इ॒ममू॒ षु वो॒ अति॑थिमुष॒र्बुधं॒ विश्वा॑सां वि॒शां पति॑मृञ्जसे गि॒रा । वेतीद्दि॒वो ज॒नुषा॒ कच्चि॒दा शुचि॒र्ज्योक्चि॑दत्ति॒ गर्भो॒ यदच्यु॑तम्
imamū ṣu vo atithimuṣarbudhaṃ viśvāsāṃ viśāṃ patimṛñjase girā vetīddivo januṣā kaccidā śucirjyokcidatti garbho yadacyutam
In this rite you, O guest, touch the clarifying, all-trusting lord with speech. He contemplates the sky with a pure knee; the womb that is not severed knows the unborn.

mitraṃ na yaṃ sudhitaṃ bhṛgavo dadhurvanaspatāvīḍyamūrdhvaśociṣam sa tvaṃ suprīto vītahavye adbhuta praśastibhirmahayase divedive
Not Mitra, nor what the Bhrigus proclaimed, do you restrain, O Vasus' lord — you, joyful in the great oblation, splendidly perform wondrous deeds day by day.

स त्वं दक्ष॑स्यावृ॒को वृ॒धो भू॑र॒र्यः पर॒स्यान्त॑रस्य॒ तरु॑षः । रा॒यः सू॑नो सहसो॒ मर्त्ये॒ष्वा छ॒र्दिर्य॑च्छ वी॒तह॑व्याय स॒प्रथो॑ भ॒रद्वा॑जाय स॒प्रथः॑
sa tvaṃ dakṣasyāvṛko vṛdho bhūraryaḥ parasyāntarasya taruṣaḥ rāyaḥ sūno sahaso martyeṣvā chardiryaccha vītahavyāya sapratho bharadvājāya saprathaḥ
You are the skillful wolf's might, abundant in heroism, the lord of Daksha; the king, whose sons swiftly among mortals send forth the offering, first for Vritra and Bharadvaja the foremost.

dyutānaṃ vo atithiṃ svarṇaramagniṃ hotāraṃ manuṣaḥ svadhvaram vipraṃ na dyukṣavacasaṃ suvṛktibhirhavyavāhamaratiṃ devamṛñjase
The heaven-illumining guest, the golden-armed Agni, the sacrificer, the human's helper, you long for praise; the priestly bearer of oblations, with eloquent words and fine rites, you delight the immortal gods.

पा॒व॒कया॒ यश्चि॒तय॑न्त्या कृ॒पा क्षाम॑न्रुरु॒च उ॒षसो॒ न भा॒नुना॑ । तूर्व॒न्न याम॒न्नेत॑शस्य॒ नू रण॒ आ यो घृ॒णे न त॑तृषा॒णो अ॒जरः॑
pāvakayā yaścitayantyā kṛpā kṣāmanruruca uṣaso na bhānunā tūrvanna yāmannetaśasya nū raṇa ā yo ghṛṇe na tatṛṣāṇo ajaraḥ
Whoever contemplates by the fire with pity, with forgiving mind, dawn not with the sun; he does not hunger for hatred, nor age unblest.

अ॒ग्निम॑ग्निं वः स॒मिधा॑ दुवस्यत प्रि॒यम्प्रि॑यं वो॒ अति॑थिं गृणी॒षणि॑ । उप॑ वो गी॒र्भिर॒मृतं॑ विवासत दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॒ वन॑ते॒ हि वार्यं॑ दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॒ वन॑ते॒ हि नो॒ दुवः॑
agnimagniṃ vaḥ samidhā duvasyata priyampriyaṃ vo atithiṃ gṛṇīṣaṇi upa vo gīrbhiramṛtaṃ vivāsata devo deveṣu vanate hi vāryaṃ devo deveṣu vanate hi no duvaḥ
Agni, set the fires for us with fuel; you, pleasing one, accept this guest offering. With holy hymns bring us immortality among the gods; the god brings wealth among the gods, the god brings wealth to us.

