The ancient Angirases kindled with the fore-legs and upper parts, raising eyes upward and forward. From those who departed for the sacrifice sprang the auspicious path; the single truth proceeds with the worshipful ones.

Aṅgirasa, the prior in birth, praises (the gods, here); the uplifted stones behold (the Soma of) thesacrifice, through which (stones) the sage Indra has been exalted, (and his) thunderbolt brings forth excellentwater, (producing) food on watery way.

By reason of his birth here Angiras first sang: the pressing-stones upraised bebeld the sacrifice- The stones through which the Sage became exceeding vast, and the sharp axe obtains in fight the beauteous place.
