वै॒श्वा॒न॒राय॑ धि॒षणा॑मृता॒वृधे॑ घृ॒तं न पू॒तम॒ग्नये॑ जनामसि । द्वि॒ता होता॑रं॒ मनु॑षश्च वा॒घतो॑ धि॒या रथं॒ न कुलि॑शः॒ समृ॑ण्वति
vaiśvānarāya dhiṣaṇāmṛtāvṛdhe ghṛtaṃ na pūtamagnaye janāmasi dvitā hotāraṃ manuṣaśca vāghato dhiyā rathaṃ na kuliśaḥ samṛṇvati
For the widespread manly host you have waxed in thought and in might; you are pure butter to Agni among men. The twofold sacrificer and mortal both, with keen thought, set the chariot—heavenly lash—moving.

स रो॑चयज्ज॒नुषा॒ रोद॑सी उ॒भे स मा॒त्रोर॑भवत्पु॒त्र ईड्यः॑ । ह॒व्य॒वाळ॒ग्निर॒जर॒श्चनो॑हितो दू॒ळभो॑ वि॒शामति॑थिर्वि॒भाव॑सुः
sa rocayajjanuṣā rodasī ubhe sa mātrorabhavatputra īḍyaḥ havyavāḷagnirajaraścanohito dūḷabho viśāmatithirvibhāvasuḥ
He kindled you with oblations and with sacrifice; both were measures of mine—son, desired. The fire, bearer of offerings, unwearied, ungrudging, rare, spreads hospitality and shines like sovereign home.

क्रत्वा॒ दक्ष॑स्य॒ तरु॑षो॒ विध॑र्मणि दे॒वासो॑ अ॒ग्निं ज॑नयन्त॒ चित्ति॑भिः । रु॒रु॒चा॒नं भा॒नुना॒ ज्योति॑षा म॒हामत्यं॒ न वाजं॑ सनि॒ष्यन्नुप॑ ब्रुवे
kratvā dakṣasya taruṣo vidharmaṇi devāso agniṃ janayanta cittibhiḥ rurucānaṃ bhānunā jyotiṣā mahāmatyaṃ na vājaṃ saniṣyannupa bruve
By rite they fashioned the wood of Daksha, the gods engendered Agni with mind. With shining splendour like the sun through light they called forth great power; I speak not of vain wealth.

ā mandrasya saniṣyanto vareṇyaṃ vṛṇīmahe ahrayaṃ vājamṛgmiyam rātiṃ bhṛgūṇāmuśijaṃ kavikratumagniṃ rājantaṃ divyena śociṣā
We have chosen the best by invoking Mandrasya; we sought the prize, the excellence, the noble treasure. Night of the Bhṛgus bears the starry offspring; poets fashioned Agni, royal, with divine lamentation.

अ॒ग्निं सु॒म्नाय॑ दधिरे पु॒रो जना॒ वाज॑श्रवसमि॒ह वृ॒क्तब॑र्हिषः । य॒तस्रु॑चः सु॒रुचं॑ वि॒श्वदे॑व्यं रु॒द्रं य॒ज्ञानां॒ साध॑दिष्टिम॒पसा॑म्
agniṃ sumnāya dadhire puro janā vājaśravasamiha vṛktabarhiṣaḥ yatasrucaḥ surucaṃ viśvadevyaṃ rudraṃ yajñānāṃ sādhadiṣṭimapasām
They set Agni for the good within the town; the people, famed for riches and praise, stood with braided ritual staffs. That bright, all-pleasing, widely-giving Rudra, honoured in sacrifices, bestowed the priests' desired portion.

पाव॑कशोचे॒ तव॒ हि क्षयं॒ परि॒ होत॑र्य॒ज्ञेषु॑ वृ॒क्तब॑र्हिषो॒ नरः॑ । अग्ने॒ दुव॑ इ॒च्छमा॑नास॒ आप्य॒मुपा॑सते॒ द्रवि॑णं धेहि॒ तेभ्यः॑
pāvakaśoce tava hi kṣayaṃ pari hotaryajñeṣu vṛktabarhiṣo naraḥ agne duva icchamānāsa āpyamupāsate draviṇaṃ dhehi tebhyaḥ
Purifying fire laments your wasting away indeed; men with braided ritual staves bring offerings around the sacrificer. Agni, grant the wealth they desire; accept these, bestow upon them.

आ रोद॑सी अपृण॒दा स्व॑र्म॒हज्जा॒तं यदे॑नम॒पसो॒ अधा॑रयन् । सो अ॑ध्व॒राय॒ परि॑ णीयते क॒विरत्यो॒ न वाज॑सातये॒ चनो॑हितः
ā rodasī apṛṇadā svarmahajjātaṃ yadenamapaso adhārayan so adhvarāya pari ṇīyate kaviratyo na vājasātaye canohitaḥ
O generous giver, when the oblation was placed by you beneath the waters, you brought forth what was born of heat. For the transgressor one is set aside; the sage taking counsel does not desire sordid gain.

न॒म॒स्यत॑ ह॒व्यदा॑तिं स्वध्व॒रं दु॑व॒स्यत॒ दम्यं॑ जा॒तवे॑दसम् । र॒थीरृ॒तस्य॑ बृह॒तो विच॑र्षणिर॒ग्निर्दे॒वाना॑मभवत्पु॒रोहि॑तः
namasyata havyadātiṃ svadhvaraṃ duvasyata damyaṃ jātavedasam rathīrṛtasya bṛhato vicarṣaṇiragnirdevānāmabhavatpurohitaḥ
He honored the oblation, endowed the altar, tamed the wavering host, the knower-of-sacrifice. The chariot-chief of truth, a great purifier, Agni became the priest of the gods formerly.

