For the sacrifice may your chariot, O Vasya, and the all-lord, the oblation-bearer, come to the sacrificial place with splendour. Grief seized the dry mares, the yoked stallions; the bulls lowed and the banners of the sacrifice lay down upon the heaven.

They both have wrought this invocation and made right the law: Agni, the establisher of the rite. The priest no longer should be made weak; the chief minister does not abase the man who fell beneath his anger.

By force and by law and by riches we deem him mighty; soon he was named for demonic might. When the dread ones sought immortality and the origin died, the godly one turned away.

By Rudra’s roar the goers reach the floods; they set the boundary of the land with firm mind. Around them the rippling ones encircle; the streams run and the belly of the earth is loosened, the world is set free.

Indra seized the arm and found repose; the hero shone in the field and the bulls abounded in strength. They who worthy of sacrifice purified the churn; the thunderbolt they yoked to the vats — who would craft it for mortal chests?
