य एक॒ इद्धव्य॑श्चर्षणी॒नामिन्द्रं॒ तं गी॒र्भिर॒भ्य॑र्च आ॒भिः । यः पत्य॑ते वृष॒भो वृष्ण्या॑वान्स॒त्यः सत्वा॑ पुरुमा॒यः सह॑स्वान्
ya eka iddhavyaścarṣaṇīnāmindraṃ taṃ gīrbhirabhyarca ābhiḥ yaḥ patyate vṛṣabho vṛṣṇyāvānsatyaḥ satvā purumāyaḥ sahasvān
He who is one, lord of the discerning chariots, to that Indra the singers offered hymns; he who strides like the bull, with swelling vigour, true in being, creator of great powers, grant strength.

तमु॑ नः॒ पूर्वे॑ पि॒तरो॒ नव॑ग्वाः स॒प्त विप्रा॑सो अ॒भि वा॒जय॑न्तः । न॒क्ष॒द्दा॒भं ततु॑रिं पर्वते॒ष्ठामद्रो॑घवाचं म॒तिभिः॒ शवि॑ष्ठम्
tamu naḥ pūrve pitaro navagvāḥ sapta viprāso abhi vājayantaḥ nakṣaddābhaṃ taturiṃ parvateṣṭhāmadroghavācaṃ matibhiḥ śaviṣṭham
May our ancestral fathers of old, newly born, the seven seers advancing with strength, aid us; may the sky shine, the mountains speak their heights, well-minded and excellent by counsels.

तमी॑मह॒ इन्द्र॑मस्य रा॒यः पु॑रु॒वीर॑स्य नृ॒वतः॑ पुरु॒क्षोः । यो अस्कृ॑धोयुर॒जरः॒ स्व॑र्वा॒न्तमा भ॑र हरिवो माद॒यध्यै॑
tamīmaha indramasya rāyaḥ puruvīrasya nṛvataḥ purukṣoḥ yo askṛdhoyurajaraḥ svarvāntamā bhara harivo mādayadhyai
This same realm, O Indra, is the kingdom of the heroic man, the manly fame of the forefathers and the mighty; he who stirred up aged foes, who bore burdens to the heavens, swift to rouse the cows.

तन्नो॒ वि वो॑चो॒ यदि॑ ते पु॒रा चि॑ज्जरि॒तार॑ आन॒शुः सु॒म्नमि॑न्द्र । कस्ते॑ भा॒गः किं वयो॑ दुध्र खिद्वः॒ पुरु॑हूत पुरूवसोऽसुर॒घ्नः
tanno vi voco yadi te purā cijjaritāra ānaśuḥ sumnamindra kaste bhāgaḥ kiṃ vayo dudhra khidvaḥ puruhūta purūvaso'suraghnaḥ
Therefore speak to us if in the past you performed rites, O aged one; what portion is ours? Why are we afflicted—priest, foremost among people, destroyer of enemies?

तं पृ॒च्छन्ती॒ वज्र॑हस्तं रथे॒ष्ठामिन्द्रं॒ वेपी॒ वक्व॑री॒ यस्य॒ नू गीः । तु॒वि॒ग्रा॒भं तु॑विकू॒र्मिं र॑भो॒दां गा॒तुमि॑षे॒ नक्ष॑ते॒ तुम्र॒मच्छ॑
taṃ pṛcchantī vajrahastaṃ ratheṣṭhāmindraṃ vepī vakvarī yasya nū gīḥ tuvigrābhaṃ tuvikūrmiṃ rabhodāṃ gātumiṣe nakṣate tumramaccha
Questioning that thunderer, the mighty one in the foremost chariot, they asked Indra who speaks not; I long to sing his bold strength, his shell and tortoise—O bright one, I would sing thy crimson might.

