You, Agni, first became the mind and the insight of the priest; you were the sacrificer. You, auspicious, made the strength of bulls and supported all; you are companion in might and in worship.

अधा॒ होता॒ न्य॑सीदो॒ यजी॑यानि॒ळस्प॒द इ॒षय॒न्नीड्यः॒ सन् । तं त्वा॒ नरः॑ प्रथ॒मं दे॑व॒यन्तो॑ म॒हो रा॒ये चि॒तय॑न्तो॒ अनु॑ ग्मन्
adhā hotā nyasīdo yajīyāniḷaspada iṣayannīḍyaḥ san taṃ tvā naraḥ prathamaṃ devayanto maho rāye citayanto anu gman
The priest sat down as the sacrificer; the people desired the ritual like a stir of hoofs. Men, first invoking thee, O Agni, went with great purpose to the realm of worship.

वृ॒तेव॒ यन्तं॑ ब॒हुभि॑र्वस॒व्यै॒३॒॑स्त्वे र॒यिं जा॑गृ॒वांसो॒ अनु॑ ग्मन् । रुश॑न्तम॒ग्निं द॑र्श॒तं बृ॒हन्तं॑ व॒पाव॑न्तं वि॒श्वहा॑ दीदि॒वांस॑म्
vṛteva yantaṃ bahubhirvasavyai3stve rayiṃ jāgṛvāṃso anu gman ruśantamagniṃ darśataṃ bṛhantaṃ vapāvantaṃ viśvahā dīdivāṃsam
They surrounded you with many singers and chanted the wealth; they followed the splendour. They saw Agni, mighty, shining, luminous through the heavens.

प॒दं दे॒वस्य॒ नम॑सा॒ व्यन्तः॑ श्रव॒स्यवः॒ श्रव॑ आप॒न्नमृ॑क्तम् । नामा॑नि चिद्दधिरे य॒ज्ञिया॑नि भ॒द्रायां॑ ते रणयन्त॒ संदृ॑ष्टौ
padaṃ devasya namasā vyantaḥ śravasyavaḥ śrava āpannamṛktam nāmāni ciddadhire yajñiyāni bhadrāyāṃ te raṇayanta saṃdṛṣṭau
The foot of the god, with reverence, brought the immortal savor of hearing. Names indeed the ritualists set within the auspicious — they invoked you having beheld the arrangement.

त्वां व॑र्धन्ति क्षि॒तयः॑ पृथि॒व्यां त्वां राय॑ उ॒भया॑सो॒ जना॑नाम् । त्वं त्रा॒ता त॑रणे॒ चेत्यो॑ भूः पि॒ता मा॒ता सद॒मिन्मानु॑षाणाम्
tvāṃ vardhanti kṣitayaḥ pṛthivyāṃ tvāṃ rāya ubhayāso janānām tvaṃ trātā taraṇe cetyo bhūḥ pitā mātā sadaminmānuṣāṇām
The realms increase you on earth; you are the king among both peoples. You are the protector in crossings, the bright one of the world, father and mother to mortals.

स॒प॒र्येण्यः॒ स प्रि॒यो वि॒क्ष्व१॒॑ग्निर्होता॑ म॒न्द्रो नि ष॑सादा॒ यजी॑यान् । तं त्वा॑ व॒यं दम॒ आ दी॑दि॒वांस॒मुप॑ ज्ञु॒बाधो॒ नम॑सा सदेम
saparyeṇyaḥ sa priyo vikṣva1gnirhotā mandro ni ṣasādā yajīyān taṃ tvā vayaṃ dama ā dīdivāṃsamupa jñubādho namasā sadema
Fitting offerings — Agni the hoṭa, loving, sat by with mildness and acceptances. We, with devotion, know thee among the shining gods; we bow in worship to the spread of heaven.

तं त्वा॑ व॒यं सु॒ध्यो॒३॒॑ नव्य॑मग्ने सुम्ना॒यव॑ ईमहे देव॒यन्तः॑ । त्वं विशो॑ अनयो॒ दीद्या॑नो दि॒वो अ॑ग्ने बृह॒ता रो॑च॒नेन॑
taṃ tvā vayaṃ sudhyo3 navyamagne sumnāyava īmahe devayantaḥ tvaṃ viśo anayo dīdyāno divo agne bṛhatā rocanena
We invoke thee, Agni, anew, youthful, gracious; you who brighten the worlds, who give radiance to the heavens. You, lord of space, the shining god, are greater in glowing splendour.

