Yama first made the cows go for us; this is not the herdsman's fault. Where our fathers went before, beyond, they, knowing the paths, followed their own ways.

From Matali, Yama, Angiras, Brihaspati, and the Ribhus have grown old; those whom the gods raised, and whom the gods accepted with svaha, others with svadha, they are elated.

Angirases are our fathers, the Navagvas, Atharvan, Bhrigu, the Soma-drinkers. May we be among their well-minded, the sacrificial ones; may we be in the good minds of the peaceful ones.
