इन्द्रः॑ पू॒र्भिदाति॑र॒द्दास॑म॒र्कैर्वि॒दद्व॑सु॒र्दय॑मानो॒ वि शत्रू॑न् । ब्रह्म॑जूतस्त॒न्वा॑ वावृधा॒नो भूरि॑दात्र॒ आपृ॑ण॒द्रोद॑सी उ॒भे
indraḥ pūrbhidātiraddāsamarkairvidadvasurdayamāno vi śatrūn brahmajūtastanvā vāvṛdhāno bhūridātra āpṛṇadrodasī ubhe
Indra, bestower in former time, gave up the captive with the gleaming suns, distributing the treasures and striking down foes; Brahma‑born, he increased the kine, greatly tending both streams and waters.

म॒खस्य॑ ते तवि॒षस्य॒ प्र जू॒तिमिय॑र्मि॒ वाच॑म॒मृता॑य॒ भूष॑न् । इन्द्र॑ क्षिती॒नाम॑सि॒ मानु॑षीणां वि॒शां दैवी॑नामु॒त पू॑र्व॒यावा॑
makhasya te taviṣasya pra jūtimiyarmi vācamamṛtāya bhūṣan indra kṣitīnāmasi mānuṣīṇāṃ viśāṃ daivīnāmuta pūrvayāvā
To that mighty one of intoxicating might I have sung a song of fame, adorning the tireless word for the immortals; Indra, protector of earth‑folk and of men, first among the divine hosts.

इन्द्रो॑ वृ॒त्रम॑वृणो॒च्छर्ध॑नीतिः॒ प्र मा॒यिना॑ममिना॒द्वर्प॑णीतिः । अह॒न्व्यं॑समु॒शध॒ग्वने॑ष्वा॒विर्धेना॑ अकृणोद्रा॒म्याणा॑म्
indro vṛtramavṛṇocchardhanītiḥ pra māyināmaminādvarpaṇītiḥ ahanvyaṃsamuśadhagvaneṣvāvirdhenā akṛṇodrāmyāṇām
Indra uncovered Vritra with stratagem and brought the spoils forth by the craft of his mind; he gave to the worshippers the rain, poured the wealth, and made the joyful streams to flow.

indraḥ svarṣā janayannahāni jigāyośigbhiḥ pṛtanā abhiṣṭiḥ prārocayanmanave ketumahnāmavindajjyotirbṛhate raṇāya
Indra created thunder and ruin, brought forth strength born of exertion, and with his might made the banner‑signs shine; he revealed the great light for battle, the radiant reward for the warrior’s day.

इन्द्र॒स्तुजो॑ ब॒र्हणा॒ आ वि॑वेश नृ॒वद्दधा॑नो॒ नर्या॑ पु॒रूणि॑ । अचे॑तय॒द्धिय॑ इ॒मा ज॑रि॒त्रे प्रेमं वर्ण॑मतिरच्छु॒क्रमा॑साम्
indrastujo barhaṇā ā viveśa nṛvaddadhāno naryā purūṇi acetayaddhiya imā jaritre premaṃ varṇamatiracchukramāsām
Indra, with loud acclaim, entered the well‑struck place and gave manly treasures to men; the skillful ones appointed these protective rites—he made these garments of fame and the order of months.

म॒हो म॒हानि॑ पनयन्त्य॒स्येन्द्र॑स्य॒ कर्म॒ सुकृ॑ता पु॒रूणि॑ । वृ॒जने॑न वृजि॒नान्सं पि॑पेष मा॒याभि॒र्दस्यू॑ँर॒भिभू॑त्योजाः
maho mahāni panayantyasyendrasya karma sukṛtā purūṇi vṛjanena vṛjinānsaṃ pipeṣa māyābhirdasyūm̐rabhibhūtyojāḥ
Great deeds nourish mighty Indra; many well-done acts fill him. With the spoil taken from the cattle‑raiders they bestowed strength and vigor upon him.

यु॒धेन्द्रो॑ म॒ह्ना वरि॑वश्चकार दे॒वेभ्यः॒ सत्प॑तिश्चर्षणि॒प्राः । वि॒वस्व॑तः॒ सद॑ने अस्य॒ तानि॒ विप्रा॑ उ॒क्थेभिः॑ क॒वयो॑ गृणन्ति
yudhendro mahnā varivaścakāra devebhyaḥ satpatiścarṣaṇiprāḥ vivasvataḥ sadane asya tāni viprā ukthebhiḥ kavayo gṛṇanti
Indra, the lord of battles, with mighty deeds bestowed abundance on the gods; the well‑moving chariot brought prosperity. Poets sing in hymns the boons from Vivasvat's seat.

स॒त्रा॒साहं॒ वरे॑ण्यं सहो॒दां स॑स॒वांसं॒ स्व॑र॒पश्च॑ दे॒वीः । स॒सान॒ यः पृ॑थि॒वीं द्यामु॒तेमामिन्द्रं॑ मद॒न्त्यनु॒ धीर॑णासः
satrāsāhaṃ vareṇyaṃ sahodāṃ sasavāṃsaṃ svarapaśca devīḥ sasāna yaḥ pṛthivīṃ dyāmutemāmindraṃ madantyanu dhīraṇāsaḥ
I am the loved protector, best of friends, companion of strong ones, the goddesses' helper in sacrifice. Whoever guards earth and sky follows Indra with brave hearts.

स॒सानात्या॑ँ उ॒त सूर्यं॑ ससा॒नेन्द्रः॑ ससान पुरु॒भोज॑सं॒ गाम् । हि॒र॒ण्यय॑मु॒त भोगं॑ ससान ह॒त्वी दस्यू॒न्प्रार्यं॒ वर्ण॑मावत्
sasānātyām̐ uta sūryaṃ sasānendraḥ sasāna purubhojasaṃ gām hiraṇyayamuta bhogaṃ sasāna hatvī dasyūnprāryaṃ varṇamāvat
At the sacrificial seat they sent forth the sun and Indra with the priests; they drove the numerous herds. They gave golden wealth as portion; the slayers of foes took the spoils and divided the ranks.

इन्द्र॒ ओष॑धीरसनो॒दहा॑नि॒ वन॒स्पती॑ँरसनोद॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । बि॒भेद॑ व॒लं नु॑नु॒दे विवा॒चोऽथा॑भवद्दमि॒ताभिक्र॑तूनाम्
indra oṣadhīrasanodahāni vanaspatīm̐rasanodantarikṣam bibheda valaṃ nunude vivāco'thābhavaddamitābhikratūnām
Indra cleft herbs, waters, and trees, and the sky between; he broke the barrier of might, indeed the voice of strength was produced by his bold deeds against the knee‑pressing foes.

शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ । शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम्
śunaṃ huvema maghavānamindramasminbhare nṛtamaṃ vājasātau śaṛṇvantamugramūtaye samatsu ghnantaṃ vṛtrāṇi saṃjitaṃ dhanānām
We invoke the heroic Indra with praise in the twofold hymn, filling him with wealth and the dance of victory. Hear the mighty calls that smote Vritra and granted the spoil of treasures.
