This Agni is Kanva‑like, Kanva’s friend, the doer among men, the tree within the people. May Agni protect the praised, may Agni, the divine, grant to us their gifts.
Agni, the most earnest of eulogists, the friend of those who praise the lord, the destroyer of enemies, whether far off or near, may Agni protect those who adore him, may Agni (protect) those who offer oblation, mayAgni give to us who are both these protection.
This Agni is the best of Kanvas, Kanvas' Friend, Conqueror of the foe whether afar or near. May Agni guard the singers, guard the princes well: may Agni grant to us our princes' gracious help.