samiddhamagniṃ samidhā girā gṛṇe śuciṃ pāvakaṃ puro adhvare dhruvam vipraṃ hotāraṃ puruvāramadruhaṃ kaviṃ sumnairīmahe jātavedasam
I hymn the fuelled Agni, I call the lucid, purefire at the fore of the path, steadfast. I invoke the priest, the bearer of oblation, the ancient priest, the seer, the knower of births.

tvāṃ dūtamagne amṛtaṃ yugeyuge havyavāhaṃ dadhire pāyumīḍyam devāsaśca martāsaśca jāgṛviṃ vibhuṃ viśpatiṃ namasā ni ṣedire
O Agni, as your messenger you have borne immortality from age to age; carrying the offering we have given you to the gods and to mortals, we salute the mighty, widespread Lord.

वि॒भूष॑न्नग्न उ॒भया॒ँ अनु॑ व्र॒ता दू॒तो दे॒वानां॒ रज॑सी॒ समी॑यसे । यत्ते॑ धी॒तिं सु॑म॒तिमा॑वृणी॒महेऽध॑ स्मा नस्त्रि॒वरू॑थः शि॒वो भ॑व
vibhūṣannagna ubhayām̐ anu vratā dūto devānāṃ rajasī samīyase yatte dhītiṃ sumatimāvṛṇīmahe'dha smā nastrivarūthaḥ śivo bhava
Adorned Agni, messenger in both ways, you observe the rites of the gods in the realm of passion; may you unveil wise counsels to us — be auspicious, vigorous and beneficent.

तं सु॒प्रती॑कं सु॒दृशं॒ स्वञ्च॒मवि॑द्वांसो वि॒दुष्ट॑रं सपेम । स य॑क्ष॒द्विश्वा॑ व॒युना॑नि वि॒द्वान्प्र ह॒व्यम॒ग्निर॒मृते॑षु वोचत्
taṃ supratīkaṃ sudṛśaṃ svañcamavidvāṃso viduṣṭaraṃ sapema sa yakṣadviśvā vayunāni vidvānpra havyamagniramṛteṣu vocat
I invoke that well-marked, well-seen protector, expert among the ignorant and knowing among the wise. He who, knowing all things, through the wind spoke the sacred offerings to the immortal ones.

तम॑ग्ने पास्यु॒त तं पि॑पर्षि॒ यस्त॒ आन॑ट् क॒वये॑ शूर धी॒तिम् । य॒ज्ञस्य॑ वा॒ निशि॑तिं॒ वोदि॑तिं वा॒ तमित्पृ॑णक्षि॒ शव॑सो॒त रा॒या
tamagne pāsyuta taṃ piparṣi yasta ānaṭ kavaye śūra dhītim yajñasya vā niśitiṃ voditiṃ vā tamitpṛṇakṣi śavasota rāyā
That Agni, invoked, desired by him who is a bold poet with thought, brings the wakefulness or the fame of the sacrifice by night; he fills the realm of the dead and the assembly for the people.

त्वम॑ग्ने वनुष्य॒तो नि पा॑हि॒ त्वमु॑ नः सहसावन्नव॒द्यात् । सं त्वा॑ ध्वस्म॒न्वद॒भ्ये॑तु॒ पाथः॒ सं र॒यिः स्पृ॑ह॒याय्यः॑ सह॒स्री
tvamagne vanuṣyato ni pāhi tvamu naḥ sahasāvannavadyāt saṃ tvā dhvasmanvadabhyetu pāthaḥ saṃ rayiḥ spṛhayāyyaḥ sahasrī
Agni, protect us from the forest-side; be with us so that a thousand times you may speak; may you come to our smoke and approach the lofty path, the wealth-desiring one with thousands of strengths.

अ॒ग्निर्होता॑ गृ॒हप॑तिः॒ स राजा॒ विश्वा॑ वेद॒ जनि॑मा जा॒तवे॑दाः । दे॒वाना॑मु॒त यो मर्त्या॑नां॒ यजि॑ष्ठः॒ स प्र य॑जतामृ॒तावा॑
agnirhotā gṛhapatiḥ sa rājā viśvā veda janimā jātavedāḥ devānāmuta yo martyānāṃ yajiṣṭhaḥ sa pra yajatāmṛtāvā
Agni, sacrificer and house-master, king who knows all, born of the born-knowers. He who among gods and men is foremost in worship — may he be the best among sacrificers for those who desire immortality.

