य॒ज्ञे दि॒वो नृ॒षद॑ने पृथि॒व्या नरो॒ यत्र॑ देव॒यवो॒ मद॑न्ति । इन्द्रा॑य॒ यत्र॒ सव॑नानि सु॒न्वे गम॒न्मदा॑य प्रथ॒मं वय॑श्च
yajñe divo nṛṣadane pṛthivyā naro yatra devayavo madanti indrāya yatra savanāni sunve gamanmadāya prathamaṃ vayaśca
In sacrifice where heaven speaks and earth listens, where the gods pour offerings—there Indra, who leads the seasons, goes forth first with the exhilaration of victory and the strength of our might.

आ दैव्या॑ वृणीम॒हेऽवां॑सि॒ बृह॒स्पति॑र्नो मह॒ आ स॑खायः । यथा॒ भवे॑म मी॒ळ्हुषे॒ अना॑गा॒ यो नो॑ दा॒ता प॑रा॒वतः॑ पि॒तेव॑
ā daivyā vṛṇīmahe'vāṃsi bṛhaspatirno maha ā sakhāyaḥ yathā bhavema mīḷhuṣe anāgā yo no dātā parāvataḥ piteva
We choose the divine Bṛhaspati as our friend and great protector; as he was to us in former days may he be our giver and fatherly guide now.

तमु॒ ज्येष्ठं॒ नम॑सा ह॒विर्भिः॑ सु॒शेवं॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिं॑ गृणीषे । इन्द्रं॒ श्लोको॒ महि॒ दैव्यः॑ सिषक्तु॒ यो ब्रह्म॑णो दे॒वकृ॑तस्य॒ राजा॑
tamu jyeṣṭhaṃ namasā havirbhiḥ suśevaṃ brahmaṇaspatiṃ gṛṇīṣe indraṃ śloko mahi daivyaḥ siṣaktu yo brahmaṇo devakṛtasya rājā
I greet the ancient darkness with oblations and reverence; I call upon Brahmanaspati, who has well performed rites. May Indra, the great divine speaker, support him who is the king made by the gods.

स आ नो॒ योनिं॑ सदतु॒ प्रेष्ठो॒ बृह॒स्पति॑र्वि॒श्ववा॑रो॒ यो अस्ति॑ । कामो॑ रा॒यः सु॒वीर्य॑स्य॒ तं दा॒त्पर्ष॑न्नो॒ अति॑ स॒श्चतो॒ अरि॑ष्टान्
sa ā no yoniṃ sadatu preṣṭho bṛhaspatirviśvavāro yo asti kāmo rāyaḥ suvīryasya taṃ dātparṣanno ati saścato ariṣṭān
May he grant us a fruitful source, O best Br̥haspati, the all-encompassing one who exists. May desire, the royal brave one, grant that portion; may the giver bestow it and utterly remove our foes.

तमा नो॑ अ॒र्कम॒मृता॑य॒ जुष्ट॑मि॒मे धा॑सुर॒मृता॑सः पुरा॒जाः । शुचि॑क्रन्दं यज॒तं प॒स्त्या॑नां॒ बृह॒स्पति॑मन॒र्वाणं॑ हुवेम
tamā no arkamamṛtāya juṣṭamime dhāsuramṛtāsaḥ purājāḥ śucikrandaṃ yajataṃ pastyānāṃ bṛhaspatimanarvāṇaṃ huvema
We have mixed for you the sunlike immortals, they who were formerly immortal servants. We recite the pure-invoking cry, we offer the songs of the pious; O Br̥haspati, we call forth the waters and invoke them with homage.

तं श॒ग्मासो॑ अरु॒षासो॒ अश्वा॒ बृह॒स्पतिं॑ सह॒वाहो॑ वहन्ति । सह॑श्चि॒द्यस्य॒ नील॑वत्स॒धस्थं॒ नभो॒ न रू॒पम॑रु॒षं वसा॑नाः
taṃ śagmāso aruṣāso aśvā bṛhaspatiṃ sahavāho vahanti sahaścidyasya nīlavatsadhasthaṃ nabho na rūpamaruṣaṃ vasānāḥ
Those swift steeds, the invincible, carry Br̥haspati together with drivers. Together they bear the blue-wreathed heaven; the bright vestments are not coarse in form.

स हि शुचिः॑ श॒तप॑त्रः॒ स शु॒न्ध्युर्हिर॑ण्यवाशीरिषि॒रः स्व॒र्षाः । बृह॒स्पतिः॒ स स्वा॑वे॒श ऋ॒ष्वः पु॒रू सखि॑भ्य आसु॒तिं करि॑ष्ठः
sa hi śuciḥ śatapatraḥ sa śundhyurhiraṇyavāśīriṣiraḥ svarṣāḥ bṛhaspatiḥ sa svāveśa ṛṣvaḥ purū sakhibhya āsutiṃ kariṣṭhaḥ
He is pure, a hundred-leaved one; he is the fragrant, golden-clad, strong-voiced seer. Br̥haspati, he of the seers, most supportive of friends, has performed auspiciousness.

दे॒वी दे॒वस्य॒ रोद॑सी॒ जनि॑त्री॒ बृह॒स्पतिं॑ वावृधतुर्महि॒त्वा । द॒क्षाय्या॑य दक्षता सखायः॒ कर॒द्ब्रह्म॑णे सु॒तरा॑ सुगा॒धा
devī devasya rodasī janitrī bṛhaspatiṃ vāvṛdhaturmahitvā dakṣāyyāya dakṣatā sakhāyaḥ karadbrahmaṇe sutarā sugādhā
Goddess, may the goddess who is the giver of blessings enlarge Br̥haspati with greatness. The dexterity of the friend of Daksha, the mighty hand for Brahman, may she be stronger and more persuasive.

इ॒यं वां॑ ब्रह्मणस्पते सुवृ॒क्तिर्ब्रह्मेन्द्रा॑य व॒ज्रिणे॑ अकारि । अ॒वि॒ष्टं धियो॑ जिगृ॒तं पुरं॑धीर्जज॒स्तम॒र्यो व॒नुषा॒मरा॑तीः
iyaṃ vāṃ brahmaṇaspate suvṛktirbrahmendrāya vajriṇe akāri aviṣṭaṃ dhiyo jigṛtaṃ puraṃdhīrjajastamaryo vanuṣāmarātīḥ
This praise for you, Br̥haspati, well-spoken, made you mighty among the gods and the protector of Brahman. It seized the intellects, it gathered splendour, it made strong the city of men and the hosts of heroes.

बृह॑स्पते यु॒वमिन्द्र॑श्च॒ वस्वो॑ दि॒व्यस्ये॑शाथे उ॒त पार्थि॑वस्य । ध॒त्तं र॒यिं स्तु॑व॒ते की॒रये॑ चिद्यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः
bṛhaspate yuvamindraśca vasvo divyasyeśāthe uta pārthivasya dhattaṃ rayiṃ stuvate kīraye cidyūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ
Br̥haspati, you and Indra, O radiant ones, divine and earthly, sustain the realm; may you grant wealth, we praise and extol you—may you ever preserve us with auspiciousness.
