The unobstructed priest placed the noble Agni among the worshipful ones; the slow-moving fire, attentive among the rites. May these same ones lift the sun upward, like Savitar, and raise this smoke as an offering to the sky.

As the night, abundant in clarified butter, circles around the deities, the youthful one with ninefold radiance—nose-like, a beastlike splendor—has come praised and steadfast, one in essence.

On the fragrant altar, when the fuel was set, Agni stood high and low, the vigorous sacrificer firmly placed. Surrounding him, the protector of cattle, the priest who brings threefold invocations, made the offering of the chest.

Surrounded by its own soul, the steadfast Agni, slow-moving, spoke sweet words in the seasons. The vigorous ones streaming forth—those possessing strength—fear neither sorrow nor dread; all the worlds which the cloud covers are theirs.
