आ॒शुभि॑श्चि॒द्यान्वि मु॑चाति नू॒नमरी॑रम॒दत॑मानं चि॒देतोः॑ । अ॒ह्यर्षू॑णां चि॒न्न्य॑याँ अवि॒ष्यामनु॑ व्र॒तं स॑वि॒तुर्मोक्यागा॑त्
āśubhiścidyānvi mucāti nūnamarīramadatamānaṃ cidetoḥ ahyarṣūṇāṃ cinnyayām̐ aviṣyāmanu vrataṃ saviturmokyāgāt
He frees from evil and from pain; truly he destroys oppression and the mind’s misery. He will break the bonds of the hostile, and Savitā’s vow released him from suffering.
The moving (Sun) is liberated by his rapid rays; verily he has stopped the traveller from his journey; he restraisn the desire of warriors for combat, for night follows (the cessation of) the function of Savitā.
Though borne by swift steeds he will yet unyoke them: e'en the fleet chariot hath he stayed from going. He hath checked e'en their haste who glide like serpents. Night closely followed Savitar's dominion.
