प्र तु द्र॑व॒ परि॒ कोशं॒ नि षी॑द॒ नृभिः॑ पुना॒नो अ॒भि वाज॑मर्ष । अश्वं॒ न त्वा॑ वा॒जिनं॑ म॒र्जय॒न्तोऽच्छा॑ ब॒र्ही र॑श॒नाभि॑र्नयन्ति
pra tu drava pari kośaṃ ni ṣīda nṛbhiḥ punāno abhi vājamarṣa aśvaṃ na tvā vājinaṃ marjayanto'cchā barhī raśanābhirnayanti
But the chariot-driver, having encircled the treasury, sat down with the kine, returning to the forts. They do not anoint you, O hero of the chariot; the clan-leaders lead horses by bridles and bring them forth.

स्वा॒यु॒धः प॑वते दे॒व इन्दु॑रशस्ति॒हा वृ॒जनं॒ रक्ष॑माणः । पि॒ता दे॒वानां॑ जनि॒ता सु॒दक्षो॑ विष्ट॒म्भो दि॒वो ध॒रुणः॑ पृथि॒व्याः
svāyudhaḥ pavate deva induraśastihā vṛjanaṃ rakṣamāṇaḥ pitā devānāṃ janitā sudakṣo viṣṭambho divo dharuṇaḥ pṛthivyāḥ
The self-armed god moves, Indu resplendent; he protects the herds. Father of gods, progenitor, skillful, the support of heaven and the earth’s expanse.

ऋषि॒र्विप्रः॑ पुरए॒ता जना॑नामृ॒भुर्धीर॑ उ॒शना॒ काव्ये॑न । स चि॑द्विवेद॒ निहि॑तं॒ यदा॑सामपी॒च्यं१॒॑ गुह्यं॒ नाम॒ गोना॑म्
ṛṣirvipraḥ puraetā janānāmṛbhurdhīra uśanā kāvyena sa cidviveda nihitaṃ yadāsāmapīcyaṃ1 guhyaṃ nāma gonām
The seer, the sage, the city-founder, the knower of peoples and wealth, with sharp insight spoke in sacred verse. When he placed the hidden name of cattle in the inner place, he was conscious and knowing.

ए॒ष स्य ते॒ मधु॑माँ इन्द्र॒ सोमो॒ वृषा॒ वृष्णे॒ परि॑ प॒वित्रे॑ अक्षाः । स॒ह॒स्र॒साः श॑त॒सा भू॑रि॒दावा॑ शश्वत्त॒मं ब॒र्हिरा वा॒ज्य॑स्थात्
eṣa sya te madhumām̐ indra somo vṛṣā vṛṣṇe pari pavitre akṣāḥ sahasrasāḥ śatasā bhūridāvā śaśvattamaṃ barhirā vājyasthāt
This Soma is your sweet draught, Indra; Soma, Bull, rolled about the pure eyes. A thousand, a hundredfold and more, abundant riches—he stood outward as the best of offerings.

ए॒ते सोमा॑ अ॒भि ग॒व्या स॒हस्रा॑ म॒हे वाजा॑या॒मृता॑य॒ श्रवां॑सि । प॒वित्रे॑भिः॒ पव॑माना असृग्रञ्छ्रव॒स्यवो॒ न पृ॑त॒नाजो॒ अत्याः॑
ete somā abhi gavyā sahasrā mahe vājāyāmṛtāya śravāṃsi pavitrebhiḥ pavamānā asṛgrañchravasyavo na pṛtanājo atyāḥ
These Somás have come toward the cows, thousands for great strength and immortal fame. Purified ones, Pavamana streamed; they did not fall short of the mighty non-aging draught.

परि॒ हि ष्मा॑ पुरुहू॒तो जना॑नां॒ विश्वास॑र॒द्भोज॑ना पू॒यमा॑नः । अथा भ॑र श्येनभृत॒ प्रयां॑सि र॒यिं तुञ्जा॑नो अ॒भि वाज॑मर्ष
pari hi ṣmā puruhūto janānāṃ viśvāsaradbhojanā pūyamānaḥ athā bhara śyenabhṛta prayāṃsi rayiṃ tuñjāno abhi vājamarṣa
Indeed the priest (purohita) tends faithfully to the people’s trust, serving the feast; then, borne like a hawk, you proceed to the pasture, Soma, approaching with the cows for the sacrifice.

ए॒ष सु॑वा॒नः परि॒ सोमः॑ प॒वित्रे॒ सर्गो॒ न सृ॒ष्टो अ॑दधाव॒दर्वा॑ । ति॒ग्मे शिशा॑नो महि॒षो न शृङ्गे॒ गा ग॒व्यन्न॒भि शूरो॒ न सत्वा॑
eṣa suvānaḥ pari somaḥ pavitre sargo na sṛṣṭo adadhāvadarvā tigme śiśāno mahiṣo na śaṛṅge gā gavyannabhi śūro na satvā
This brave one is the shining Soma; his sacred generation was not created in vain. He did not put the young calves to the udderless hide nor the bull to the hornless cow; he was not devoid of beasts.

ए॒षा य॑यौ पर॒माद॒न्तरद्रेः॒ कूचि॑त्स॒तीरू॒र्वे गा वि॑वेद । दि॒वो न वि॒द्युत्स्त॒नय॑न्त्य॒भ्रैः सोम॑स्य ते पवत इन्द्र॒ धारा॑
eṣā yayau paramādantaradreḥ kūcitsatīrūrve gā viveda divo na vidyutstanayantyabhraiḥ somasya te pavata indra dhārā
She (the stream) went through the narrow gorge; two streams cleaved the banks. The lightnings of heaven do not wet the clouds; Indra, your Soma flows as a purifying stream.

उ॒त स्म॑ रा॒शिं परि॑ यासि॒ गोना॒मिन्द्रे॑ण सोम स॒रथं॑ पुना॒नः । पू॒र्वीरिषो॑ बृह॒तीर्जी॑रदानो॒ शिक्षा॑ शचीव॒स्तव॒ ता उ॑प॒ष्टुत्
uta sma rāśiṃ pari yāsi gonāmindreṇa soma sarathaṃ punānaḥ pūrvīriṣo bṛhatīrjīradāno śikṣā śacīvastava tā upaṣṭut
You carried the herd’s treasure around, Soma, with Indra as charioteer for the herdsmen. The ancient, mighty ones, bestowers of strength and of old age, praised your potency and stood by you.
