सखा॑यः॒ सं वः॑ स॒म्यञ्च॒मिषं॒ स्तोमं॑ चा॒ग्नये॑ । वर्षि॑ष्ठाय क्षिती॒नामू॒र्जो नप्त्रे॒ सह॑स्वते
sakhāyaḥ saṃ vaḥ samyañcamiṣaṃ stomaṃ cāgnaye varṣiṣṭhāya kṣitīnāmūrjo naptre sahasvate
Friends, join with us in the fitting hymn and in praising Agni; may the mightiest surge of earth be with the sons, and may it sustain them.

कुत्रा॑ चि॒द्यस्य॒ समृ॑तौ र॒ण्वा नरो॑ नृ॒षद॑ने । अर्ह॑न्तश्चि॒द्यमि॑न्ध॒ते सं॑ज॒नय॑न्ति ज॒न्तवः॑
kutrā cidyasya samṛtau raṇvā naro nṛṣadane arhantaścidyamindhate saṃjanayanti jantavaḥ
Where is the precious oil in the vat for the warrior in battle? Men rouse and make living those who are worthy; the creatures cause progeny to arise.

सं यदि॒षो वना॑महे॒ सं ह॒व्या मानु॑षाणाम् । उ॒त द्यु॒म्नस्य॒ शव॑स ऋ॒तस्य॑ र॒श्मिमा द॑दे
saṃ yadiṣo vanāmahe saṃ havyā mānuṣāṇām uta dyumnasya śavasa ṛtasya raśmimā dade
He is the guardian of the forests and beloved of humankind, the worthy oblation for men; he gives the sky’s offerings and bestows the rays of order.

स स्मा॑ कृणोति के॒तुमा नक्तं॑ चिद्दू॒र आ स॒ते । पा॒व॒को यद्वन॒स्पती॒न्प्र स्मा॑ मि॒नात्य॒जरः॑
sa smā kṛṇoti ketumā naktaṃ ciddūra ā sate pāvako yadvanaspatīnpra smā minātyajaraḥ
He makes a beacon and keeps night at a distance; the purifier, lord of the woods, he protects like a vigorous fish from decay.

अव॑ स्म॒ यस्य॒ वेष॑णे॒ स्वेदं॑ प॒थिषु॒ जुह्व॑ति । अ॒भीमह॒ स्वजे॑न्यं॒ भूमा॑ पृ॒ष्ठेव॑ रुरुहुः
ava sma yasya veṣaṇe svedaṃ pathiṣu juhvati abhīmaha svajenyaṃ bhūmā pṛṣṭheva ruruhuḥ
He who in garments offers sweat on the paths— they, like well-grown bulls, mount the earth with ancestral offerings and ascend the heights.

यं मर्त्यः॑ पुरु॒स्पृहं॑ वि॒दद्विश्व॑स्य॒ धाय॑से । प्र स्वाद॑नं पितू॒नामस्त॑तातिं चिदा॒यवे॑
yaṃ martyaḥ puruspṛhaṃ vidadviśvasya dhāyase pra svādanaṃ pitūnāmastatātiṃ cidāyave
Whom mortal longing propels, who pours forth strength over the world: for the pleasure of the fathers he brings the sweet offering and the portion for the warrior-hosts.

स हि ष्मा॒ धन्वाक्षि॑तं॒ दाता॒ न दात्या प॒शुः । हिरि॑श्मश्रुः॒ शुचि॑दन्नृ॒भुरनि॑भृष्टतविषिः
sa hi ṣmā dhanvākṣitaṃ dātā na dātyā paśuḥ hiriśmaśruḥ śucidannṛbhuranibhṛṣṭataviṣiḥ
Indeed he, possessed of bow and arrow, is giver and not a mere livestock; radiant-eared, pure, he pours out the wealth of men like a shower of bounty.

शुचिः॑ ष्म॒ यस्मा॑ अत्रि॒वत्प्र स्वधि॑तीव॒ रीय॑ते । सु॒षूर॑सूत मा॒ता क्रा॒णा यदा॑न॒शे भग॑म्
śuciḥ ṣma yasmā atrivatpra svadhitīva rīyate suṣūrasūta mātā krāṇā yadānaśe bhagam
Pure is he whose rite is praised here; mothers bear noble sons when the sacred chants are duly performed and the oblations are offered.

आ यस्ते॑ सर्पिरासु॒तेऽग्ने॒ शमस्ति॒ धाय॑से । ऐषु॑ द्यु॒म्नमु॒त श्रव॒ आ चि॒त्तं मर्त्ये॑षु धाः
ā yaste sarpirāsute'gne śamasti dhāyase aiṣu dyumnamuta śrava ā cittaṃ martyeṣu dhāḥ
He who sent you as serpents, Agni, brings peace where you move; in these the heavens and the hearing rise, and attentive minds become quick among mortals.

इति॑ चिन्म॒न्युम॒ध्रिज॒स्त्वादा॑त॒मा प॒शुं द॑दे । आद॑ग्ने॒ अपृ॑ण॒तोऽत्रिः॑ सासह्या॒द्दस्यू॑नि॒षः सा॑सह्या॒न्नॄन्
iti cinmanyumadhrijastvādātamā paśuṃ dade ādagne apṛṇato'triḥ sāsahyāddasyūniṣaḥ sāsahyānnṝn
Thus did they, the singers, give the beast to the mind-born sacrificer, Agni received; Atris unwillingly took it, and together they led the hostile bands away.