वि॒शां क॒विं वि॒श्पतिं॒ शश्व॑तीनां नि॒तोश॑नं वृष॒भं च॑र्षणी॒नाम् । प्रेती॑षणिमि॒षय॑न्तं पाव॒कं राज॑न्तम॒ग्निं य॑ज॒तं र॑यी॒णाम्
viśāṃ kaviṃ viśpatiṃ śaśvatīnāṃ nitośanaṃ vṛṣabhaṃ carṣaṇīnām pretīṣaṇimiṣayantaṃ pāvakaṃ rājantamagniṃ yajataṃ rayīṇām
The seer of wide realms, the lord of hosts, the eternal one, the bull among the dwellers; the presiding, kindling, banquet-giving Agni offered by the singers, the beloved of the worshippers.

सो अ॑ग्न ईजे शश॒मे च॒ मर्तो॒ यस्त॒ आन॑ट् स॒मिधा॑ ह॒व्यदा॑तिम् । य आहु॑तिं॒ परि॒ वेदा॒ नमो॑भि॒र्विश्वेत्स वा॒मा द॑धते॒ त्वोतः॑
so agna īje śaśame ca marto yasta ānaṭ samidhā havyadātim ya āhutiṃ pari vedā namobhirviśvetsa vāmā dadhate tvotaḥ
Agni is the living, the man who gives faith to rites — he who keeps the fuel and bestows oblation. He who knows the offering fully, with respect he turns it to the left and assigns you honor.

अ॒स्मा उ॑ ते॒ महि॑ म॒हे वि॑धेम॒ नमो॑भिरग्ने स॒मिधो॒त ह॒व्यैः । वेदी॑ सूनो सहसो गी॒र्भिरु॒क्थैरा ते॑ भ॒द्रायां॑ सुम॒तौ य॑तेम
asmā u te mahi mahe vidhema namobhiragne samidhota havyaiḥ vedī sūno sahaso gīrbhirukthairā te bhadrāyāṃ sumatau yatema
May we, with thy great offerings, O Agni, and the oblations, be honored by thy hymns. May the sons of the altar, with sudden speech and songs, bring us to the auspicious counsel.

आ यस्त॒तन्थ॒ रोद॑सी॒ वि भा॒सा श्रवो॑भिश्च श्रव॒स्य१॒॑स्तरु॑त्रः । बृ॒हद्भि॒र्वाजैः॒ स्थवि॑रेभिर॒स्मे रे॒वद्भि॑रग्ने वित॒रं वि भा॑हि
ā yastatantha rodasī vi bhāsā śravobhiśca śravasya1starutraḥ bṛhadbhirvājaiḥ sthavirebhirasme revadbhiragne vitaraṃ vi bhāhi
He who shed tears and shone in light with the voice and the listener — with mighty hymns and steadfast chants, O Agni, bring us forth with abundant cows and riches.

नृ॒वद्व॑सो॒ सद॒मिद्धे॑ह्य॒स्मे भूरि॑ तो॒काय॒ तन॑याय प॒श्वः । पू॒र्वीरिषो॑ बृह॒तीरा॒रेअ॑घा अ॒स्मे भ॒द्रा सौ॑श्रव॒सानि॑ सन्तु
nṛvadvaso sadamiddhehyasme bhūri tokāya tanayāya paśvaḥ pūrvīriṣo bṛhatīrāreaghā asme bhadrā sauśravasāni santu
Be to us a people-possessor, O god, a plentiful body; bestow many herds and progeny upon us. May noble songs, more powerful than before, be our famous blessings.

पु॒रूण्य॑ग्ने पुरु॒धा त्वा॒या वसू॑नि राजन्व॒सुता॑ ते अश्याम् । पु॒रूणि॒ हि त्वे पु॑रुवार॒ सन्त्यग्ने॒ वसु॑ विध॒ते राज॑नि॒ त्वे
purūṇyagne purudhā tvāyā vasūni rājanvasutā te aśyām purūṇi hi tve puruvāra santyagne vasu vidhate rājani tve
O Puruṇyagni, foremost among men, by thee the riches and treasures are established, O king-born; indeed in thee the dwellers in cities are mighty, O Agni, the distributer of wealth in royal gatherings.
