स्रक्वे॑ द्र॒प्सस्य॒ धम॑तः॒ सम॑स्वरन्नृ॒तस्य॒ योना॒ सम॑रन्त॒ नाभ॑यः । त्रीन्स मू॒र्ध्नो असु॑रश्चक्र आ॒रभे॑ स॒त्यस्य॒ नावः॑ सु॒कृत॑मपीपरन्
srakve drapsasya dhamataḥ samasvarannṛtasya yonā samaranta nābhayaḥ trīnsa mūrdhno asuraścakra ārabhe satyasya nāvaḥ sukṛtamapīparan
From the wellsprings, born of potency, the waters with even voice made the womb of untruth; they bound the navel. Three chiefs crowned the Asura and began the boat of truth; the well‑done deeds filled the hull.

स॒म्यक्स॒म्यञ्चो॑ महि॒षा अ॑हेषत॒ सिन्धो॑रू॒र्मावधि॑ वे॒ना अ॑वीविपन् । मधो॒र्धारा॑भिर्ज॒नय॑न्तो अ॒र्कमित्प्रि॒यामिन्द्र॑स्य त॒न्व॑मवीवृधन्
samyaksamyañco mahiṣā aheṣata sindhorūrmāvadhi venā avīvipan madhordhārābhirjanayanto arkamitpriyāmindrasya tanvamavīvṛdhan
The bulls lowed mightily; the rivers, like waves, were slain; the channels that live moved the stream. The sweetflowing streams begot the radiant disk; Indra’s beloved body grew in strength.

प॒वित्र॑वन्तः॒ परि॒ वाच॑मासते पि॒तैषां॑ प्र॒त्नो अ॒भि र॑क्षति व्र॒तम् । म॒हः स॑मु॒द्रं वरु॑णस्ति॒रो द॑धे॒ धीरा॒ इच्छे॑कुर्ध॒रुणे॑ष्वा॒रभ॑म्
pavitravantaḥ pari vācamāsate pitaiṣāṃ pratno abhi rakṣati vratam mahaḥ samudraṃ varuṇastiro dadhe dhīrā icchekurdharuṇeṣvārabham
The pure ones surround the speech and sit; the fathers’ champion zealously guards the vow. Great Varuna set the wide sea and desired the brave among the harsh ones for beginning.

स॒हस्र॑धा॒रेऽव॒ ते सम॑स्वरन्दि॒वो नाके॒ मधु॑जिह्वा अस॒श्चतः॑ । अस्य॒ स्पशो॒ न नि मि॑षन्ति॒ भूर्ण॑यः प॒देप॑दे पा॒शिनः॑ सन्ति॒ सेत॑वः
sahasradhāre'va te samasvarandivo nāke madhujihvā asaścataḥ asya spaśo na ni miṣanti bhūrṇayaḥ padepade pāśinaḥ santi setavaḥ
With a thousand streams the heavens are spread around you; nectar‑tongued hymns, like a hundred facets. Visible ones do not mix with unborn things; step by step the fetters are bound—these are the dams.

पि॒तुर्मा॒तुरध्या ये स॒मस्व॑रन्नृ॒चा शोच॑न्तः सं॒दह॑न्तो अव्र॒तान् । इन्द्र॑द्विष्टा॒मप॑ धमन्ति मा॒यया॒ त्वच॒मसि॑क्नीं॒ भूम॑नो दि॒वस्परि॑
piturmāturadhyā ye samasvarannṛcā śocantaḥ saṃdahanto avratān indradviṣṭāmapa dhamanti māyayā tvacamasiknīṃ bhūmano divaspari
Those who sing in like voice the fathers and mothers grieve, breaking and burning vows. Indra, enraged, rends the foam; by illusion you shrink, O earth, and divide the heavens.

प्र॒त्नान्माना॒दध्या ये स॒मस्व॑र॒ञ्छ्लोक॑यन्त्रासो रभ॒सस्य॒ मन्त॑वः । अपा॑न॒क्षासो॑ बधि॒रा अ॑हासत ऋ॒तस्य॒ पन्थां॒ न त॑रन्ति दु॒ष्कृतः॑
pratnānmānādadhyā ye samasvarañchlokayantrāso rabhasasya mantavaḥ apānakṣāso badhirā ahāsata ṛtasya panthāṃ na taranti duṣkṛtaḥ
Those who in like voice exult, practicing formulas and charms against wrath, the enemies of heroic deeds—they are bound by the streams; deaf eyes drove them, they did not cross the path of truth, the evildoer.

स॒हस्र॑धारे॒ वित॑ते प॒वित्र॒ आ वाचं॑ पुनन्ति क॒वयो॑ मनी॒षिणः॑ । रु॒द्रास॑ एषामिषि॒रासो॑ अ॒द्रुहः॒ स्पशः॒ स्वञ्चः॑ सु॒दृशो॑ नृ॒चक्ष॑सः
sahasradhāre vitate pavitra ā vācaṃ punanti kavayo manīṣiṇaḥ rudrāsa eṣāmiṣirāso adruhaḥ spaśaḥ svañcaḥ sudṛśo nṛcakṣasaḥ
With a thousand streams the holy ones spread their speech; poets and seers purify it. Rudras, with their fierce roars and flashing eyes, ascended—marvelous, like famed men with human sight.

ऋ॒तस्य॑ गो॒पा न दभा॑य सु॒क्रतु॒स्त्री ष प॒वित्रा॑ हृ॒द्य१॒॑न्तरा द॑धे । वि॒द्वान्स विश्वा॒ भुव॑ना॒भि प॑श्य॒त्यवाजु॑ष्टान्विध्यति क॒र्ते अ॑व्र॒तान्
ṛtasya gopā na dabhāya sukratustrī ṣa pavitrā hṛdya1ntarā dadhe vidvānsa viśvā bhuvanābhi paśyatyavājuṣṭānvidhyati karte avratān
The keeper of order does not refuse the sacred five‑fold woman; learned ones behold all worlds and proclaim rituals rightly done, preserving the vows.

ऋ॒तस्य॒ तन्तु॒र्वित॑तः प॒वित्र॒ आ जि॒ह्वाया॒ अग्रे॒ वरु॑णस्य मा॒यया॑ । धीरा॑श्चि॒त्तत्स॒मिन॑क्षन्त आश॒तात्रा॑ क॒र्तमव॑ पदा॒त्यप्र॑भुः
ṛtasya tanturvitataḥ pavitra ā jihvāyā agre varuṇasya māyayā dhīrāścittatsaminakṣanta āśatātrā kartamava padātyaprabhuḥ
The threads of order are stretched; the sacred one placed at the foremost tongue, by Varuna’s magic. The wise‑minded behold the same and set the feet firmly; the ruler does not fall away.
