ऋ॒तावा॑नः प्रति॒चक्ष्यानृ॑ता॒ पुन॒रात॒ आ त॑स्थुः क॒वयो॑ म॒हस्प॒थः । ते बा॒हुभ्यां॑ धमि॒तम॒ग्निमश्म॑नि॒ नकिः॒ षो अ॒स्त्यर॑णो ज॒हुर्हि तम्
ṛtāvānaḥ praticakṣyānṛtā punarāta ā tasthuḥ kavayo mahaspathaḥ te bāhubhyāṃ dhamitamagnimaśmani nakiḥ ṣo astyaraṇo jahurhi tam
Bearer of rites, endowed with truth, they stood again firm—great poets, lords of the path. With their arms they supported the blazing fire and the stone; lo! the conqueror of the expanse offered that chariot in battle.
Those sages, eminent for truth, having seen through the false (illusions of the asura), again pursued the main road thither, and with their hands cast against the rock the destructive fire, which, till then, was not there.
The pious ones when they had seen the falsehoods turned them back, the sages stood again upon the lofty ways. Cast down with both their arms upon the rock they left the kindled fire, and said, No enemy is he.
