ṛtāvo mā no dame mā vana ā juhūrthāḥ
Do not, O Agni, withdraw beyond our reach in hostility; do not forsake us. Spare us from hunger, protect us by the laws; do not subject us to taming or to the forest—offerings keep coming.

नू मे॒ ब्रह्मा॑ण्यग्न॒ उच्छ॑शाधि॒ त्वं दे॑व म॒घव॑द्भ्यः सुषूदः । रा॒तौ स्या॑मो॒भया॑स॒ आ ते॑ यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः
nū me brahmāṇyagna ucchaśādhi tvaṃ deva maghavadbhyaḥ suṣūdaḥ rātau syāmobhayāsa ā te yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ
Rise for me now, great Agni; thou art a god of valorous gifts to the generous. May night and twilight be protective for us; may you bestow prosperities and always auspicious well-being upon us.

त्वम॑ग्ने सु॒हवो॑ र॒ण्वसं॑दृक्सुदी॒ती सू॑नो सहसो दिदीहि । मा त्वे सचा॒ तन॑ये॒ नित्य॒ आ ध॒ङ्मा वी॒रो अ॒स्मन्नर्यो॒ वि दा॑सीत्
tvamagne suhavo raṇvasaṃdṛksudītī sūno sahaso didīhi mā tve sacā tanaye nitya ā dhaṅmā vīro asmannaryo vi dāsīt
Thou, Agni, art friendly, renowned in battle and like a son in might; shine forth with thousandfold offspring. Let not thy fierce son oppose us; let the hero bring gifts to our men.

मा नो॑ अग्ने दुर्भृ॒तये॒ सचै॒षु दे॒वेद्धे॑ष्व॒ग्निषु॒ प्र वो॑चः । मा ते॑ अ॒स्मान्दु॑र्म॒तयो॑ भृ॒माच्चि॑द्दे॒वस्य॑ सूनो सहसो नशन्त
mā no agne durbhṛtaye sacaiṣu deveddheṣvagniṣu pra vocaḥ mā te asmāndurmatayo bhṛmācciddevasya sūno sahaso naśanta
May Agni not speak for the ill-doer among gods, nor for the wicked in assemblies of the gods. May thy evil counsels not touch us; may the god's son not utterly destroy by force.

स मर्तो॑ अग्ने स्वनीक रे॒वानम॑र्त्ये॒ य आ॑जु॒होति॑ ह॒व्यम् । स दे॒वता॑ वसु॒वनिं॑ दधाति॒ यं सू॒रिर॒र्थी पृ॒च्छमा॑न॒ एति॑
sa marto agne svanīka revānamartye ya ājuhoti havyam sa devatā vasuvaniṃ dadhāti yaṃ sūrirarthī pṛcchamāna eti
Thus, mortal Agni, accepting the priestly fee, he who offers the oblation, gives the gods the wealth; he grants the fair abode to the asker who seeks the heroic reward.

maho no agne suvitasya vidvānrayiṃ sūribhya ā vahā bṛhantam yena vayaṃ sahasāvanmademāvikṣitāsa āyuṣā suvīrāḥ
Great Agni, wise in auspiciousness, bring wealth to the brave men; by which we, full of hundreds, awaited with strength, may live long and heroic.
