सेमाम॑विड्ढि॒ प्रभृ॑तिं॒ य ईशि॑षे॒ऽया वि॑धेम॒ नव॑या म॒हा गि॒रा । यथा॑ नो मी॒ढ्वान्स्तव॑ते॒ सखा॒ तव॒ बृह॑स्पते॒ सीष॑धः॒ सोत नो॑ म॒तिम्
semāmaviḍḍhi prabhṛtiṃ ya īśiṣe'yā vidhema navayā mahā girā yathā no mīḍhvānstavate sakhā tava bṛhaspate sīṣadhaḥ sota no matim
We fashion this new great song and its beginning, O beloved ruler; as our friend chants praise, O Brihaspati, graciously grant us your mind.

यो नन्त्वा॒न्यन॑म॒न्न्योज॑सो॒ताद॑र्दर्म॒न्युना॒ शम्ब॑राणि॒ वि । प्राच्या॑वय॒दच्यु॑ता॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पति॒रा चावि॑श॒द्वसु॑मन्तं॒ वि पर्व॑तम्
yo nantvānyanamannyojasotādardarmanyunā śambarāṇi vi prācyāvayadacyutā brahmaṇaspatirā cāviśadvasumantaṃ vi parvatam
He who, extending his might, covered other men’s strength with his own vigor, subdued hostile hosts and, turning eastward, overthrew the mountain—Brahmanaspati made this welling forth of power.

तद्दे॒वानां॑ दे॒वत॑माय॒ कर्त्व॒मश्र॑थ्नन्दृ॒ळ्हाव्र॑दन्त वीळि॒ता । उद्गा आ॑ज॒दभि॑न॒द्ब्रह्म॑णा व॒लमगू॑ह॒त्तमो॒ व्य॑चक्षय॒त्स्वः॑
taddevānāṃ devatamāya kartvamaśrathnandṛḷhāvradanta vīḷitā udgā ājadabhinadbrahmaṇā valamagūhattamo vyacakṣayatsvaḥ
That which the gods deemed most godlike to perform, when they, rejoicing, uttered the thunderous cry and Brahman brought forth the splendid bolt, that he declared for the firmament.

aśmāsyamavataṃ brahmaṇaspatirmadhudhāramabhi yamojasātṛṇat tameva viśve papire svardṛśo bahu sākaṃ sisicurutsamudriṇam
From the stone of mine that was not moved, O Brahmanaspati, a sweet stream of strength flowed like twofold vigor from grass; he sprinkled all directions, the many-eyed, with the moist tide.

सना॒ ता का चि॒द्भुव॑ना॒ भवी॑त्वा मा॒द्भिः श॒रद्भि॒र्दुरो॑ वरन्त वः । अय॑तन्ता चरतो अ॒न्यद॑न्य॒दिद्या च॒कार॑ व॒युना॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिः॑
sanā tā kā cidbhuvanā bhavītvā mādbhiḥ śaradbhirduro varanta vaḥ ayatantā carato anyadanyadidyā cakāra vayunā brahmaṇaspatiḥ
Have the worlds been fashioned, or not? Though you excel in joy and in autumns, do not overpower us with harm. As they wandered about, other and other acts were wrought by the wind—Brahmanaspati.

अ॒भि॒नक्ष॑न्तो अ॒भि ये तमा॑न॒शुर्नि॒धिं प॑णी॒नां प॑र॒मं गुहा॑ हि॒तम् । ते वि॒द्वांसः॑ प्रति॒चक्ष्यानृ॑ता॒ पुन॒र्यत॑ उ॒ आय॒न्तदुदी॑युरा॒विश॑म्
abhinakṣanto abhi ye tamānaśurnidhiṃ paṇīnāṃ paramaṃ guhā hitam te vidvāṃsaḥ praticakṣyānṛtā punaryata u āyantadudīyurāviśam
Those who cleave to the fountains and those who reach for treasures—these sought the hidden great store of the possessors; the wise beheld them, and again, when they retired, they returned with lofty radiance.

ऋ॒तावा॑नः प्रति॒चक्ष्यानृ॑ता॒ पुन॒रात॒ आ त॑स्थुः क॒वयो॑ म॒हस्प॒थः । ते बा॒हुभ्यां॑ धमि॒तम॒ग्निमश्म॑नि॒ नकिः॒ षो अ॒स्त्यर॑णो ज॒हुर्हि तम्
ṛtāvānaḥ praticakṣyānṛtā punarāta ā tasthuḥ kavayo mahaspathaḥ te bāhubhyāṃ dhamitamagnimaśmani nakiḥ ṣo astyaraṇo jahurhi tam
Bearer of rites, endowed with truth, they stood again firm—great poets, lords of the path. With their arms they supported the blazing fire and the stone; lo! the conqueror of the expanse offered that chariot in battle.

ऋ॒तज्ये॑न क्षि॒प्रेण॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पति॒र्यत्र॒ वष्टि॒ प्र तद॑श्नोति॒ धन्व॑ना । तस्य॑ सा॒ध्वीरिष॑वो॒ याभि॒रस्य॑ति नृ॒चक्ष॑सो दृ॒शये॒ कर्ण॑योनयः
ṛtajyena kṣipreṇa brahmaṇaspatiryatra vaṣṭi pra tadaśnoti dhanvanā tasya sādhvīriṣavo yābhirasyati nṛcakṣaso dṛśaye karṇayonayaḥ
By the measure of right rejoicing, swiftly Brahmanaspati where power dwells feeds the bowman; from him come the noble eager ones—men of many gifts—who show the seers’ ear-born visions.

