वै॒श्वा॒न॒राय॑ पृथु॒पाज॑से॒ विपो॒ रत्ना॑ विधन्त ध॒रुणे॑षु॒ गात॑वे । अ॒ग्निर्हि दे॒वाँ अ॒मृतो॑ दुव॒स्यत्यथा॒ धर्मा॑णि स॒नता॒ न दू॑दुषत्
vaiśvānarāya pṛthupājase vipo ratnā vidhanta dharuṇeṣu gātave agnirhi devām̐ amṛto duvasyatyathā dharmāṇi sanatā na dūduṣat
All‑peopling (Vishvanara) you spread widely; kings place jewels upon the earth for the sacrificial spoils. For Agni is among the gods the immortal who binds the twofold duties; the ancient rites were not ill conducted.

अ॒न्तर्दू॒तो रोद॑सी द॒स्म ई॑यते॒ होता॒ निष॑त्तो॒ मनु॑षः पु॒रोहि॑तः । क्षयं॑ बृ॒हन्तं॒ परि॑ भूषति॒ द्युभि॑र्दे॒वेभि॑र॒ग्निरि॑षि॒तो धि॒याव॑सुः
antardūto rodasī dasma īyate hotā niṣatto manuṣaḥ purohitaḥ kṣayaṃ bṛhantaṃ pari bhūṣati dyubhirdevebhiragniriṣito dhiyāvasuḥ
The inner messenger, the tearful, the ten‑fold one, is invoked — the sacrificer appointed among men, the priest in front. He adorns the great decay with growth; with the heavens and gods Agni the seer bestows riches and the riches of thought.

के॒तुं य॒ज्ञानां॑ वि॒दथ॑स्य॒ साध॑नं॒ विप्रा॑सो अ॒ग्निं म॑हयन्त॒ चित्ति॑भिः । अपां॑सि॒ यस्मि॒न्नधि॑ संद॒धुर्गिर॒स्तस्मि॑न्सु॒म्नानि॒ यज॑मान॒ आ च॑के
ketuṃ yajñānāṃ vidathasya sādhanaṃ viprāso agniṃ mahayanta cittibhiḥ apāṃsi yasminnadhi saṃdadhurgirastasminsumnāni yajamāna ā cake
They appointed the banner (flag) of sacrifices, the means of rites, the wise priests magnified Agni with minds. Among the waters where the mountain is fixed, there the worshipper invoked the currents and set the sacrificial songs in motion.

पि॒ता य॒ज्ञाना॒मसु॑रो विप॒श्चितां॑ वि॒मान॑म॒ग्निर्व॒युनं॑ च वा॒घता॑म् । आ वि॑वेश॒ रोद॑सी॒ भूरि॑वर्पसा पुरुप्रि॒यो भ॑न्दते॒ धाम॑भिः क॒विः
pitā yajñānāmasuro vipaścitāṃ vimānamagnirvayunaṃ ca vāghatām ā viveśa rodasī bhūrivarpasā purupriyo bhandate dhāmabhiḥ kaviḥ
Agni is the father of sacrifices, the lord of the wise, the aerial one in his car and the bearer of speech. He entered the tearful realms with abundant radiance; the poet rejoices, pressing the beloved abodes with halls.

च॒न्द्रम॒ग्निं च॒न्द्रर॑थं॒ हरि॑व्रतं वैश्वान॒रम॑प्सु॒षदं॑ स्व॒र्विद॑म् । वि॒गा॒हं तूर्णिं॒ तवि॑षीभि॒रावृ॑तं॒ भूर्णिं॑ दे॒वास॑ इ॒ह सु॒श्रियं॑ दधुः
candramagniṃ candrarathaṃ harivrataṃ vaiśvānaramapsuṣadaṃ svarvidam vigāhaṃ tūrṇiṃ taviṣībhirāvṛtaṃ bhūrṇiṃ devāsa iha suśriyaṃ dadhuḥ
They named Agni moon‑born, moon‑charioted, of sacred vow, all‑compassing, life‑sustaining, knower of heaven. Swiftly they grasped him, surrounded by flashing splendours; the gods placed him here as a goodly offering, the radiant.

