The priest sat down as the sacrificer; the people desired the ritual like a stir of hoofs. Men, first invoking thee, O Agni, went with great purpose to the realm of worship.
Offerer of the oblation, frequent celebrator of sacrifice, now sit down on the foot-m ark of Iḷā, accepting the (sacrirficial) food, and being glorified; devout men, expectant of great riches, have recourse to you as to the first (of the gods).
As Priest thou sattest at the seat of worship, furthering us, best Offerer, meet for honour. So first to thee have pious men resorted, turning thy mind to thoughts of ample riches.
