mā no mitro varuṇo aryamāyurindra ṛbhukṣā marutaḥ pari khyan yadvājino devajātasya sapteḥ pravakṣyāmo vidathe vīryāṇi
Do not regard me as Mitra, Varuna, Aryaman, Indra, or the Rbhus; O Marut, declaring strength around — what feats of the mighty-born shall we announce of the seven-born?

yannirṇijā rekṇasā prāvṛtasya rātiṃ gṛbhītāṃ mukhato nayanti suprāṅajo memyadviśvarūpa indrāpūṣṇoḥ priyamapyeti pāthaḥ
What the cow that has calves brings from the mouth of the opened (stall) in the night, the beloved portion of Indra and Pūṣan delights even the protector; may that be ours, O all‑shaped ones.

ए॒ष च्छागः॑ पु॒रो अश्वे॑न वा॒जिना॑ पू॒ष्णो भा॒गो नी॑यते वि॒श्वदे॑व्यः । अ॒भि॒प्रियं॒ यत्पु॑रो॒ळाश॒मर्व॑ता॒ त्वष्टेदे॑नं सौश्रव॒साय॑ जिन्वति
eṣa cchāgaḥ puro aśvena vājinā pūṣṇo bhāgo nīyate viśvadevyaḥ abhipriyaṃ yatpuroḷāśamarvatā tvaṣṭedenaṃ sauśravasāya jinvati
This goat, whether led by a mare or by a swift stallion, is taken as Pūṣan’s share by the spread‑out goddesses. What is beloved, which once the craftsmen (Tvaṣṭṛ) with their fame fashioned from horn‑split timbers, the singers carry away.

यद्ध॑वि॒ष्य॑मृतु॒शो दे॑व॒यानं॒ त्रिर्मानु॑षाः॒ पर्यश्वं॒ नय॑न्ति । अत्रा॑ पू॒ष्णः प्र॑थ॒मो भा॒ग ए॑ति य॒ज्ञं दे॒वेभ्यः॑ प्रतिवे॒दय॑न्न॒जः
yaddhaviṣyamṛtuśo devayānaṃ trirmānuṣāḥ paryaśvaṃ nayanti atrā pūṣṇaḥ prathamo bhāga eti yajñaṃ devebhyaḥ prativedayannajaḥ
What threefold mortal peoples lead forth as the divine part of the invigorating sacrificial juice, there Pūṣan first takes his share; the offering (yajña) they present to the gods, the cattle receive in return.

होता॑ध्व॒र्युराव॑या अग्निमि॒न्धो ग्रा॑वग्रा॒भ उ॒त शंस्ता॒ सुवि॑प्रः । तेन॑ य॒ज्ञेन॒ स्व॑रंकृतेन॒ स्वि॑ष्टेन व॒क्षणा॒ आ पृ॑णध्वम्
hotādhvaryurāvayā agnimindho grāvagrābha uta śaṃstā suvipraḥ tena yajñena svaraṃkṛtena sviṣṭena vakṣaṇā ā pṛṇadhvam
Around the priest stand these two, Agni the offering‑bearer, bright, with strong grasps, the well‑disposed ones. By that sacrifice, by that rightly made oblation, with voices uttered, fulfill and grant us plenty.

यू॒प॒व्र॒स्का उ॒त ये यू॑पवा॒हाश्च॒षालं॒ ये अ॑श्वयू॒पाय॒ तक्ष॑ति । ये चार्व॑ते॒ पच॑नं स॒म्भर॑न्त्यु॒तो तेषा॑म॒भिगू॑र्तिर्न इन्वतु
yūpavraskā uta ye yūpavāhāścaṣālaṃ ye aśvayūpāya takṣati ye cārvate pacanaṃ sambharantyuto teṣāmabhigūrtirna invatu
Those who set up stakes or who carry them, those who drive in posts or fashion the horse‑supports, those who cook and gather the food — may their approaches not find fault with these (offerings).

