कया॑ नश्चि॒त्र आ भु॑वदू॒ती स॒दावृ॑धः॒ सखा॑ । कया॒ शचि॑ष्ठया वृ॒ता
kayā naścitra ā bhuvadūtī sadāvṛdhaḥ sakhā kayā śaciṣṭhayā vṛtā
By what marvel did the blow become famed, ever-growing friend? By what virtue are you encircled with excellence?

कस्त्वा॑ स॒त्यो मदा॑नां॒ मंहि॑ष्ठो मत्स॒दन्ध॑सः । दृ॒ळ्हा चि॑दा॒रुजे॒ वसु॑
kastvā satyo madānāṃ maṃhiṣṭho matsadandhasaḥ dṛḷhā cidāruje vasu
Who among you, the stoutest of proud ones, strongest in the assembly, is leader of the chariot’s course — O Vasu, resolute and famed?

अ॒भी षु णः॒ सखी॑नामवि॒ता ज॑रितॄ॒णाम् । श॒तं भ॑वास्यू॒तिभिः॑
abhī ṣu ṇaḥ sakhīnāmavitā jaritṝṇām śataṃ bhavāsyūtibhiḥ
O friend, the cows’ refuge brings not old men to ruin; a hundredfold let their forms be substantial.

अ॒भी न॒ आ व॑वृत्स्व च॒क्रं न वृ॒त्तमर्व॑तः । नि॒युद्भि॑श्चर्षणी॒नाम्
abhī na ā vavṛtsva cakraṃ na vṛttamarvataḥ niyudbhiścarṣaṇīnām
Do not unroll the wheel nor the practiced path of the field; do not restrain the furrowing folk.

प्र॒वता॒ हि क्रतू॑ना॒मा हा॑ प॒देव॒ गच्छ॑सि । अभ॑क्षि॒ सूर्ये॒ सचा॑
pravatā hi kratūnāmā hā padeva gacchasi abhakṣi sūrye sacā
For by sacred deeds you go forth to the place of step; you will eat with the Sun, O companion.

सं यत्त॑ इन्द्र म॒न्यवः॒ सं च॒क्राणि॑ दधन्वि॒रे । अध॒ त्वे अध॒ सूर्ये॑
saṃ yatta indra manyavaḥ saṃ cakrāṇi dadhanvire adha tve adha sūrye
When Indra and the chiefs yoked together they placed the wheels; beneath you, beneath the Sun.

उ॒त स्मा॒ हि त्वामा॒हुरिन्म॒घवा॑नं शचीपते । दाता॑र॒मवि॑दीधयुम्
uta smā hi tvāmāhurinmaghavānaṃ śacīpate dātāramavidīdhayum
Thus they said to you, O Lord of showers, the giver: he put the distributive gifts forth.

uta smā sadya itpari śaśamānāya sunvate purū cinmaṃhase vasu
Rise then quickly, O Vasus, for the appeasing of the fierce one; approach us, you who soothe.

न॒हि ष्मा॑ ते श॒तं च॒न राधो॒ वर॑न्त आ॒मुरः॑ । न च्यौ॒त्नानि॑ करिष्य॒तः
nahi ṣmā te śataṃ cana rādho varanta āmuraḥ na cyautnāni kariṣyataḥ
They will not harm you a hundredfold, O raiders; they will not perform outrages on you.

अ॒स्माँ अ॑वन्तु ते श॒तम॒स्मान्स॒हस्र॑मू॒तयः॑ । अ॒स्मान्विश्वा॑ अ॒भिष्ट॑यः
asmām̐ avantu te śatamasmānsahasramūtayaḥ asmānviśvā abhiṣṭayaḥ
May a hundred, may a thousand of your helpers come to us; may all your wished-for ones protect us.

अ॒स्माँ इ॒हा वृ॑णीष्व स॒ख्याय॑ स्व॒स्तये॑ । म॒हो रा॒ये दि॒वित्म॑ते
asmām̐ ihā vṛṇīṣva sakhyāya svastaye maho rāye divitmate
Choose us here for friendship and welfare; O great king, give us divine favor.

अ॒स्माँ अ॑विड्ढि वि॒श्वहेन्द्र॑ रा॒या परी॑णसा । अ॒स्मान्विश्वा॑भिरू॒तिभिः॑
asmām̐ aviḍḍhi viśvahendra rāyā parīṇasā asmānviśvābhirūtibhiḥ
Reveal to us, O mighty Indra, the widespread lord, in your winning might; bring us forth with abundant succor.

अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ ताँ अपा॑ वृधि व्र॒जाँ अस्ते॑व॒ गोम॑तः । नवा॑भिरिन्द्रो॒तिभिः॑
asmabhyaṃ tām̐ apā vṛdhi vrajām̐ asteva gomataḥ navābhirindrotibhiḥ
May those waters that increase us and that go forth from the cows prosper us; may Indra with new might bring us forth.

asmākaṃ dhṛṣṇuyā ratho dyumām̐ indrānapacyutaḥ gavyuraśvayurīyate
May the bright chariot bear us steadfastly, O Indra, from cattle-bearing places; may it bring wealth of kine, horses and heroes.

asmākamuttamaṃ kṛdhi śravo deveṣu sūrya varṣiṣṭhaṃ dyāmivopari
Grant us the highest acclaim among the gods, O Sun; pour forth the chief rains over heaven as in former times.
