dūrādiheva yatsatyaruṇapsuraśiśvitat vi bhānuṃ viśvadhātanat
From afar indeed the truth-smashing (Arun) kindled in waters and like a beam dispersed the light-bearing one, the Sun, universally he scatters.

Men, harness your mind like a chariot with broad exertion; attend to the twin Ashvins’ commands.

To the two youthful ones the steed-prized-wearers have placed the hymn unseen. The messenger spoke the word as he wished.

O city-delighting, beloved of men, the ancient pair, have yielded the city’s rivers. The Kanva clan rejoices in the Ashvins.

Majestic ones, ye of abundant strength and prosperous rule, go forth to the lordly home of the Dasus.

May the Ashvins bestow upon us the hymn, like swift falcons, free from harm; may they come with their horses.

Who threefold from beyond the sky bring all radiant things of heaven; they encircling poured forth the triple light.

Sons, discretely thinking men proclaim the praise; by eloquent words the Ashvins came.

The peoples, armed with sacrificial grass, bearing offerings, have made the oblation; you, Ashvins, perform the rites.

He who for your sweet gifts held the chariot’s rein and yoked the chariot; then drink, O Ashvins.

By him the wealthy were borne to the cattle-stall, to the milking-place, O bright ones; he brought the flowing horses to drink.

May that divine strength, and the floodlike waters of the rivers, the learned ones, be at the ford; they have come to the gate for the journey.

kadā vāṃ taugryo vidhatsamudre jahito narā yadvāṃ ratho vibhiṣpatāt
When will those two chiefs strike down the ocean, O men? when your chariot was smitten by the stormy terror.

yuvaṃ kaṇvāya nāsatyā ṛpiriptāya harmye śaśvadūtīrdaśasyathaḥ
You, Kanva-born, for the Nasatya, in the shining place for the warm offering, constantly send the messenger of the tenth season.

ताभि॒रा या॑तमू॒तिभि॒र्नव्य॑सीभिः सुश॒स्तिभिः॑ । यद्वां॑ वृषण्वसू हु॒वे
tābhirā yātamūtibhirnavyasībhiḥ suśastibhiḥ yadvāṃ vṛṣaṇvasū huve
By those who came with oratory, with new charioteers and well-ordered ones, when you, bestowers of wealth, poured forth.

As the Kanva joyfully approached the beloved treasure, here the Ashvins have kindled the fragrant offering.

As when making ready swift riches among kine and cattle, as when they shone in the sacrificial fees.

ए॒ताव॑द्वां वृषण्वसू॒ अतो॑ वा॒ भूयो॑ अश्विना । गृ॒णन्तः॑ सु॒म्नमी॑महे
etāvadvāṃ vṛṣaṇvasū ato vā bhūyo aśvinā gṛṇantaḥ sumnamīmahe
Thus, O Aśvins, you (like bulls) have strengthened us, or rather again you have; calling, we invoke this auspiciousness.

A chariot, golden-bonded, golden-horsed: bring it, O steadfast ones, to touch the heaven.

You of golden yoke, O ploughmen of the sky, golden are your shafts; both have golden wheels.

By that may our energetic steeds go forward beyond, have passed into consciousness; accept this well-spoken praise of mine.

Carry us hence from afar, O forward-eating Aśvins, you who ravish—grant (to us) the long-sought mortal boon.

Here, O you who bring showers, bear these leaves for us; make firm our right (place) and offspring.

Let the chariot move on with its song as long as this wish remains; the wheel is not bound by the axle.

With a golden-effective chariot flowing, with hands like horses, you quickened us, O Aśvins.

A youthful team roused the steed, whether from the herd or the Aśvins; that desire for pasture is ours.

tā me aśvinā sanīnāṃ vidyātaṃ navānām yathā ciccaidyaḥ kaśuḥ śatamuṣṭrānāṃ dadatsahasrā daśa gonām
May those Aśvins grant me the knowledge of the near and the new; as when thoughtful men gave a hundred camels, a thousand and ten cows.

yo me hiraṇyasaṃdṛśo daśa rājño amaṃhata adhaspadā iccaidyasya kṛṣṭayaścarmamnā abhito janāḥ
He who resembled my gold took ten kings from me; beneath the sky of that thoughtful one were men drawn by (his) wealth and hide.

माकि॑रे॒ना प॒था गा॒द्येने॒मे यन्ति॑ चे॒दयः॑ । अ॒न्यो नेत्सू॒रिरोह॑ते भूरि॒दाव॑त्तरो॒ जनः॑
mākirenā pathā gādyeneme yanti cedayaḥ anyo netsūrirohate bhūridāvattaro janaḥ
Do not cut these roads with harsh speech; others go forth boldly like charioteers; many men turn back more and more.
