पिबा॒ सोम॑म॒भि यमु॑ग्र॒ तर्द॑ ऊ॒र्वं गव्यं॒ महि॑ गृणा॒न इ॑न्द्र । वि यो धृ॑ष्णो॒ वधि॑षो वज्रहस्त॒ विश्वा॑ वृ॒त्रम॑मि॒त्रिया॒ शवो॑भिः
pibā somamabhi yamugra tarda ūrvaṃ gavyaṃ mahi gṛṇāna indra vi yo dhṛṣṇo vadhiṣo vajrahasta viśvā vṛtramamitriyā śavobhiḥ
Drink Soma, O twin‑edged one, pour forth the stream, O Indra, praise the great herd of kine; you who with bold might, wielder of the thunderbolt, smote all hostile foes and crushed the mighty fiends with your shafts.

स ईं॑ पाहि॒ य ऋ॑जी॒षी तरु॑त्रो॒ यः शिप्र॑वान्वृष॒भो यो म॑ती॒नाम् । यो गो॑त्र॒भिद्व॑ज्र॒भृद्यो ह॑रि॒ष्ठाः स इ॑न्द्र चि॒त्राँ अ॒भि तृ॑न्धि॒ वाजा॑न्
sa īṃ pāhi ya ṛjīṣī tarutro yaḥ śipravānvṛṣabho yo matīnām yo gotrabhidvajrabhṛdyo hariṣṭhāḥ sa indra citrām̐ abhi tṛndhi vājān
Protect him, O puissant one, the youthful sacrificer who swiftly advances like a bull; he who bears the banner of the clan, of thunderbolt and strong pride — Indra, may he, resplendent, equip him with strength and with the price of the drive.

ए॒वा पा॑हि प्र॒त्नथा॒ मन्द॑तु त्वा श्रु॒धि ब्रह्म॑ वावृ॒धस्वो॒त गी॒र्भिः । आ॒विः सूर्यं॑ कृणु॒हि पी॑पि॒हीषो॑ ज॒हि शत्रू॑ँर॒भि गा इ॑न्द्र तृन्धि
evā pāhi pratnathā mandatu tvā śrudhi brahma vāvṛdhasvota gīrbhiḥ āviḥ sūryaṃ kṛṇuhi pīpihīṣo jahi śatrūm̐rabhi gā indra tṛndhi
Thus guard, exerting effort, and may divine speech make you strong; make the sun rise, O he who crushes foes, strike down the enemies with your force, O Indra, who drives them away.

ते त्वा॒ मदा॑ बृ॒हदि॑न्द्र स्वधाव इ॒मे पी॒ता उ॑क्षयन्त द्यु॒मन्त॑म् । म॒हामनू॑नं त॒वसं॒ विभू॑तिं मत्स॒रासो॑ जर्हृषन्त प्र॒साह॑म्
te tvā madā bṛhadindra svadhāva ime pītā ukṣayanta dyumantam mahāmanūnaṃ tavasaṃ vibhūtiṃ matsarāso jarhṛṣanta prasāham
May the mighty Indra and these swift mothers increase your greatness; they have uplifted the radiant heaven. The jealous foes abate and fall away before your awe-inspiring might.

येभिः॒ सूर्य॑मु॒षसं॑ मन्दसा॒नोऽवा॑स॒योऽप॑ दृ॒ळ्हानि॒ दर्द्र॑त् । म॒हामद्रिं॒ परि॒ गा इ॑न्द्र॒ सन्तं॑ नु॒त्था अच्यु॑तं॒ सद॑स॒स्परि॒ स्वात्
yebhiḥ sūryamuṣasaṃ mandasāno'vāsayo'pa dṛḷhāni dardrat mahāmadriṃ pari gā indra santaṃ nutthā acyutaṃ sadasaspari svāt
By those with whom the sun dwells, careless and staying within, the sturdy ones were not left wanting; Indra circled the great flood and established the unshakable and steady light for the heavenly space.

तव॒ क्रत्वा॒ तव॒ तद्दं॒सना॑भिरा॒मासु॑ प॒क्वं शच्या॒ नि दी॑धः । और्णो॒र्दुर॑ उ॒स्रिया॑भ्यो॒ वि दृ॒ळ्होदू॒र्वाद्गा अ॑सृजो॒ अङ्गि॑रस्वान्
tava kratvā tava taddaṃsanābhirāmāsu pakvaṃ śacyā ni dīdhaḥ aurṇordura usriyābhyo vi dṛḷhodūrvādgā asṛjo aṅgirasvān
Your offerings, your tooth and enjoyments pleased; ripe fat and clarified butter they kindled. From the golden breasts of the cow, from the udder‑streams, O Angiras, you fashioned the abundant meadow grass.

प॒प्राथ॒ क्षां महि॒ दंसो॒ व्यु१॒॑र्वीमुप॒ द्यामृ॒ष्वो बृ॒हदि॑न्द्र स्तभायः । अधा॑रयो॒ रोद॑सी दे॒वपु॑त्रे प्र॒त्ने मा॒तरा॑ य॒ह्वी ऋ॒तस्य॑
paprātha kṣāṃ mahi daṃso vyu1rvīmupa dyāmṛṣvo bṛhadindra stabhāyaḥ adhārayo rodasī devaputre pratne mātarā yahvī ṛtasya
The great tooth bit, O powerful one, the wide pasture they sought; the dew they gathered beneath for the daughter of the gods. Mothers, remember the sacred order and the ritual’s steadfast law.