स सं॑न॒यः स वि॑न॒यः पु॒रोहि॑तः॒ स सुष्टु॑तः॒ स यु॒धि ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिः॑ । चा॒क्ष्मो यद्वाजं॒ भर॑ते म॒ती धनादित्सूर्य॑स्तपति तप्य॒तुर्वृथा॑
sa saṃnayaḥ sa vinayaḥ purohitaḥ sa suṣṭutaḥ sa yudhi brahmaṇaspatiḥ cākṣmo yadvājaṃ bharate matī dhanāditsūryastapati tapyaturvṛthā
He is the accomplisher, the establisher, the chief priest, the disposer; Brahmanaspati is prudent in battle. The eye that bears the sacrificial fame upholds mind-born law; let the sun-king warm in vain not.

वि॒भु प्र॒भु प्र॑थ॒मं मे॒हना॑वतो॒ बृह॒स्पतेः॑ सुवि॒दत्रा॑णि॒ राध्या॑ । इ॒मा सा॒तानि॑ वे॒न्यस्य॑ वा॒जिनो॒ येन॒ जना॑ उ॒भये॑ भुञ्ज॒ते विशः॑
vibhu prabhu prathamaṃ mehanāvato bṛhaspateḥ suvidatrāṇi rādhyā imā sātāni venyasya vājino yena janā ubhaye bhuñjate viśaḥ
Mighty, lord, foremost of the waters, O Bṛhaspati, you are richly adorned. These swift carriages of the steed-bearer, by which both peoples enjoy the bounty, are to be sought.

योऽव॑रे वृ॒जने॑ वि॒श्वथा॑ वि॒भुर्म॒हामु॑ र॒ण्वः शव॑सा व॒वक्षि॑थ । स दे॒वो दे॒वान्प्रति॑ पप्रथे पृ॒थु विश्वेदु॒ ता प॑रि॒भूर्ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिः॑
yo'vare vṛjane viśvathā vibhurmahāmu raṇvaḥ śavasā vavakṣitha sa devo devānprati paprathe pṛthu viśvedu tā paribhūrbrahmaṇaspatiḥ
He who chose law among warriors, mighty in every form, the devourer of spoils, spoke with sacrifice. That god of gods spread far and wide; Brahmanaspati, powerful, encompassed the worlds.

विश्वं॑ स॒त्यं म॑घवाना यु॒वोरिदाप॑श्च॒न प्र मि॑नन्ति व्र॒तं वा॑म् । अच्छे॑न्द्राब्रह्मणस्पती ह॒विर्नोऽन्नं॒ युजे॑व वा॒जिना॑ जिगातम्
viśvaṃ satyaṃ maghavānā yuvoridāpaścana pra minanti vrataṃ vām acchendrābrahmaṇaspatī havirno'nnaṃ yujeva vājinā jigātam
The whole truth, the generous, the young and now the seasoned, observe our vow; O Brahmanaspati, send the offering that our food may be joined to the winning bier of the sacrificer.

उ॒ताशि॑ष्ठा॒ अनु॑ शृण्वन्ति॒ वह्न॑यः स॒भेयो॒ विप्रो॑ भरते म॒ती धना॑ । वी॒ळु॒द्वेषा॒ अनु॒ वश॑ ऋ॒णमा॑द॒दिः स ह॑ वा॒जी स॑मि॒थे ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिः॑
utāśiṣṭhā anu śaṛṇvanti vahnayaḥ sabheyo vipro bharate matī dhanā vīḷudveṣā anu vaśa ṛṇamādadiḥ sa ha vājī samithe brahmaṇaspatiḥ
The holy fires listen and follow, the priests lift wisdom and riches in assembly. The hostile horde drives back; he, the giver, stands as friend at the feast—Brahmanaspati.

ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पते॑रभवद्यथाव॒शं स॒त्यो म॒न्युर्महि॒ कर्मा॑ करिष्य॒तः । यो गा उ॒दाज॒त्स दि॒वे वि चा॑भजन्म॒हीव॑ री॒तिः शव॑सासर॒त्पृथ॑क्
brahmaṇaspaterabhavadyathāvaśaṃ satyo manyurmahi karmā kariṣyataḥ yo gā udājatsa dive vi cābhajanmahīva rītiḥ śavasāsaratpṛthak
Brahmanaspati became, as was due, the true wielder; mighty in thought he performed great deeds. He who generated songs by day and ordained rites by night—separate are the courses of the sacrificial bands.

ब्रह्म॑णस्पते सु॒यम॑स्य वि॒श्वहा॑ रा॒यः स्या॑म र॒थ्यो॒३॒॑ वय॑स्वतः । वी॒रेषु॑ वी॒राँ उप॑ पृङ्धि न॒स्त्वं यदीशा॑नो॒ ब्रह्म॑णा॒ वेषि॑ मे॒ हव॑म्
brahmaṇaspate suyamasya viśvahā rāyaḥ syāma rathyo3 vayasvataḥ vīreṣu vīrām̐ upa pṛṅdhi nastvaṃ yadīśāno brahmaṇā veṣi me havam
O Brahmanaspati, the ruler of his excellent realm, let the charioteer of fame be ours; among the heroes be thou foremost. If thou pitchest thy might for me, I will make the offering.

ब्रह्म॑णस्पते॒ त्वम॒स्य य॒न्ता सू॒क्तस्य॑ बोधि॒ तन॑यं च जिन्व । विश्वं॒ तद्भ॒द्रं यदव॑न्ति दे॒वा बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीराः॑
brahmaṇaspate tvamasya yantā sūktasya bodhi tanayaṃ ca jinva viśvaṃ tadbhadraṃ yadavanti devā bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ
Brahmanaspati, thou art the knower of this suktam and its offspring; establish the auspicious strength which the gods extol, the great hymns and heroic laws of the wise.
