उपे॑मसृक्षि वाज॒युर्व॑च॒स्यां चनो॑ दधीत ना॒द्यो गिरो॑ मे । अ॒पां नपा॑दाशु॒हेमा॑ कु॒वित्स सु॒पेश॑सस्करति॒ जोषि॑ष॒द्धि
upemasṛkṣi vājayurvacasyāṃ cano dadhīta nādyo giro me apāṃ napādāśuhemā kuvitsa supeśasaskarati joṣiṣaddhi
May the swift-spoken Vajiayu sprinkle upon me; let the voice of the song be placed in my speech. May the waters quickly bear offspring; may the radiant ones make me fruitful with the splendour of the worshipful.

इ॒मं स्व॑स्मै हृ॒द आ सुत॑ष्टं॒ मन्त्रं॑ वोचेम कु॒विद॑स्य॒ वेद॑त् । अ॒पां नपा॑दसु॒र्य॑स्य म॒ह्ना विश्वा॑न्य॒र्यो भुव॑ना जजान
imaṃ svasmai hṛda ā sutaṣṭaṃ mantraṃ vocema kuvidasya vedat apāṃ napādasuryasya mahnā viśvānyaryo bhuvanā jajāna
I speak this heartfelt, well-pleasing mantra for myself; the knower declared it. At the sun’s feet the waters, by their great might, produced all the worlds.

सम॒न्या यन्त्युप॑ यन्त्य॒न्याः स॑मा॒नमू॒र्वं न॒द्यः॑ पृणन्ति । तमू॒ शुचिं॒ शुच॑यो दीदि॒वांस॑म॒पां नपा॑तं॒ परि॑ तस्थु॒रापः॑
samanyā yantyupa yantyanyāḥ samānamūrvaṃ nadyaḥ pṛṇanti tamū śuciṃ śucayo dīdivāṃsamapāṃ napātaṃ pari tasthurāpaḥ
They come together alike, they go in likeness; with a common height the rivers swell and are fulfilled. May that pure brilliance, the luminous ones of the day, stand around the falling waters.

तमस्मे॑रा युव॒तयो॒ युवा॑नं मर्मृ॒ज्यमा॑नाः॒ परि॑ य॒न्त्यापः॑ । स शु॒क्रेभिः॒ शिक्व॑भी रे॒वद॒स्मे दी॒दाया॑नि॒ध्मो घृ॒तनि॑र्णिग॒प्सु
tamasmerā yuvatayo yuvānaṃ marmṛjyamānāḥ pari yantyāpaḥ sa śukrebhiḥ śikvabhī revadasme dīdāyānidhmo ghṛtanirṇigapsu
To that maidens and youths approach, pressing around her; they, rejoicing, come with bright offerings and clarified butter, bringing the streaming ghee into the sacred pots.

अ॒स्मै ति॒स्रो अ॑व्य॒थ्याय॒ नारी॑र्दे॒वाय॑ दे॒वीर्दि॑धिष॒न्त्यन्न॑म् । कृता॑ इ॒वोप॒ हि प्र॑स॒र्स्रे अ॒प्सु स पी॒यूषं॑ धयति पूर्व॒सूना॑म्
asmai tisro avyathyāya nārīrdevāya devīrdidhiṣantyannam kṛtā ivopa hi prasarsre apsu sa pīyūṣaṃ dhayati pūrvasūnām
For her three women, unwearied, serve the divine one; the goddess ordains food. As if poured forth, she spreads sweetness in the waters and bestows the nourishing food of earliest days.

अश्व॒स्यात्र॒ जनि॑मा॒स्य च॒ स्व॑र्द्रु॒हो रि॒षः स॒म्पृचः॑ पाहि सू॒रीन् । आ॒मासु॑ पू॒र्षु प॒रो अ॑प्रमृ॒ष्यं नारा॑तयो॒ वि न॑श॒न्नानृ॑तानि
aśvasyātra janimāsya ca svardruho riṣaḥ sampṛcaḥ pāhi sūrīn āmāsu pūrṣu paro apramṛṣyaṃ nārātayo vi naśannānṛtāni
Give birth to the swift one, O charioteer, and protect the radiant seer; may he who is beyond reproach among men not destroy untruths.

स्व आ दमे॑ सु॒दुघा॒ यस्य॑ धे॒नुः स्व॒धां पी॑पाय सु॒भ्वन्न॑मत्ति । सो अ॒पां नपा॑दू॒र्जय॑न्न॒प्स्व१॒॑न्तर्व॑सु॒देया॑य विध॒ते वि भा॑ति
sva ā dame sudughā yasya dhenuḥ svadhāṃ pīpāya subhvannamatti so apāṃ napādūrjayannapsva1ntarvasudeyāya vidhate vi bhāti
Her own cow, rich in milk, gave sweet clarified butter in her homestead; she, overcoming the sons of waters, shines by the ordinance of the gods within the floods.

यो अ॒प्स्वा शुचि॑ना॒ दैव्ये॑न ऋ॒तावाज॑स्र उर्वि॒या वि॒भाति॑ । व॒या इद॒न्या भुव॑नान्यस्य॒ प्र जा॑यन्ते वी॒रुध॑श्च प्र॒जाभिः॑
yo apsvā śucinā daivyena ṛtāvājasra urviyā vibhāti vayā idanyā bhuvanānyasya pra jāyante vīrudhaśca prajābhiḥ
He, pure in waters, shines by the divine law and sacred chant, spreading truth across the spacious world; by him peoples are born, and mighty progeny increases among men.

