Agni is called the supporter; the giver, the fire in the forest gives ashes to the youthful. They offered with oblations and the hymn at the household door; the strong bulls were placed.

taṃ vo viṃ na druṣadaṃ devamandhasa induṃ prothantaṃ pravapantamarṇavam āsā vahniṃ na śociṣā virapśinaṃ mahivrataṃ na sarajantamadhvanaḥ
You saw that bright god, the shining Indu, advancing over the ocean. They desired the fire and did not grieve; the loud‑voiced mighty vow kept not silence.

By whose vigour you, born of heat, are not thrown down—winds encompass and are unshaken. Their hosts fought; not the life‑force was destroyed; they pressed on, desiring the end.

sa idagniḥ kaṇvatamaḥ kaṇvasakhāryaḥ parasyāntarasya taruṣaḥ agniḥ pātu gṛṇato agniḥ sūrīnagnirdadātu teṣāmavo naḥ
This Agni is Kanva‑like, Kanva’s friend, the doer among men, the tree within the people. May Agni protect the praised, may Agni, the divine, grant to us their gifts.

evāgnirmartaiḥ saha sūribhirvasuḥ ṣṭave sahasaḥ sūnaro nṛbhiḥ mitrāso na ye sudhitā ṛtāyavo dyāvo na dyumnairabhi santi mānuṣān
Thus Agni among mortals is with the heroes and riches, numerous like sons with men. Mitras, those whose minds are right, the realms and heavens are not with the thunderers against men.

Thus, O Agni, the sons of the sacrificial smoke praised (you). The seers spoke: Protect and sustain them, and may the sky rain down; O heavenly ones, salutations! The sky rained down upon them.