अग्ने॒ यद॒द्य वि॒शो अ॑ध्वरस्य होतः॒ पाव॑कशोचे॒ वेष्ट्वं हि यज्वा॑ । ऋ॒ता य॑जासि महि॒ना वि यद्भूर्ह॒व्या व॑ह यविष्ठ॒ या ते॑ अ॒द्य
agne yadadya viśo adhvarasya hotaḥ pāvakaśoce veṣṭvaṃ hi yajvā ṛtā yajāsi mahinā vi yadbhūrhavyā vaha yaviṣṭha yā te adya
Agni, today as the priest of the world’s path you shine, cleanser and bearer of oblation; you perform the established offering rightly. Do what is great: carry the wide oblations and what is proper today.

अ॒भि प्रयां॑सि॒ सुधि॑तानि॒ हि ख्यो नि त्वा॑ दधीत॒ रोद॑सी॒ यज॑ध्यै । अवा॑ नो मघव॒न्वाज॑साता॒वग्ने॒ विश्वा॑नि दुरि॒ता त॑रेम॒ ता त॑रेम॒ तवाव॑सा तरेम
abhi prayāṃsi sudhitāni hi khyo ni tvā dadhīta rodasī yajadhyai avā no maghavanvājasātāvagne viśvāni duritā tarema tā tarema tavāvasā tarema
You advance with pure thoughts; may the bright ones sustain you for the ritual-day. Grant us wealth, O Agni, worthy of the generous: deliver all distress away from us, rescue, rescue, spare us by your favour.

अग्ने॒ विश्वे॑भिः स्वनीक दे॒वैरूर्णा॑वन्तं प्रथ॒मः सी॑द॒ योनि॑म् । कु॒ला॒यिनं॑ घृ॒तव॑न्तं सवि॒त्रे य॒ज्ञं न॑य॒ यज॑मानाय सा॒धु
agne viśvebhiḥ svanīka devairūrṇāvantaṃ prathamaḥ sīda yonim kulāyinaṃ ghṛtavantaṃ savitre yajñaṃ naya yajamānāya sādhu
Agni, filled with your own gods and all beings, you first established the womb of origin. O nourisher endowed with ghee, bring the sacrifice to Savitr for the sacrificer — be auspicious.

इ॒ममु॒ त्यम॑थर्व॒वद॒ग्निं म॑न्थन्ति वे॒धसः॑ । यम॑ङ्कू॒यन्त॒मान॑य॒न्नमू॑रं श्या॒व्या॑भ्यः
imamu tyamatharvavadagniṃ manthanti vedhasaḥ yamaṅkūyantamānayannamūraṃ śyāvyābhyaḥ
They churn this Agni, say the Atharvans — the wise ones probe him. They strike him down, they bring him hither from dark, from the dusky ones.

जनि॑ष्वा दे॒ववी॑तये स॒र्वता॑ता स्व॒स्तये॑ । आ दे॒वान्व॑क्ष्य॒मृता॑ँ ऋता॒वृधो॑ य॒ज्ञं दे॒वेषु॑ पिस्पृशः
janiṣvā devavītaye sarvatātā svastaye ā devānvakṣyamṛtām̐ ṛtāvṛdho yajñaṃ deveṣu pispṛśaḥ
Be born for the victory of gods, for welfare everywhere. Bring forth the immortal orders of the gods; may the growing sacrifice touch the gods.

व॒यमु॑ त्वा गृहपते जनाना॒मग्ने॒ अक॑र्म स॒मिधा॑ बृ॒हन्त॑म् । अ॒स्थू॒रि नो॒ गार्ह॑पत्यानि सन्तु ति॒ग्मेन॑ न॒स्तेज॑सा॒ सं शि॑शाधि
vayamu tvā gṛhapate janānāmagne akarma samidhā bṛhantam asthūri no gārhapatyāni santu tigmena nastejasā saṃ śiśādhi
O household Agni, you are the protector of families, you increase the fuel of action. Let our domestic possessions be firm; with vigorous might strengthen us and keep us secure.