अ॒ग्निर्दे॒वेभि॒र्मनु॑षश्च ज॒न्तुभि॑स्तन्वा॒नो य॒ज्ञं पु॑रु॒पेश॑सं धि॒या । र॒थीर॒न्तरी॑यते॒ साध॑दिष्टिभिर्जी॒रो दमू॑ना अभिशस्ति॒चात॑नः
agnirdevebhirmanuṣaśca jantubhistanvāno yajñaṃ purupeśasaṃ dhiyā rathīrantarīyate sādhadiṣṭibhirjīro damūnā abhiśasticātanaḥ
Agni, by the gods, humans, and living beings made vigorous, bears the sacrifice with the vigorous priests' minds. The chariot goes between, the sacrificer bestows what is sought, by the damu (sacred vessels) praised by the folk.

अग्ने॒ जर॑स्व स्वप॒त्य आयु॑न्यू॒र्जा पि॑न्वस्व॒ समिषो॑ दिदीहि नः । वयां॑सि जिन्व बृह॒तश्च॑ जागृव उ॒शिग्दे॒वाना॒मसि॑ सु॒क्रतु॑र्वि॒पाम्
agne jarasva svapatya āyunyūrjā pinvasva samiṣo didīhi naḥ vayāṃsi jinva bṛhataśca jāgṛva uśigdevānāmasi sukraturvipām
Agni, guardian of life, increase our years, grant vigour, be swift in succor; give us the food of the brave. Make our offerings rich; awaken the great hosts, O brilliant protector of the gods, famed among the drinkers of the holy.

वि॒श्पतिं॑ य॒ह्वमति॑थिं॒ नरः॒ सदा॑ य॒न्तारं॑ धी॒नामु॒शिजं॑ च वा॒घता॑म् । अ॒ध्व॒राणां॒ चेत॑नं जा॒तवे॑दसं॒ प्र शं॑सन्ति॒ नम॑सा जू॒तिभि॑र्वृ॒धे
viśpatiṃ yahvamatithiṃ naraḥ sadā yantāraṃ dhīnāmuśijaṃ ca vāghatām adhvarāṇāṃ cetanaṃ jātavedasaṃ pra śaṃsanti namasā jūtibhirvṛdhe
The hospitable man invites the all‑lord, the guest; may he always restrain the hostile mind and the slanderer of speech. The conscious ones of the paths praise the born‑wise (Brhaspati) with homage and hymns in growth.

वि॒भावा॑ दे॒वः सु॒रणः॒ परि॑ क्षि॒तीर॒ग्निर्ब॑भूव॒ शव॑सा सु॒मद्र॑थः । तस्य॑ व्र॒तानि॑ भूरिपो॒षिणो॑ व॒यमुप॑ भूषेम॒ दम॒ आ सु॑वृ॒क्तिभिः॑
vibhāvā devaḥ suraṇaḥ pari kṣitīragnirbabhūva śavasā sumadrathaḥ tasya vratāni bhūripoṣiṇo vayamupa bhūṣema dama ā suvṛktibhiḥ
The gods became guardians of order, Agni spread over the broad earth with abundant might. We will adorn his vows, the many‑nourishing one; may we celebrate him with well‑formed rites and prosperous actions.

वैश्वा॑नर॒ तव॒ धामा॒न्या च॑के॒ येभिः॑ स्व॒र्विदभ॑वो विचक्षण । जा॒त आपृ॑णो॒ भुव॑नानि॒ रोद॑सी॒ अग्ने॒ ता विश्वा॑ परि॒भूर॑सि॒ त्मना॑
vaiśvānara tava dhāmānyā cake yebhiḥ svarvidabhavo vicakṣaṇa jāta āpṛṇo bhuvanāni rodasī agne tā viśvā paribhūrasi tmanā
Vishvanara, you established other realms by means of which celestial wisdom came into being: born and embracing the worlds, O Agni, you pervade all with your spirit.

वै॒श्वा॒न॒रस्य॑ दं॒सना॑भ्यो बृ॒हदरि॑णा॒देकः॑ स्वप॒स्यया॑ क॒विः । उ॒भा पि॒तरा॑ म॒हय॑न्नजायता॒ग्निर्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी भूरि॑रेतसा
vaiśvānarasya daṃsanābhyo bṛhadariṇādekaḥ svapasyayā kaviḥ ubhā pitarā mahayannajāyatāgnirdyāvāpṛthivī bhūriretasā
From Vishvanara's fanged mouths one wide‑eating being, the seer by his wakefulness, appeared as the one who sees by dream‑vision. Both parents magnified him; Agni was born — the heavens and earth became vast by such order.
