उदु॒ ष्य दे॒वः स॑वि॒ता स॒वाय॑ शश्वत्त॒मं तद॑पा॒ वह्नि॑रस्थात् । नू॒नं दे॒वेभ्यो॒ वि हि धाति॒ रत्न॒मथाभ॑जद्वी॒तिहो॑त्रं स्व॒स्तौ
udu ṣya devaḥ savitā savāya śaśvattamaṃ tadapā vahnirasthāt nūnaṃ devebhyo vi hi dhāti ratnamathābhajadvītihotraṃ svastau
The god Savitā advanced, shining most mighty, then Fire stood near. Truly he placed a jewel before the gods and offered a second oblation for welfare.

विश्व॑स्य॒ हि श्रु॒ष्टये॑ दे॒व ऊ॒र्ध्वः प्र बा॒हवा॑ पृ॒थुपा॑णिः॒ सिस॑र्ति । आप॑श्चिदस्य व्र॒त आ निमृ॑ग्रा अ॒यं चि॒द्वातो॑ रमते॒ परि॑ज्मन्
viśvasya hi śruṣṭaye deva ūrdhvaḥ pra bāhavā pṛthupāṇiḥ sisarti āpaścidasya vrata ā nimṛgrā ayaṃ cidvāto ramate parijman
For all the world the gods were formed upward: arms, hands, feet, the earth and the limbs—he abounds. His law and limits are the flood of vow; this conscious wind rejoices and pervades.

आ॒शुभि॑श्चि॒द्यान्वि मु॑चाति नू॒नमरी॑रम॒दत॑मानं चि॒देतोः॑ । अ॒ह्यर्षू॑णां चि॒न्न्य॑याँ अवि॒ष्यामनु॑ व्र॒तं स॑वि॒तुर्मोक्यागा॑त्
āśubhiścidyānvi mucāti nūnamarīramadatamānaṃ cidetoḥ ahyarṣūṇāṃ cinnyayām̐ aviṣyāmanu vrataṃ saviturmokyāgāt
He frees from evil and from pain; truly he destroys oppression and the mind’s misery. He will break the bonds of the hostile, and Savitā’s vow released him from suffering.

पुनः॒ सम॑व्य॒द्वित॑तं॒ वय॑न्ती म॒ध्या कर्तो॒र्न्य॑धा॒च्छक्म॒ धीरः॑ । उत्सं॒हाया॑स्था॒द्व्यृ१॒॑तूँर॑दर्धर॒रम॑तिः सवि॒ता दे॒व आगा॑त्
punaḥ samavyadvitataṃ vayantī madhyā kartornyadhācchakma dhīraḥ utsaṃhāyāsthādvyṛ1tūm̐radardhararamatiḥ savitā deva āgāt
Again the twofold order was arranged; the thoughtful one set the middle in place, the steadfast maker did not fail. With eager purpose Savitā the god came, establishing the ordinance by half the roaring course.

नानौकां॑सि॒ दुर्यो॒ विश्व॒मायु॒र्वि ति॑ष्ठते प्रभ॒वः शोको॑ अ॒ग्नेः । ज्येष्ठं॑ मा॒ता सू॒नवे॑ भा॒गमाधा॒दन्व॑स्य॒ केत॑मिषि॒तं स॑वि॒त्रा
nānaukāṃsi duryo viśvamāyurvi tiṣṭhate prabhavaḥ śoko agneḥ jyeṣṭhaṃ mātā sūnave bhāgamādhādanvasya ketamiṣitaṃ savitrā
You are not of single kind; the world’s life endures diverse. Sorrow arises from Agni’s might. O mother, grant the portion to the youthful—Savitṛa has apportioned the lot.