उप॒ प्रागा॑त्सु॒मन्मे॑ऽधायि॒ मन्म॑ दे॒वाना॒माशा॒ उप॑ वी॒तपृ॑ष्ठः । अन्वे॑नं॒ विप्रा॒ ऋष॑यो मदन्ति दे॒वानां॑ पु॒ष्टे च॑कृमा सु॒बन्धु॑म्
upa prāgātsumanme'dhāyi manma devānāmāśā upa vītapṛṣṭhaḥ anvenaṃ viprā ṛṣayo madanti devānāṃ puṣṭe cakṛmā subandhum
Before they came, I placed my mind in the minds of the gods; the breath that went forth is broad‑backed. Thus the seers praise this beloved endeavour of the gods and made the strong bond of nourishing kinship.

यद्वा॒जिनो॒ दाम॑ सं॒दान॒मर्व॑तो॒ या शी॑र्ष॒ण्या॑ रश॒ना रज्जु॑रस्य । यद्वा॑ घास्य॒ प्रभृ॑तमा॒स्ये॒३॒॑ तृणं॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु
yadvājino dāma saṃdānamarvato yā śīrṣaṇyā raśanā rajjurasya yadvā ghāsya prabhṛtamāsye3 tṛṇaṃ sarvā tā te api deveṣvastu
Whether the wealthy put in the price of a cow, or the cord from the foremost yoke‑beam, or the finest hay of that year — all these things may they also be among the gods for you.

यदश्व॑स्य क्र॒विषो॒ मक्षि॒काश॒ यद्वा॒ स्वरौ॒ स्वधि॑तौ रि॒प्तमस्ति॑ । यद्धस्त॑योः शमि॒तुर्यन्न॒खेषु॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु
yadaśvasya kraviṣo makṣikāśa yadvā svarau svadhitau riptamasti yaddhastayoḥ śamituryannakheṣu sarvā tā te api deveṣvastu
Whether it is the neighing of the horse, the flies on its hide, or the two musical calls at the offerings — and whether it is the matters in the hands or the nails, all these may they also be among the gods for you.

यदूव॑ध्यमु॒दर॑स्याप॒वाति॒ य आ॒मस्य॑ क्र॒विषो॑ ग॒न्धो अस्ति॑ । सु॒कृ॒ता तच्छ॑मि॒तारः॑ कृण्वन्तू॒त मेधं॑ शृत॒पाकं॑ पचन्तु
yadūvadhyamudarasyāpavāti ya āmasya kraviṣo gandho asti sukṛtā tacchamitāraḥ kṛṇvantūta medhaṃ śaṛtapākaṃ pacantu
When the reviving wind fans the moisture forth, and the smell is that of the cow’s hide — O ye who are well‑made, let the pressed fats perform; let the cooks prepare food for me, the roast and boiled fare.

यत्ते॒ गात्रा॑द॒ग्निना॑ प॒च्यमा॑नाद॒भि शूलं॒ निह॑तस्याव॒धाव॑ति । मा तद्भूम्या॒मा श्रि॑ष॒न्मा तृणे॑षु दे॒वेभ्य॒स्तदु॒शद्भ्यो॑ रा॒तम॑स्तु
yatte gātrādagninā pacyamānādabhi śūlaṃ nihatasyāvadhāvati mā tadbhūmyāmā śriṣanmā tṛṇeṣu devebhyastaduśadbhyo rātamastu
When your limbs are being cooked by fire, the thorn from the struck one reaches the wound. Not that which is of the earth, not that which is of the plant‑tresses — from those impure ones let the night be away from the gods.

ये वा॒जिनं॑ परि॒पश्य॑न्ति प॒क्वं य ई॑मा॒हुः सु॑र॒भिर्निर्ह॒रेति॑ । ये चार्व॑तो मांसभि॒क्षामु॒पास॑त उ॒तो तेषा॑म॒भिगू॑र्तिर्न इन्वतु
ye vājinaṃ paripaśyanti pakvaṃ ya īmāhuḥ surabhirnirhareti ye cārvato māṃsabhikṣāmupāsata uto teṣāmabhigūrtirna invatu
Those who regard the wealthy as ripe say: ‘Fragrance disappears.’ Those who, by the eating of flesh, aim at sacrificial food — may their approaches not find fault with these (offerings).

