अग्ने॒ शर्ध॑न्त॒मा ग॒णं पि॒ष्टं रु॒क्मेभि॑र॒ञ्जिभिः॑ । विशो॑ अ॒द्य म॒रुता॒मव॑ ह्वये दि॒वश्चि॑द्रोच॒नादधि॑
agne śardhantamā gaṇaṃ piṣṭaṃ rukmebhirañjibhiḥ viśo adya marutāmava hvaye divaścidrocanādadhi
Agni, come forth; stir the gathered host with golden limbs. Invoke today the Maruts with clarified mind, with heaven and with offering to the bright place.

यथा॑ चि॒न्मन्य॑से हृ॒दा तदिन्मे॑ जग्मुरा॒शसः॑ । ये ते॒ नेदि॑ष्ठं॒ हव॑नान्या॒गम॒न्तान्व॑र्ध भी॒मसं॑दृशः
yathā cinmanyase hṛdā tadinme jagmurāśasaḥ ye te nediṣṭhaṃ havanānyāgamantānvardha bhīmasaṃdṛśaḥ
As you think in your heart, so did those hostile ones proceed toward me; they went to the place of sacrifice not hostile, growing like the terrible ones.

मी॒ळ्हुष्म॑तीव पृथि॒वी परा॑हता॒ मद॑न्त्येत्य॒स्मदा । ऋक्षो॒ न वो॑ मरुतः॒ शिमी॑वा॒ँ अमो॑ दु॒ध्रो गौरि॑व भीम॒युः
mīḷhuṣmatīva pṛthivī parāhatā madantyetyasmadā ṛkṣo na vo marutaḥ śimīvām̐ amo dudhro gauriva bhīmayuḥ
The mighty earth is driven forward; they overturn us. The bears (rishis?) are not for you; the Maruts roar like bees; O gods, ward off the fierce ones with udders like cows.

नि ये रि॒णन्त्योज॑सा॒ वृथा॒ गावो॒ न दु॒र्धुरः॑ । अश्मा॑नं चित्स्व॒र्यं१॒॑ पर्व॑तं गि॒रिं प्र च्या॑वयन्ति॒ याम॑भिः
ni ye riṇantyojasā vṛthā gāvo na durdhuraḥ aśmānaṃ citsvaryaṃ1 parvataṃ giriṃ pra cyāvayanti yāmabhiḥ
Those who, light in vigor, drive kine in vain not hard to move; stones, radiant with sun, and the mountain, they scatter with the shafts of the year.

उत्ति॑ष्ठ नू॒नमे॑षां॒ स्तोमैः॒ समु॑क्षितानाम् । म॒रुतां॑ पुरु॒तम॒मपू॑र्व्यं॒ गवां॒ सर्ग॑मिव ह्वये
uttiṣṭha nūnameṣāṃ stomaiḥ samukṣitānām marutāṃ purutamamapūrvyaṃ gavāṃ sargamiva hvaye
Arise, surely, you who are upheld by these hymns; like the foregone forefront of the Maruts, I call you forth as the begetter of cows.

यु॒ङ्ग्ध्वं ह्यरु॑षी॒ रथे॑ यु॒ङ्ग्ध्वं रथे॑षु रो॒हितः॑ । यु॒ङ्ग्ध्वं हरी॑ अजि॒रा धु॒रि वोळ्ह॑वे॒ वहि॑ष्ठा धु॒रि वोळ्ह॑वे
yuṅgdhvaṃ hyaruṣī rathe yuṅgdhvaṃ ratheṣu rohitaḥ yuṅgdhvaṃ harī ajirā dhuri voḷhave vahiṣṭhā dhuri voḷhave
Yoke the steeds, O charioteer; yoke them to the chariot, O Rohita. Yoke the swift, wide-breasted horses; harness them that they may run forth, bearers of you on the chariot’s axle.

उ॒त स्य वा॒ज्य॑रु॒षस्तु॑वि॒ष्वणि॑रि॒ह स्म॑ धायि दर्श॒तः । मा वो॒ यामे॑षु मरुतश्चि॒रं क॑र॒त्प्र तं रथे॑षु चोदत
uta sya vājyaruṣastuviṣvaṇiriha sma dhāyi darśataḥ mā vo yāmeṣu marutaściraṃ karatpra taṃ ratheṣu codata
May he (the Marut) who has been borne away, swift in strength, come to you with the shining ones; do not let the Maruts stay long away from your mates or from the chariot-drivers.

रथं॒ नु मारु॑तं व॒यं श्र॑व॒स्युमा हु॑वामहे । आ यस्मि॑न्त॒स्थौ सु॒रणा॑नि॒ बिभ्र॑ती॒ सचा॑ म॒रुत्सु॑ रोद॒सी
rathaṃ nu mārutaṃ vayaṃ śravasyumā huvāmahe ā yasmintasthau suraṇāni bibhratī sacā marutsu rodasī
We invoke the Marut who are like a chariot, O heavenly ones; they bear here the prosperous bays which dwell in them—the noble ones who shine among the Maruts at dawn.

तं वः॒ शर्धं॑ रथे॒शुभं॑ त्वे॒षं प॑न॒स्युमा हु॑वे । यस्मि॒न्सुजा॑ता सु॒भगा॑ मही॒यते॒ सचा॑ म॒रुत्सु॑ मीळ्हु॒षी
taṃ vaḥ śardhaṃ ratheśubhaṃ tveṣaṃ panasyumā huve yasminsujātā subhagā mahīyate sacā marutsu mīḷhuṣī
I invoke for you the friendly, chariot-like Marut who bestows good fortune; in whose born sons prosperity is established—those companions of the Maruts who are gladdening.
