प्र ते॒ रथं॑ मिथू॒कृत॒मिन्द्रो॑ऽवतु धृष्णु॒या । अ॒स्मिन्ना॒जौ पु॑रुहूत श्र॒वाय्ये॑ धनभ॒क्षेषु॑ नोऽव
pra te rathaṃ mithūkṛtamindro'vatu dhṛṣṇuyā asminnājau puruhūta śravāyye dhanabhakṣeṣu no'va
Indra, grant here the chariot yoked with pair-wise craftsmen. In this assembly the priest offers; hear our offerings among those who enjoy wealth.

उत्स्म॒ वातो॑ वहति॒ वासो॑ऽस्या॒ अधि॑रथं॒ यदज॑यत्स॒हस्र॑म् । र॒थीर॑भून्मुद्ग॒लानी॒ गवि॑ष्टौ॒ भरे॑ कृ॒तं व्य॑चेदिन्द्रसे॒ना
utsma vāto vahati vāso'syā adhirathaṃ yadajayatsahasram rathīrabhūnmudgalānī gaviṣṭau bhare kṛtaṃ vyacedindrasenā
The winds blew, bearing the dwellings upon the chariot, which carried a thousand. The chariot became swollen like a mound of pulses; the host of Indra declared the deed done.

अ॒न्तर्य॑च्छ॒ जिघां॑सतो॒ वज्र॑मिन्द्राभि॒दास॑तः । दास॑स्य वा मघव॒न्नार्य॑स्य वा सनु॒तर्य॑वया व॒धम्
antaryaccha jighāṃsato vajramindrābhidāsataḥ dāsasya vā maghavannāryasya vā sanutaryavayā vadham
They sought the thunderbolt from Indra, desiring it as booty. For the generous one or the noble one, with the swift steeds, the slaying of the foe was decreed.

उ॒द्नो ह्र॒दम॑पिब॒ज्जर्हृ॑षाणः॒ कूटं॑ स्म तृं॒हद॒भिमा॑तिमेति । प्र मु॒ष्कभा॑रः॒ श्रव॑ इ॒च्छमा॑नोऽजि॒रं बा॒हू अ॑भर॒त्सिषा॑सन्
udno hradamapibajjarhṛṣāṇaḥ kūṭaṃ sma tṛṃhadabhimātimeti pra muṣkabhāraḥ śrava icchamāno'jiraṃ bāhū abharatsiṣāsan
They uncovered the watery lake; they tore away the reed-clump and the strong shelter, saying the mound was crushed. The weighty burden like a musk-bag, desirous of fame, the unhidden one bore arms about the flank.

न्य॑क्रन्दयन्नुप॒यन्त॑ एन॒ममे॑हयन्वृष॒भं मध्य॑ आ॒जेः । तेन॒ सूभ॑र्वं श॒तव॑त्स॒हस्रं॒ गवां॒ मुद्ग॑लः प्र॒धने॑ जिगाय
nyakrandayannupayanta enamamehayanvṛṣabhaṃ madhya ājeḥ tena sūbharvaṃ śatavatsahasraṃ gavāṃ mudgalaḥ pradhane jigāya
They came bellowing and attacked that bull of the meadow in the middle of the stall. By him the thousand-fold shining one, the herd-master, rejoiced; the pulse-mound led the cows in front.

क॒कर्द॑वे वृष॒भो यु॒क्त आ॑सी॒दवा॑वची॒त्सार॑थिरस्य के॒शी । दुधे॑र्यु॒क्तस्य॒ द्रव॑तः स॒हान॑स ऋ॒च्छन्ति॑ ष्मा नि॒ष्पदो॑ मुद्ग॒लानी॑म्
kakardave vṛṣabho yukta āsīdavāvacītsārathirasya keśī dudheryuktasya dravataḥ sahānasa ṛcchanti ṣmā niṣpado mudgalānīm
The bull was yoked at the crack of dawn, his charioteer swift-haired. From the milky stream of that yielding one the cows issued forth; the pulse-mound, unladen, poured out the herds.