यन्नीक्ष॑णं मा॒ँस्पच॑न्या उ॒खाया॒ या पात्रा॑णि यू॒ष्ण आ॒सेच॑नानि । ऊ॒ष्म॒ण्या॑पि॒धाना॑ चरू॒णाम॒ङ्काः सू॒नाः परि॑ भूष॒न्त्यश्व॑म्
yannīkṣaṇaṃ mām̐spacanyā ukhāyā yā pātrāṇi yūṣṇa āsecanāni ūṣmaṇyāpidhānā carūṇāmaṅkāḥ sūnāḥ pari bhūṣantyaśvam
What is not to be seen — the meat‑cookery, the sugarcane pots, the vessels hot with soup — even heated fat and the applied ointments, the rings and trimmings adorn the horse.

नि॒क्रम॑णं नि॒षद॑नं वि॒वर्त॑नं॒ यच्च॒ पड्बी॑श॒मर्व॑तः । यच्च॑ प॒पौ यच्च॑ घा॒सिं ज॒घास॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ अपि॑ दे॒वेष्व॑स्तु
nikramaṇaṃ niṣadanaṃ vivartanaṃ yacca paḍbīśamarvataḥ yacca papau yacca ghāsiṃ jaghāsa sarvā tā te api deveṣvastu
The going out, the sitting, the turning — and what the beam‑feller did — what the partridge ate and what the grass devoured — all these things may they also be among the gods for you.

मा त्वा॒ग्निर्ध्व॑नयीद्धू॒मग॑न्धि॒र्मोखा भ्राज॑न्त्य॒भि वि॑क्त॒ जघ्रिः॑ । इ॒ष्टं वी॒तम॒भिगू॑र्तं॒ वष॑ट्कृतं॒ तं दे॒वासः॒ प्रति॑ गृभ्ण॒न्त्यश्व॑म्
mā tvāgnirdhvanayīddhūmagandhirmokhā bhrājantyabhi vikta jaghriḥ iṣṭaṃ vītamabhigūrtaṃ vaṣaṭkṛtaṃ taṃ devāsaḥ prati gṛbhṇantyaśvam
Do not let the fire, resounding with smoke and odor, scorch you; the firebrands shine forth with gaping flame. The desired and laid‑on offering, newly made, the gods receive and take, O horses.

यदश्वा॑य॒ वास॑ उपस्तृ॒णन्त्य॑धीवा॒सं या हिर॑ण्यान्यस्मै । सं॒दान॒मर्व॑न्तं॒ पड्बी॑शं प्रि॒या दे॒वेष्वा या॑मयन्ति
yadaśvāya vāsa upastṛṇantyadhīvāsaṃ yā hiraṇyānyasmai saṃdānamarvantaṃ paḍbīśaṃ priyā deveṣvā yāmayanti
When horses dwell at the straw and the golden things are to him, the price given, the foremost yoke‑beam, the loved stall — they appoint the spreading beam as beloved among the gods.

यत्ते॑ सा॒दे मह॑सा॒ शूकृ॑तस्य॒ पार्ष्ण्या॑ वा॒ कश॑या वा तु॒तोद॑ । स्रु॒चेव॒ ता ह॒विषो॑ अध्व॒रेषु॒ सर्वा॒ ता ते॒ ब्रह्म॑णा सूदयामि
yatte sāde mahasā śūkṛtasya pārṣṇyā vā kaśayā vā tutoda sruceva tā haviṣo adhvareṣu sarvā tā te brahmaṇā sūdayāmi
When that great portion of the well‑made one is with you, whether by the flank or by purchase, like a stream are all those oblations of soma on the chariots’ paths; I invoke all of those with Brahman.

