नकि॑रिन्द्र॒ त्वदुत्त॑रो॒ न ज्याया॑ँ अस्ति वृत्रहन् । नकि॑रे॒वा यथा॒ त्वम्
nakirindra tvaduttaro na jyāyām̐ asti vṛtrahan nakirevā yathā tvam
There is no might greater than yours, Indra, no slayer of Vritra surpasses you. None other is like you.

स॒त्रा ते॒ अनु॑ कृ॒ष्टयो॒ विश्वा॑ च॒क्रेव॑ वावृतुः । स॒त्रा म॒हाँ अ॑सि श्रु॒तः
satrā te anu kṛṣṭayo viśvā cakreva vāvṛtuḥ satrā mahām̐ asi śrutaḥ
Enemies were drawn toward you; all the wheels of the world were turned around. You are a great and renowned friend, widely heard.

All the gods fought with you, O Indra, when they invoked you; you overcame the night and delivered the dawn.

yatrota bādhitebhyaścakraṃ kutsāya yudhyate muṣāya indra sūryam
Where at times the wheel is struck and men strive with curses, Indra overcame the false, O Sun.

yatra devām̐ ṛghāyato viśvām̐ ayudhya eka it tvamindra vanūm̐rahan
Where the gods with hymns assembled all in battle as one, you, Indra, long preserved the heroes.

Where men, with oblations, bound Indra and the Sun, the host moved forward with the consorts in their company.

What have you wrought, Vritra-slayer, O mighty one, O Manju’s might? Here stands the foe subdued.

ए॒तद्घेदु॒त वी॒र्य१॒॑मिन्द्र॑ च॒कर्थ॒ पौंस्य॑म् । स्त्रियं॒ यद्दु॑र्हणा॒युवं॒ वधी॑र्दुहि॒तरं॑ दि॒वः
etadgheduta vīrya1mindra cakartha pauṃsyam striyaṃ yaddurhaṇāyuvaṃ vadhīrduhitaraṃ divaḥ
This heroic deed Indra fashioned as his strength for the cattle. If a woman is hard to win, you struck down the hostile one who harmed the herd by day.

दि॒वश्चि॑द्घा दुहि॒तरं॑ म॒हान्म॑ही॒यमा॑नाम् । उ॒षास॑मिन्द्र॒ सं पि॑णक्
divaścidghā duhitaraṃ mahānmahīyamānām uṣāsamindra saṃ piṇak
By day the cows give abundant milk, the great herds are like a wide earth; Indra is allied with the Dawns and the slaughtering of foes.

apoṣā anasaḥ saratsampiṣṭādaha bibhyuṣī ni yatsīṃ śiśnathadvṛṣā
Waters and pastures, streams full and rich, were spread forth, delightful in growth; the milch-cows bore the mighty seed of bulls.

ए॒तद॑स्या॒ अनः॑ शये॒ सुस॑म्पिष्टं॒ विपा॒श्या । स॒सार॑ सीं परा॒वतः॑
etadasyā anaḥ śaye susampiṣṭaṃ vipāśyā sasāra sīṃ parāvataḥ
This stream of theirs lies stretched upon the bed, closely pressed—this far-seen river. The cows from across carry it onward.

Thus, O Indra, you spread the overflowing Sindhu afar; may you be gracious by your magic.

Thus, the mighty tree of the hot one perceived and approached him; he entered the city that bore the bundle.

uta dāsaṃ kaulitaraṃ bṛhataḥ parvatādadhi avāhannindra śambaram
Thus he brought the herd from the great mountain down, the herd-chief Indra with his mace.

उ॒त दा॒सस्य॑ व॒र्चिनः॑ स॒हस्रा॑णि श॒ताव॑धीः । अधि॒ पञ्च॑ प्र॒धीँरि॑व
uta dāsasya varcinaḥ sahasrāṇi śatāvadhīḥ adhi pañca pradhīm̐riva
Thus for the slave the splendors numbered thousands and hundreds; over them he set fivefold strength like a hero.

Thus the foremost son, the hundred-sacrificer, revealed and proclaimed in hymns — Indra bestowed glory.

Thus those three swift drains, the unwashed, the lord Shachi’s spouse — Indra, wise, cleared them away.

Thus those noble waters came forth, Indra advancing with chariots like patterned steeds.

anu dvā jahitā nayo'ndhaṃ śroṇaṃ ca vṛtrahan na tatte sumnamaṣṭave
He struck down the blind law and the trunk, he who slew Vritra; that did not harm you, O Sumna, eightfold.

श॒तम॑श्म॒न्मयी॑नां पु॒रामिन्द्रो॒ व्या॑स्यत् । दिवो॑दासाय दा॒शुषे॑
śatamaśmanmayīnāṃ purāmindro vyāsyat divodāsāya dāśuṣe
Indra spread before the hundred-stoned hosts a hundredfold of stones for the sharer of heaven, to the giver of light for the tenfold.

अस्वा॑पयद्द॒भीत॑ये स॒हस्रा॑ त्रिं॒शतं॒ हथैः॑ । दा॒साना॒मिन्द्रो॑ मा॒यया॑
asvāpayaddabhītaye sahasrā triṃśataṃ hathaiḥ dāsānāmindro māyayā
He yoked steeds for fear, a thousand thirty by strength; Indra made them of the slaves by his magic.

स घेदु॒तासि॑ वृत्रहन्समा॒न इ॑न्द्र॒ गोप॑तिः । यस्ता विश्वा॑नि चिच्यु॒षे
sa ghedutāsi vṛtrahansamāna indra gopatiḥ yastā viśvāni cicyuṣe
He is the herdsman, equal to the slayer of Vritra; he dispatched them who searched all beings.

उ॒त नू॒नं यदि॑न्द्रि॒यं क॑रि॒ष्या इ॑न्द्र॒ पौंस्य॑म् । अ॒द्या नकि॒ष्टदा मि॑नत्
uta nūnaṃ yadindriyaṃ kariṣyā indra pauṃsyam adyā nakiṣṭadā minat
If now you would make the senses strong, Indra of the realms — today the least was pleased by him.

वा॒मंवा॑मं त आदुरे दे॒वो द॑दात्वर्य॒मा । वा॒मं पू॒षा वा॒मं भगो॑ वा॒मं दे॒वः करू॑ळती
vāmaṃvāmaṃ ta ādure devo dadātvaryamā vāmaṃ pūṣā vāmaṃ bhago vāmaṃ devaḥ karūḷatī
Leftward, leftward was given; the god gave the draught and the refulgent one; leftward Puṣan, leftward the god with mercifulness.