अ॒पां नपा॒दा ह्यस्था॑दु॒पस्थं॑ जि॒ह्माना॑मू॒र्ध्वो वि॒द्युतं॒ वसा॑नः । तस्य॒ ज्येष्ठं॑ महि॒मानं॒ वह॑न्ती॒र्हिर॑ण्यवर्णाः॒ परि॑ यन्ति य॒ह्वीः
apāṃ napādā hyasthādupasthaṃ jihmānāmūrdhvo vidyutaṃ vasānaḥ tasya jyeṣṭhaṃ mahimānaṃ vahantīrhiraṇyavarṇāḥ pari yanti yahvīḥ
The feet of the waters spread upward like lightning on their dwelling; their elder, splendid in greatness, the golden‑hued ones travel around — the ṛtvīs (singers) accompany them.

हिर॑ण्यरूपः॒ स हिर॑ण्यसंदृग॒पां नपा॒त्सेदु॒ हिर॑ण्यवर्णः । हि॒र॒ण्यया॒त्परि॒ योने॑र्नि॒षद्या॑ हिरण्य॒दा द॑द॒त्यन्न॑मस्मै
hiraṇyarūpaḥ sa hiraṇyasaṃdṛgapāṃ napātsedu hiraṇyavarṇaḥ hiraṇyayātpari yonerniṣadyā hiraṇyadā dadatyannamasmai
Golden in form, golden‑eyed, the streams of the waters are golden in hue; she who circles the womb with golden influence gives food to him as the giver of gold.

तद॒स्यानी॑कमु॒त चारु॒ नामा॑पी॒च्यं॑ वर्धते॒ नप्तु॑र॒पाम् । यमि॒न्धते॑ युव॒तयः॒ समि॒त्था हिर॑ण्यवर्णं घृ॒तमन्न॑मस्य
tadasyānīkamuta cāru nāmāpīcyaṃ vardhate napturapām yamindhate yuvatayaḥ samitthā hiraṇyavarṇaṃ ghṛtamannamasya
From that one name grows beautiful, increasing the radiant waters of the daughter of floods; young women carrying the ghee and food invoke the golden‑hued by their rites.

अ॒स्मै ब॑हू॒नाम॑व॒माय॒ सख्ये॑ य॒ज्ञैर्वि॑धेम॒ नम॑सा ह॒विर्भिः॑ । सं सानु॒ मार्ज्मि॒ दिधि॑षामि॒ बिल्मै॒र्दधा॒म्यन्नैः॒ परि॑ वन्द ऋ॒ग्भिः
asmai bahūnāmavamāya sakhye yajñairvidhema namasā havirbhiḥ saṃ sānu mārjmi didhiṣāmi bilmairdadhāmyannaiḥ pari vanda ṛgbhiḥ
We offer many oblations to him in friendship, with rites and salutations, with sacred cakes and offerings; I prepare and sprinkle clarified butter, I place food around and worship with Ṛg hymns.

स ईं॒ वृषा॑जनय॒त्तासु॒ गर्भं॒ स ईं॒ शिशु॑र्धयति॒ तं रि॑हन्ति । सो अ॒पां नपा॒दन॑भिम्लातवर्णो॒ऽन्यस्ये॑वे॒ह त॒न्वा॑ विवेष
sa īṃ vṛṣājanayattāsu garbhaṃ sa īṃ śiśurdhayati taṃ rihanti so apāṃ napādanabhimlātavarṇo'nyasyeveha tanvā viveṣa
She produced the womb in cattle, she brought forth the young—these they call; she, bright of hue, moistens another’s navel and envelops his body here.

अ॒स्मिन्प॒दे प॑र॒मे त॑स्थि॒वांस॑मध्व॒स्मभि॑र्वि॒श्वहा॑ दीदि॒वांस॑म् । आपो॒ नप्त्रे॑ घृ॒तमन्नं॒ वह॑न्तीः स्व॒यमत्कैः॒ परि॑ दीयन्ति य॒ह्वीः
asminpade parame tasthivāṃsamadhvasmabhirviśvahā dīdivāṃsam āpo naptre ghṛtamannaṃ vahantīḥ svayamatkaiḥ pari dīyanti yahvīḥ
In this supreme place she stands; with us she spreads the heavens and the midday sky. The waters, carriers of ghee and food, offer themselves about with their own members, O singers.

अयां॑समग्ने सुक्षि॒तिं जना॒यायां॑समु म॒घव॑द्भ्यः सुवृ॒क्तिम् । विश्वं॒ तद्भ॒द्रं यदव॑न्ति दे॒वा बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीराः॑
ayāṃsamagne sukṣitiṃ janāyāyāṃsamu maghavadbhyaḥ suvṛktim viśvaṃ tadbhadraṃ yadavanti devā bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ
O Agni, this favor is the solid treasure for birth, from the generous ones of abundant praise; all that is good and great the gods have declared—mighty are those heroic utterances.
