O Agni, bring this to us as a sacrifice: fivefold, three‑fold, seventy‑stranded. May the pressing savour of our oblation be in front of us; we long have desired its great shelter.

Godlike and not‑godlike, the god goes forth into the cave which he perceives—this is immortality. I abandon what is gentle and unkind; I cast off the circle of intimate friendship, I leave the navel.

Viewing another's feast, the stranger as guest, I measured for thee the abode of Rta and filled these peoples. I give praise to the father, to the Asura I made service; from the rite's portion I claim my share.

Many have performed the rites within me; I chose Indra, I abandoned the father. Agni, Soma, Varuna and Chyavana surrounded you; you spread the realm widely, that we might come forth.