ति॒स्रो य॒ह्वस्य॑ स॒मिधः॒ परि॑ज्मनो॒ऽग्नेर॑पुनन्नु॒शिजो॒ अमृ॑त्यवः । तासा॒मेका॒मद॑धु॒र्मर्त्ये॒ भुज॑मु लो॒कमु॒ द्वे उप॑ जा॒मिमी॑यतुः
tisro yahvasya samidhaḥ parijmano'gnerapunannuśijo amṛtyavaḥ tāsāmekāmadadhurmartye bhujamu lokamu dve upa jāmimīyatuḥ
Three fuel-logs of the Yajña round about, rekindling Agni, unobstructed, deathless: they set one as equal, another they placed for mortal use; two made the world approach—thus they measured out the pair of flames.

वि॒शां क॒विं वि॒श्पतिं॒ मानु॑षी॒रिषः॒ सं सी॑मकृण्व॒न्स्वधि॑तिं॒ न तेज॑से । स उ॒द्वतो॑ नि॒वतो॑ याति॒ वेवि॑ष॒त्स गर्भ॑मे॒षु भुव॑नेषु दीधरत्
viśāṃ kaviṃ viśpatiṃ mānuṣīriṣaḥ saṃ sīmakṛṇvansvadhitiṃ na tejase sa udvato nivato yāti veviṣatsa garbhameṣu bhuvaneṣu dīdharat
They made the seer of all, lord of men, a harnesser of thought, giving not his strength away; he rises and moves forward, he sprinkled the world with seed, sustaining the wombs of earthly realms.

स जि॑न्वते ज॒ठरे॑षु प्रजज्ञि॒वान्वृषा॑ चि॒त्रेषु॒ नान॑द॒न्न सिं॒हः । वै॒श्वा॒न॒रः पृ॑थु॒पाजा॒ अम॑र्त्यो॒ वसु॒ रत्ना॒ दय॑मानो॒ वि दा॒शुषे॑
sa jinvate jaṭhareṣu prajajñivānvṛṣā citreṣu nānadanna siṃhaḥ vaiśvānaraḥ pṛthupājā amartyo vasu ratnā dayamāno vi dāśuṣe
He conquered within the chambers of the belly, the living cattle and varied food like the lion. Vaishvanara widely stirring brought forth treasure—immortal, bestowing riches to men.
Rigveda 3.002.12

वै॒श्वा॒न॒रः प्र॒त्नथा॒ नाक॒मारु॑हद्दि॒वस्पृ॒ष्ठं भन्द॑मानः सु॒मन्म॑भिः । स पू॑र्व॒वज्ज॒नय॑ञ्ज॒न्तवे॒ धनं॑ समा॒नमज्मं॒ पर्ये॑ति॒ जागृ॑विः
vaiśvānaraḥ pratnathā nākamāruhaddivaspṛṣṭhaṃ bhandamānaḥ sumanmabhiḥ sa pūrvavajjanayañjantave dhanaṃ samānamajmaṃ paryeti jāgṛviḥ
Vaishvanara, striving, ascended the sky and smote the vault, exulting with the radiant hosts. He first produced the common wealth; the awake one moves onward and attains equal treasure.

ऋ॒तावा॑नं य॒ज्ञियं॒ विप्र॑मु॒क्थ्य१॒॑मा यं द॒धे मा॑त॒रिश्वा॑ दि॒वि क्षय॑म् । तं चि॒त्रया॑मं॒ हरि॑केशमीमहे सुदी॒तिम॒ग्निं सु॑वि॒ताय॒ नव्य॑से
ṛtāvānaṃ yajñiyaṃ vipramukthya1mā yaṃ dadhe mātariśvā divi kṣayam taṃ citrayāmaṃ harikeśamīmahe sudītimagniṃ suvitāya navyase
The ritual, lawful and expiatory, the pious men set forth; grant us no decay in heaven, O Mothers. We call that wondrous Agni Hari-kesha, of noble fame, renown-bringing, newly established for holy worship.

शुचिं॒ न याम॑न्निषि॒रं स्व॒र्दृशं॑ के॒तुं दि॒वो रो॑चन॒स्थामु॑ष॒र्बुध॑म् । अ॒ग्निं मू॒र्धानं॑ दि॒वो अप्र॑तिष्कुतं॒ तमी॑महे॒ नम॑सा वा॒जिनं॑ बृ॒हत्
śuciṃ na yāmanniṣiraṃ svardṛśaṃ ketuṃ divo rocanasthāmuṣarbudham agniṃ mūrdhānaṃ divo apratiṣkutaṃ tamīmahe namasā vājinaṃ bṛhat
Not impure nor dark do we name the shining beacon of heaven; we call Agni the head of the sky, unobstructed; we salute the great preserver, the puissant one.

म॒न्द्रं होता॑रं॒ शुचि॒मद्व॑याविनं॒ दमू॑नसमु॒क्थ्यं॑ वि॒श्वच॑र्षणिम् । रथं॒ न चि॒त्रं वपु॑षाय दर्श॒तं मनु॑र्हितं॒ सद॒मिद्रा॒य ई॑महे
mandraṃ hotāraṃ śucimadvayāvinaṃ damūnasamukthyaṃ viśvacarṣaṇim rathaṃ na citraṃ vapuṣāya darśataṃ manurhitaṃ sadamidrāya īmahe
May the sacrificer, pure, unpaired, free from malice, the kindler of the mind, the wide-striking (Agni), the charioteer — not strange in form — be shown to the worthy man; may we offer this to the bearer of truth.
