bhadrā te agne svanīka saṃdṛgghorasya sato viṣuṇasya cāruḥ na yatte śocistamasā varanta na dhvasmānastanvī3 repa ā dhuḥ
May good things be yours, Agni, protector and bright, fierce of sight, fairest among the harmful—do not let sorrow arise for you; darkness does not overcome your form; you are not consumed.
Bright-shining, Agni, beautiful and auspicious is the semblance of you who are terrible and wide-spreading, for (the nights) hide not your splendour with darkness, nor do the malignant (spirits) inflict any injury on your person n.
Beautiful and auspicious is thine aspect, O lovely Agni, terrible when spreading. Thy splendours are not covered by the darkness: detraction leaves no stain upon thy body.
