They brought near the slaughtered ram, the steed, the beast — Indra with songs and joyous might smote the ocean. Whereby the heavens do not wander, people, with shoulders broad, worshipped the most mighty with priestly offerings.

The heroic ones, armed with greatness and wishful might, encompassed the atmosphere and regions with potent libations; the dexterous ṛbhus made Indra unerring, invigorating the centennial sacrifice and youthfully bringing praise.

You, having clothed the hosts, encompassed the threefold waters, having gone through a hundred strongholds. With spear and mind you brought the dreamy one to life — like Vasava’s channel you danced in the dwelling of the people.

You clothed the waters and bound the fastenings; you placed supports on the mountain for Danu’s wealth. If Vritra had slain Indra’s breath, the sun’s divine risings would be seen and manifest.

Do not, O you bewitchers, be low; do not lie by sorceries while offering oblations. You sprouted men like plants, sharp of mind, going forth to the town; you stood against robbers in those slaughters.

You were blamed in the slayings of the dry ones; you spread abroad, O blind guest, the roaring host. A great fountain you sought, O worm; the feet moved — you, divinely inspired, desired the slaying of the robbers.

All thy streams are poured forth, offered and praised; thy seat of Soma rejoices. Thy thunderbolt and arms are helpful, thy strength throws down the foes and all the hosts of the adversary are scattered.

The vow-keepers follow the streams and are unbroken; Indra shook them, the food came into being. The aged one’s splendor grows; from the eye of the dawn the praise-chanting left flank struck and wounded the foe.

He fashioned the beam, the burning weapon, sudden and piercing; the corpse is struck by the mass. May the wind of the builder be with you; the mind yoked to the man filled the air and brought the ear near.

Indra, protecting, ample, single among the tribes, the praised—no foe is able to equal you. Horse-strong, kine-strong, chariot-strong, wealthy—Indra destroys foes like torrents when they press forward.