चतु॑स्त्रिंशद्वा॒जिनो॑ दे॒वब॑न्धो॒र्वङ्क्री॒रश्व॑स्य॒ स्वधि॑तिः॒ समे॑ति । अच्छि॑द्रा॒ गात्रा॑ व॒युना॑ कृणोत॒ परु॑ष्परुरनु॒घुष्या॒ वि श॑स्त
catustriṃśadvājino devabandhorvaṅkrīraśvasya svadhitiḥ sameti acchidrā gātrā vayunā kṛṇota paruṣparuranughuṣyā vi śasta
Thirty‑four horses, O bond of the gods, the chariot’s wealth, their oblation comes together. He made the limbs split and by the wind he fashioned a covering, the one who bears much treasure and is mild in striking.

एक॒स्त्वष्टु॒रश्व॑स्या विश॒स्ता द्वा य॒न्तारा॑ भवत॒स्तथ॑ ऋ॒तुः । या ते॒ गात्रा॑णामृतु॒था कृ॒णोमि॒ ताता॒ पिण्डा॑नां॒ प्र जु॑होम्य॒ग्नौ
ekastvaṣṭuraśvasyā viśastā dvā yantārā bhavatastatha ṛtuḥ yā te gātrāṇāmṛtuthā kṛṇomi tātā piṇḍānāṃ pra juhomyagnau
One is for the eight‑horsed chariot’s utility, two for the teams — thus the season is. For those limbs of yours I make this offering; I pour the portions of the bodies into the fire upon Agni.

मा त्वा॑ तपत्प्रि॒य आ॒त्मापि॒यन्तं॒ मा स्वधि॑तिस्त॒न्व१॒॑ आ ति॑ष्ठिपत्ते । मा ते॑ गृ॒ध्नुर॑विश॒स्ताति॒हाय॑ छि॒द्रा गात्रा॑ण्य॒सिना॒ मिथू॑ कः
mā tvā tapatpriya ātmāpiyantaṃ mā svadhitistanva1 ā tiṣṭhipatte mā te gṛdhnuraviśastātihāya chidrā gātrāṇyasinā mithū kaḥ
Do not let the heat, beloved, set your very self on fire; do not let the oblation overtake and tear you. May not flesh seize you here, nor rending of limbs, O wretched one.

न वा उ॑ ए॒तन्म्रि॑यसे॒ न रि॑ष्यसि दे॒वाँ इदे॑षि प॒थिभिः॑ सु॒गेभिः॑ । हरी॑ ते॒ युञ्जा॒ पृष॑ती अभूता॒मुपा॑स्थाद्वा॒जी धु॒रि रास॑भस्य
na vā u etanmriyase na riṣyasi devām̐ ideṣi pathibhiḥ sugebhiḥ harī te yuñjā pṛṣatī abhūtāmupāsthādvājī dhuri rāsabhasya
You shall not die, nor shall you be cast out among the paths of the gods with harsh ones. May they bind you to the fruitful soil; may the steed‑rapid team marry you to the realm.

सु॒गव्यं॑ नो वा॒जी स्वश्व्यं॑ पुं॒सः पु॒त्राँ उ॒त वि॑श्वा॒पुषं॑ र॒यिम् । अ॒ना॒गा॒स्त्वं नो॒ अदि॑तिः कृणोतु क्ष॒त्रं नो॒ अश्वो॑ वनतां ह॒विष्मा॑न्
sugavyaṃ no vājī svaśvyaṃ puṃsaḥ putrām̐ uta viśvāpuṣaṃ rayim anāgāstvaṃ no aditiḥ kṛṇotu kṣatraṃ no aśvo vanatāṃ haviṣmān
May the well-born steed, our own swift horse, the man’s sons and all the creatures of the waters yield us wealth. May Aditi, never grown old, make for us a realm; may the horse bring offerings from the forests.