अ॒या ह॒ त्यं मा॒यया॑ वावृधा॒नं म॑नो॒जुवा॑ स्वतवः॒ पर्व॑तेन । अच्यु॑ता चिद्वीळि॒ता स्वो॑जो रु॒जो वि दृ॒ळ्हा धृ॑ष॒ता वि॑रप्शिन्
ayā ha tyaṃ māyayā vāvṛdhānaṃ manojuvā svatavaḥ parvatena acyutā cidvīḷitā svojo rujo vi dṛḷhā dhṛṣatā virapśin
This bestowing was not by deceit but by mind-born heroes, increasing with sovereign thought from the mountain; unshaken, they moved with lively vigour, resolute and brave.

तं वो॑ धि॒या नव्य॑स्या॒ शवि॑ष्ठं प्र॒त्नं प्र॑त्न॒वत्प॑रितंस॒यध्यै॑ । स नो॑ वक्षदनिमा॒नः सु॒वह्मेन्द्रो॒ विश्वा॒न्यति॑ दु॒र्गहा॑णि
taṃ vo dhiyā navyasyā śaviṣṭhaṃ pratnaṃ pratnavatparitaṃsayadhyai sa no vakṣadanimānaḥ suvahmendro viśvānyati durgahāṇi
Grant to us the freshly formed revered prize, the best of offerings, a striving like striving; may he, renown-giver, speak to us; all-faring, destroyer of forts, accompany us.

आ जना॑य॒ द्रुह्व॑णे॒ पार्थि॑वानि दि॒व्यानि॑ दीपयो॒ऽन्तरि॑क्षा । तपा॑ वृषन्वि॒श्वतः॑ शो॒चिषा॒ तान्ब्र॑ह्म॒द्विषे॑ शोचय॒ क्षाम॒पश्च॑
ā janāya druhvaṇe pārthivāni divyāni dīpayo'ntarikṣā tapā vṛṣanviśvataḥ śociṣā tānbrahmadviṣe śocaya kṣāmapaśca
He caused the divine earthly regions to be born in the strife; the heat of sacrifice spread worldwide; the Brahman-foes distress them; may he calm and forgive.

भुवो॒ जन॑स्य दि॒व्यस्य॒ राजा॒ पार्थि॑वस्य॒ जग॑तस्त्वेषसंदृक् । धि॒ष्व वज्रं॒ दक्षि॑ण इन्द्र॒ हस्ते॒ विश्वा॑ अजुर्य दयसे॒ वि मा॒याः
bhuvo janasya divyasya rājā pārthivasya jagatastveṣasaṃdṛk dhiṣva vajraṃ dakṣiṇa indra haste viśvā ajurya dayase vi māyāḥ
Lord of the divine world and of the earthly king, he beholds the universe; with wisdom he grasped the bolt in his right hand; he threw it, dispelling illusion.

आ सं॒यत॑मिन्द्र णः स्व॒स्तिं श॑त्रु॒तूर्या॑य बृह॒तीममृ॑ध्राम् । यया॒ दासा॒न्यार्या॑णि वृ॒त्रा करो॑ वज्रिन्सु॒तुका॒ नाहु॑षाणि
ā saṃyatamindra ṇaḥ svastiṃ śatrutūryāya bṛhatīmamṛdhrām yayā dāsānyāryāṇi vṛtrā karo vajrinsutukā nāhuṣāṇi
May Indra bind to us welfare, slaying enmity with great might; by which the slaves, the Aryans, the Vṛtra did not prevail—sons of the strong ones are not feeble.

स नो॑ नि॒युद्भिः॑ पुरुहूत वेधो वि॒श्ववा॑राभि॒रा ग॑हि प्रयज्यो । न या अदे॑वो॒ वर॑ते॒ न दे॒व आभि॑र्याहि॒ तूय॒मा म॑द्र्य॒द्रिक्
sa no niyudbhiḥ puruhūta vedho viśvavārābhirā gahi prayajyo na yā adevo varate na deva ābhiryāhi tūyamā madryadrik
May the priests with offerings appoint us; the invokers have seized the sacrifice and offered it. Not by another god is this desired; the god came near—be thou gracious, O Madhyadrika.