उ॒त प्र॒धिमुद॑हन्नस्य वि॒द्वानुपा॑युन॒ग्वंस॑ग॒मत्र॒ शिक्ष॑न् । इन्द्र॒ उदा॑व॒त्पति॒मघ्न्या॑ना॒मरं॑हत॒ पद्या॑भिः क॒कुद्मा॑न्
uta pradhimudahannasya vidvānupāyunagvaṃsagamatra śikṣan indra udāvatpatimaghnyānāmaraṃhata padyābhiḥ kakudmān
Raising his mighty cry, the wise man taught the troop to follow his counsel. Indra, like a lord, with death-defying strength struck down the foe with swift feet.

शु॒नम॑ष्ट्रा॒व्य॑चरत्कप॒र्दी व॑र॒त्रायां॒ दार्वा॒नह्य॑मानः । नृ॒म्णानि॑ कृ॒ण्वन्ब॒हवे॒ जना॑य॒ गाः प॑स्पशा॒नस्तवि॑षीरधत्त
śunamaṣṭrāvyacaratkapardī varatrāyāṃ dārvānahyamānaḥ nṛmṇāni kṛṇvanbahave janāya gāḥ paspaśānastaviṣīradhatta
The hound with fangs pursued in the battle of Vartra, the slayer of Daityas. They fashioned numerous man-made engines; cows, like ploughs, stamped and pressed the ground, and the waters they poured forth.

इ॒मं तं प॑श्य वृष॒भस्य॒ युञ्जं॒ काष्ठा॑या॒ मध्ये॑ द्रुघ॒णं शया॑नम् । येन॑ जि॒गाय॑ श॒तव॑त्स॒हस्रं॒ गवां॒ मुद्ग॑लः पृत॒नाज्ये॑षु
imaṃ taṃ paśya vṛṣabhasya yuñjaṃ kāṣṭhāyā madhye drughaṇaṃ śayānam yena jigāya śatavatsahasraṃ gavāṃ mudgalaḥ pṛtanājyeṣu
Behold the bull and bind him with wooden bands in the midst, a heavy, sleeping one. By whom the herd of cattle—hundreds and thousands—he sought, among the offerings of barley and pulse.

आ॒रे अ॒घा को न्वि१॒॑त्था द॑दर्श॒ यं यु॒ञ्जन्ति॒ तम्वा स्था॑पयन्ति । नास्मै॒ तृणं॒ नोद॒कमा भ॑र॒न्त्युत्त॑रो धु॒रो व॑हति प्र॒देदि॑शत्
āre aghā ko nvi1tthā dadarśa yaṃ yuñjanti tamvā sthāpayanti nāsmai tṛṇaṃ nodakamā bharantyuttaro dhuro vahati pradediśat
Who then saw the harm, who beheld that which they join and set up? They do not bring us straw nor water; the upper burden carries off the road and gives command.

प॒रि॒वृ॒क्तेव॑ पति॒विद्य॑मान॒ट् पीप्या॑ना॒ कूच॑क्रेणेव सि॒ञ्चन् । ए॒षै॒ष्या॑ चिद्र॒थ्या॑ जयेम सुम॒ङ्गलं॒ सिन॑वदस्तु सा॒तम्
parivṛkteva patividyamānaṭ pīpyānā kūcakreṇeva siñcan eṣaiṣyā cidrathyā jayema sumaṅgalaṃ sinavadastu sātam
Encircled, the lord, the wise one, with a leafy staff sought the thirsty, sprinkling like a tube. May this pierced chariot of ours prevail, auspicious and full of songs, be firm and lasting.

त्वं विश्व॑स्य॒ जग॑त॒श्चक्षु॑रिन्द्रासि॒ चक्षु॑षः । वृषा॒ यदा॒जिं वृष॑णा॒ सिषा॑ससि चो॒दय॒न्वध्रि॑णा यु॒जा
tvaṃ viśvasya jagataścakṣurindrāsi cakṣuṣaḥ vṛṣā yadājiṃ vṛṣaṇā siṣāsasi codayanvadhriṇā yujā
You are Indra, the eye of the whole world and of the universe. When you yoked the bulls, you harnessed them with steeds and yoked the chariot for the strong-armed.