स॒माव॑वर्ति॒ विष्ठि॑तो जिगी॒षुर्विश्वे॑षां॒ काम॒श्चर॑ताम॒माभू॑त् । शश्वा॒ँ अपो॒ विकृ॑तं हि॒त्व्यागा॒दनु॑ व्र॒तं स॑वि॒तुर्दैव्य॑स्य
samāvavarti viṣṭhito jigīṣurviśveṣāṃ kāmaścaratāmamābhūt śaśvām̐ apo vikṛtaṃ hitvyāgādanu vrataṃ saviturdaivyasya
He returned complete, settled amid all desires; he became the object of action. The waters ever changed were cast away when Savitā invoked the divine ordinance.

त्वया॑ हि॒तमप्य॑म॒प्सु भा॒गं धन्वान्वा मृ॑ग॒यसो॒ वि त॑स्थुः । वना॑नि॒ विभ्यो॒ नकि॑रस्य॒ तानि॑ व्र॒ता दे॒वस्य॑ सवि॒तुर्मि॑नन्ति
tvayā hitamapyamapsu bhāgaṃ dhanvānvā mṛgayaso vi tasthuḥ vanāni vibhyo nakirasya tāni vratā devasya saviturminanti
By you indeed even in waters they had part; hunters and bowmen stood firm. Forests and streams proclaim those rites of the god Savitā.

या॒द्रा॒ध्यं१॒॑ वरु॑णो॒ योनि॒मप्य॒मनि॑शितं नि॒मिषि॒ जर्भु॑राणः । विश्वो॑ मार्ता॒ण्डो व्र॒जमा प॒शुर्गा॑त्स्थ॒शो जन्मा॑नि सवि॒ता व्याकः॑
yādrādhyaṃ1 varuṇo yonimapyamaniśitaṃ nimiṣi jarbhurāṇaḥ viśvo mārtāṇḍo vrajamā paśurgātsthaśo janmāni savitā vyākaḥ
Whatever first was born—Varuṇa who fashioned birth—he fixed the womb even in moments for the vigorous ones. The world’s Maruta and Martāṇḍa drove forth the flocks; Savitā opened births and was their expander.

न यस्येन्द्रो॒ वरु॑णो॒ न मि॒त्रो व्र॒तम॑र्य॒मा न मि॒नन्ति॑ रु॒द्रः । नारा॑तय॒स्तमि॒दं स्व॒स्ति हु॒वे दे॒वं स॑वि॒तारं॒ नमो॑भिः
na yasyendro varuṇo na mitro vratamaryamā na minanti rudraḥ nārātayastamidaṃ svasti huve devaṃ savitāraṃ namobhiḥ
Not Indra, not Varuṇa, not Mitra, nor Aryaman, nor Rudra restrain this vow. O people, I invoke this welfare-giving Savitā with salutations.

भगं॒ धियं॑ वा॒जय॑न्तः॒ पुरं॑धिं॒ नरा॒शंसो॒ ग्नास्पति॑र्नो अव्याः । आ॒ये वा॒मस्य॑ संग॒थे र॑यी॒णां प्रि॒या दे॒वस्य॑ सवि॒तुः स्या॑म
bhagaṃ dhiyaṃ vājayantaḥ puraṃdhiṃ narāśaṃso gnāspatirno avyāḥ āye vāmasya saṃgathe rayīṇāṃ priyā devasya savituḥ syāma
Blessings and the mind’s wisdom—those who praise in assembly—may Gnaspati grant us strength. May the dear wealth of the left join us; may Savitā’s god be propitious.

अ॒स्मभ्यं॒ तद्दि॒वो अ॒द्भ्यः पृ॑थि॒व्यास्त्वया॑ द॒त्तं काम्यं॒ राध॒ आ गा॑त् । शं यत्स्तो॒तृभ्य॑ आ॒पये॒ भवा॑त्युरु॒शंसा॑य सवितर्जरि॒त्रे
asmabhyaṃ taddivo adbhyaḥ pṛthivyāstvayā dattaṃ kāmyaṃ rādha ā gāt śaṃ yatstotṛbhya āpaye bhavātyuruśaṃsāya savitarjaritre
To us he gave that wished boon from heaven and earth; O Savitā come with generous grant. Bestow what the hymn-praiser may sing; bring increase to the praising, O Savitā.