अध॑ त्वा॒ विश्वे॑ पु॒र इ॑न्द्र दे॒वा एकं॑ त॒वसं॑ दधिरे॒ भरा॑य । अदे॑वो॒ यद॒भ्यौहि॑ष्ट दे॒वान्स्व॑र्षाता वृणत॒ इन्द्र॒मत्र॑
adha tvā viśve pura indra devā ekaṃ tavasaṃ dadhire bharāya adevo yadabhyauhiṣṭa devānsvarṣātā vṛṇata indramatra
All the gods set you as one support of the treasure, they bore the rich wealth upon you. The gods who invoked you fashioned Indra as their chosen leader and amassed him for themselves.

अध॒ द्यौश्चि॑त्ते॒ अप॒ सा नु वज्रा॑द्द्वि॒तान॑मद्भि॒यसा॒ स्वस्य॑ म॒न्योः । अहिं॒ यदिन्द्रो॑ अ॒भ्योह॑सानं॒ नि चि॑द्वि॒श्वायुः॑ श॒यथे॑ ज॒घान॑
adha dyauścitte apa sā nu vajrāddvitānamadbhiyasā svasya manyoḥ ahiṃ yadindro abhyohasānaṃ ni cidviśvāyuḥ śayathe jaghāna
When heaven grew thoughtful and the thunderbolt stood firm, the two‑faced wonders of the mind confronted each other. Even when Indra ascended in conflict, the vital breath tore asunder and struck down the foe.

अध॒ त्वष्टा॑ ते म॒ह उ॑ग्र॒ वज्रं॑ स॒हस्र॑भृष्टिं ववृतच्छ॒ताश्रि॑म् । निका॑मम॒रम॑णसं॒ येन॒ नव॑न्त॒महिं॒ सं पि॑णगृजीषिन्
adha tvaṣṭā te maha ugra vajraṃ sahasrabhṛṣṭiṃ vavṛtacchatāśrim nikāmamaramaṇasaṃ yena navantamahiṃ saṃ piṇagṛjīṣin
Hail to you, Vasu‑craftsmen, great and fierce, you cast forth the thousand‑thunderbolt shower and wrapped the mailed host. The fleet, never‑tiring, by which the nine pressed ones pursued the foe, they pursued and hauled him down.

वर्धा॒न्यं विश्वे॑ म॒रुतः॑ स॒जोषाः॒ पच॑च्छ॒तं म॑हि॒षाँ इ॑न्द्र॒ तुभ्य॑म् । पू॒षा विष्णु॒स्त्रीणि॒ सरां॑सि धावन्वृत्र॒हणं॑ मदि॒रमं॒शुम॑स्मै
vardhānyaṃ viśve marutaḥ sajoṣāḥ pacacchataṃ mahiṣām̐ indra tubhyam pūṣā viṣṇustrīṇi sarāṃsi dhāvanvṛtrahaṇaṃ madiramaṃśumasmai
Increase, O Maruts all, with joyful accord; Indra, prepare for thee the cattle of the brave. Pūṣan and Viṣṇu, threefold steeds run—the slayers of Vṛtra—grant me the draught of wine and the sunlight’s share.

आ क्षोदो॒ महि॑ वृ॒तं न॒दीनां॒ परि॑ष्ठितमसृज ऊ॒र्मिम॒पाम् । तासा॒मनु॑ प्र॒वत॑ इन्द्र॒ पन्थां॒ प्रार्द॑यो॒ नीची॑र॒पसः॑ समु॒द्रम्
ā kṣodo mahi vṛtaṃ nadīnāṃ pariṣṭhitamasṛja ūrmimapām tāsāmanu pravata indra panthāṃ prārdayo nīcīrapasaḥ samudram
The flood surrounded the wide earth and made the streams of waters; follow those paths, Indra, and found the course low and the sea’s approaching ways.

ए॒वा ता विश्वा॑ चकृ॒वांस॒मिन्द्रं॑ म॒हामु॒ग्रम॑जु॒र्यं स॑हो॒दाम् । सु॒वीरं॑ त्वा स्वायु॒धं सु॒वज्र॒मा ब्रह्म॒ नव्य॒मव॑से ववृत्यात्
evā tā viśvā cakṛvāṃsamindraṃ mahāmugramajuryaṃ sahodām suvīraṃ tvā svāyudhaṃ suvajramā brahma navyamavase vavṛtyāt
Thus they all made Indra a great and mighty steed; may he, valiant, take up the shining weapon and the new‑born sacred vigor, and circle around for victory.

स नो॒ वाजा॑य॒ श्रव॑स इ॒षे च॑ रा॒ये धे॑हि द्यु॒मत॑ इन्द्र॒ विप्रा॑न् । भ॒रद्वा॑जे नृ॒वत॑ इन्द्र सू॒रीन्दि॒वि च॑ स्मैधि॒ पार्ये॑ न इन्द्र
sa no vājāya śravasa iṣe ca rāye dhehi dyumata indra viprān bharadvāje nṛvata indra sūrīndivi ca smaidhi pārye na indra
Grant us the wealth of praise and fame; give us the seat andrule, O Indra, the wise among the learned. Bearing the potent song, O Bharadvāja‑born, Indra please come to our side not to depart.

अ॒या वाजं॑ दे॒वहि॑तं सनेम॒ मदे॑म श॒तहि॑माः सु॒वीराः॑
ayā vājaṃ devahitaṃ sanema madema śatahimāḥ suvīrāḥ
This praise is pleasing to the gods, loving and dear; these hundred‑heroes are brave.
