Those who attend to his highest power—those gods, these come with offerings, exalting with sacred rites. They, these strong ones, chose the king’s vigilance and stood against the hostile Vṛtra.
They sustain his most excellent energy, he approaches them delighting him with (sacrificial) food; likesubject choosing a king, they, smitten with fear fled from Vṛtra.
These wait upon his loftiest power and vigour: he dwells in these who triumph in their Godhead; And they, like people who elect their ruler, have in abhorrence turned away from Vrtra.
