इ॒मा उ॑ त्वा पुरु॒तम॑स्य का॒रोर्हव्यं॑ वीर॒ हव्या॑ हवन्ते । धियो॑ रथे॒ष्ठाम॒जरं॒ नवी॑यो र॒यिर्विभू॑तिरीयते वच॒स्या
imā u tvā purutamasya kārorhavyaṃ vīra havyā havante dhiyo ratheṣṭhāmajaraṃ navīyo rayirvibhūtirīyate vacasyā
These rites for you, foremost among men, what priestly offering is worthy? The heroic to be offered, the invigorating new wealth—may speech declare the mighty glory in the chariot-throne.

तमु॑ स्तुष॒ इन्द्रं॒ यो विदा॑नो॒ गिर्वा॑हसं गी॒र्भिर्य॒ज्ञवृ॑द्धम् । यस्य॒ दिव॒मति॑ म॒ह्ना पृ॑थि॒व्याः पु॑रुमा॒यस्य॑ रिरि॒चे म॑हि॒त्वम्
tamu stuṣa indraṃ yo vidāno girvāhasaṃ gīrbhiryajñavṛddham yasya divamati mahnā pṛthivyāḥ purumāyasya ririce mahitvam
Praise that Indra who, by knowing, grew in praise among the singers and in the assembly of hymns; by whose greatness the heavens and earth and mortal realm expanded—he is the source of mighty fame.

स इत्तमो॑ऽवयु॒नं त॑त॒न्वत्सूर्ये॑ण व॒युन॑वच्चकार । क॒दा ते॒ मर्ता॑ अ॒मृत॑स्य॒ धामेय॑क्षन्तो॒ न मि॑नन्ति स्वधावः
sa ittamo'vayunaṃ tatanvatsūryeṇa vayunavaccakāra kadā te martā amṛtasya dhāmeyakṣanto na minanti svadhāvaḥ
He, the highest, joined the youthful vigor to the radiant sun; when will mortals behold the realm of the immortal, not diminishing in their course?

यस्ता च॒कार॒ स कुह॑ स्वि॒दिन्द्रः॒ कमा जनं॑ चरति॒ कासु॑ वि॒क्षु । कस्ते॑ य॒ज्ञो मन॑से॒ शं वरा॑य॒ को अ॒र्क इ॑न्द्र कत॒मः स होता॑
yastā cakāra sa kuha svidindraḥ kamā janaṃ carati kāsu vikṣu kaste yajño manase śaṃ varāya ko arka indra katamaḥ sa hotā
Who fashioned those rites by which Indra, having his own glory, moves among men and gazes upon kine? Who is the priest for your sacrifice, O Indra, who is the archer and who the sacrificer?

इ॒दा हि ते॒ वेवि॑षतः पुरा॒जाः प्र॒त्नास॑ आ॒सुः पु॑रुकृ॒त्सखा॑यः । ये म॑ध्य॒मास॑ उ॒त नूत॑नास उ॒ताव॒मस्य॑ पुरुहूत बोधि
idā hi te veviṣataḥ purājāḥ pratnāsa āsuḥ purukṛtsakhāyaḥ ye madhyamāsa uta nūtanāsa utāvamasya puruhūta bodhi
Long ago your ancient fathers, turning and striving, became protectors; whether middle or new or of the foremost clan, the priest made them known.

तं पृ॒च्छन्तोऽव॑रासः॒ परा॑णि प्र॒त्ना त॑ इन्द्र॒ श्रुत्यानु॑ येमुः । अर्चा॑मसि वीर ब्रह्मवाहो॒ यादे॒व वि॒द्म तात्त्वा॑ म॒हान्त॑म्
taṃ pṛcchanto'varāsaḥ parāṇi pratnā ta indra śrutyānu yemuḥ arcāmasi vīra brahmavāho yādeva vidma tāttvā mahāntam
Questioning him, the youthful priests with devoted hearts called Indra by reverent rites; brave, bearer of Brahman, we indeed know the great truths, O sire.

अ॒भि त्वा॒ पाजो॑ र॒क्षसो॒ वि त॑स्थे॒ महि॑ जज्ञा॒नम॒भि तत्सु ति॑ष्ठ । तव॑ प्र॒त्नेन॒ युज्ये॑न॒ सख्या॒ वज्रे॑ण धृष्णो॒ अप॒ ता नु॑दस्व
abhi tvā pājo rakṣaso vi tasthe mahi jajñānamabhi tatsu tiṣṭha tava pratnena yujyena sakhyā vajreṇa dhṛṣṇo apa tā nudasva
May the guardian protect you; stand firm in great understanding. With your striving be allied; with the thunderbolt, O friend, strike—now breathe forth.

स तु श्रु॑धीन्द्र॒ नूत॑नस्य ब्रह्मण्य॒तो वी॑र कारुधायः । त्वं ह्या॒३॒॑पिः प्र॒दिवि॑ पितॄ॒णां शश्व॑द्ब॒भूथ॑ सु॒हव॒ एष्टौ॑
sa tu śrudhīndra nūtanasya brahmaṇyato vīra kārudhāyaḥ tvaṃ hyā3piḥ pradivi pitṝṇāṃ śaśvadbabhūtha suhava eṣṭau
But the new-brilliant Indra, obstructer of Brahman, the brave performer of rites—thou even on the sky didst become the ancestor of fathers, always favorable, O wished one.

प्रोतये॒ वरु॑णं मि॒त्रमिन्द्रं॑ म॒रुतः॑ कृ॒ष्वाव॑से नो अ॒द्य । प्र पू॒षणं॒ विष्णु॑म॒ग्निं पुरं॑धिं सवि॒तार॒मोष॑धीः॒ पर्व॑ताँश्च
protaye varuṇaṃ mitramindraṃ marutaḥ kṛṣvāvase no adya pra pūṣaṇaṃ viṣṇumagniṃ puraṃdhiṃ savitāramoṣadhīḥ parvatām̐śca
Invoke Varuna, Mitra, Indra, the Maruts; bring us today Purusha, Pushan, Vishnu, Agni, Puruṣhadh, Savita, herbs and mountains.

इ॒म उ॑ त्वा पुरुशाक प्रयज्यो जरि॒तारो॑ अ॒भ्य॑र्चन्त्य॒र्कैः । श्रु॒धी हव॒मा हु॑व॒तो हु॑वा॒नो न त्वावा॑ँ अ॒न्यो अ॑मृत॒ त्वद॑स्ति
ima u tvā puruśāka prayajyo jaritāro abhyarcantyarkaiḥ śrudhī havamā huvato huvāno na tvāvām̐ anyo amṛta tvadasti
These sacrificers, though aged, offer you with oblations and hymns. Hearing the calling, the invoked one is extolled; there is no other immortal than you.

नू म॒ आ वाच॒मुप॑ याहि वि॒द्वान्विश्वे॑भिः सूनो सहसो॒ यज॑त्रैः । ये अ॑ग्निजि॒ह्वा ऋ॑त॒साप॑ आ॒सुर्ये मनुं॑ च॒क्रुरुप॑रं॒ दसा॑य
nū ma ā vācamupa yāhi vidvānviśvebhiḥ sūno sahaso yajatraiḥ ye agnijihvā ṛtasāpa āsurye manuṃ cakruruparaṃ dasāya
Do not withhold your word; O wise one, send it forth with all the votive singers and countless priests. Those who with fire’s tongue observed rites, they fashioned the man and set him above for the tenfold purpose.

स नो॑ बोधि पुरए॒ता सु॒गेषू॒त दु॒र्गेषु॑ पथि॒कृद्विदा॑नः । ये अश्र॑मास उ॒रवो॒ वहि॑ष्ठा॒स्तेभि॑र्न इन्द्रा॒भि व॑क्षि॒ वाज॑म्
sa no bodhi puraetā sugeṣūta durgeṣu pathikṛdvidānaḥ ye aśramāsa uravo vahiṣṭhāstebhirna indrābhi vakṣi vājam
May he make us wise, chiefs of the town, skilled in hard paths and strong in battle, who bore the assembly, who carried the shelter abroad; Indra will proclaim the prize to them.
