आ॒शुः शिशा॑नो वृष॒भो न भी॒मो घ॑नाघ॒नः क्षोभ॑णश्चर्षणी॒नाम् । सं॒क्रन्द॑नोऽनिमि॒ष ए॑कवी॒रः श॒तं सेना॑ अजयत्सा॒कमिन्द्रः॑
āśuḥ śiśāno vṛṣabho na bhīmo ghanāghanaḥ kṣobhaṇaścarṣaṇīnām saṃkrandano'nimiṣa ekavīraḥ śataṃ senā ajayatsākamindraḥ
Swift of lustre, the bull Shishana, not fearful, thunderous and convulsing, hated the tramplers. With a single blink the heroic breaker of hosts crushed a hundred armies—Indra, victor with his comrades.

सं॒क्रन्द॑नेनानिमि॒षेण॑ जि॒ष्णुना॑ युत्का॒रेण॑ दुश्च्यव॒नेन॑ धृ॒ष्णुना॑ । तदिन्द्रे॑ण जयत॒ तत्स॑हध्वं॒ युधो॑ नर॒ इषु॑हस्तेन॒ वृष्णा॑
saṃkrandanenānimiṣeṇa jiṣṇunā yutkāreṇa duścyavanena dhṛṣṇunā tadindreṇa jayata tatsahadhvaṃ yudho nara iṣuhastena vṛṣṇā
With a single cry and blink, the valiant one, with loud acclaim and with fierce onslaught, subdued the evil foe. By Indra was that victory won; together with him the men fought, the host bearing shields.

स इषु॑हस्तैः॒ स नि॑ष॒ङ्गिभि॑र्व॒शी संस्र॑ष्टा॒ स युध॒ इन्द्रो॑ ग॒णेन॑ । सं॒सृ॒ष्ट॒जित्सो॑म॒पा बा॑हुश॒र्ध्यु१॒॑ग्रध॑न्वा॒ प्रति॑हिताभि॒रस्ता॑
sa iṣuhastaiḥ sa niṣaṅgibhirvaśī saṃsraṣṭā sa yudha indro gaṇena saṃsṛṣṭajitsomapā bāhuśardhyu1gradhanvā pratihitābhirastā
He, with shield-bearing spear-men, loosened binding cords; Indra fought with his band. With Soma's victorious strength were the born-heroes created; strong-armed bowmen, earnest in purpose.

बृह॑स्पते॒ परि॑ दीया॒ रथे॑न रक्षो॒हामित्रा॑ँ अप॒बाध॑मानः । प्र॒भ॒ञ्जन्सेनाः॑ प्रमृ॒णो यु॒धा जय॑न्न॒स्माक॑मेध्यवि॒ता रथा॑नाम्
bṛhaspate pari dīyā rathena rakṣohāmitrām̐ apabādhamānaḥ prabhañjansenāḥ pramṛṇo yudhā jayannasmākamedhyavitā rathānām
O Brhaspati, gird the chariot with a span; I guard the friends, pressing upon the foe. Armies were rent and perished, victorious in fight; may the steeds of our chariots be our beloved rulers.

ब॒ल॒वि॒ज्ञा॒यः स्थवि॑रः॒ प्रवी॑रः॒ सह॑स्वान्वा॒जी सह॑मान उ॒ग्रः । अ॒भिवी॑रो अ॒भिस॑त्वा सहो॒जा जैत्र॑मिन्द्र॒ रथ॒मा ति॑ष्ठ गो॒वित्
balavijñāyaḥ sthaviraḥ pravīraḥ sahasvānvājī sahamāna ugraḥ abhivīro abhisatvā sahojā jaitramindra rathamā tiṣṭha govit
Mighty in strength, steadfast, valiant, the roarer with comrades—bold, fierce in conflict. Brave ones advanced together; Indra, victorious in the chariot, stood like a leader of kine.

गो॒त्र॒भिदं॑ गो॒विदं॒ वज्र॑बाहुं॒ जय॑न्त॒मज्म॑ प्रमृ॒णन्त॒मोज॑सा । इ॒मं स॑जाता॒ अनु॑ वीरयध्व॒मिन्द्रं॑ सखायो॒ अनु॒ सं र॑भध्वम्
gotrabhidaṃ govidaṃ vajrabāhuṃ jayantamajma pramṛṇantamojasā imaṃ sajātā anu vīrayadhvamindraṃ sakhāyo anu saṃ rabhadhvam
This lineage of cow-herds, this herdsman, with thunder-arm and conquering might, slew the foe with vigorous strength. O comrades, follow Indra our ally; rally around him as he advances.

अ॒भि गो॒त्राणि॒ सह॑सा॒ गाह॑मानोऽद॒यो वी॒रः श॒तम॑न्यु॒रिन्द्रः॑ । दु॒श्च्य॒व॒नः पृ॑तना॒षाळ॑यु॒ध्यो॒३॒॑ऽस्माकं॒ सेना॑ अवतु॒ प्र यु॒त्सु
abhi gotrāṇi sahasā gāhamāno'dayo vīraḥ śatamanyurindraḥ duścyavanaḥ pṛtanāṣāḷayudhyo3'smākaṃ senā avatu pra yutsu
Grasping the herds together, the warrior of many thousands, Indra of a hundred minds, hurled down the mischief-makers. The wicked, destructive ones were stricken; may our army be guarded in the fight.

इन्द्र॑ आसां ने॒ता बृह॒स्पति॒र्दक्षि॑णा य॒ज्ञः पु॒र ए॑तु॒ सोमः॑ । दे॒व॒से॒नाना॑मभिभञ्जती॒नां जय॑न्तीनां म॒रुतो॑ य॒न्त्वग्र॑म्
indra āsāṃ netā bṛhaspatirdakṣiṇā yajñaḥ pura etu somaḥ devasenānāmabhibhañjatīnāṃ jayantīnāṃ maruto yantvagram
Indra, leader; Brhaspati, the priest; bring the right-hand sacrifice forward, Soma come to the city. The Maruts lead the hosts of many gods; may they go foremost and victorious.

इन्द्र॑स्य॒ वृष्णो॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ राज्ञ॑ आदि॒त्यानां॑ म॒रुतां॒ शर्ध॑ उ॒ग्रम् । म॒हाम॑नसां भुवनच्य॒वानां॒ घोषो॑ दे॒वानां॒ जय॑ता॒मुद॑स्थात्
indrasya vṛṣṇo varuṇasya rājña ādityānāṃ marutāṃ śardha ugram mahāmanasāṃ bhuvanacyavānāṃ ghoṣo devānāṃ jayatāmudasthāt
Indra's host, Varuna's kingship, the Adityas and the Maruts mighty and fierce—may the shout of the gods, the great-minded world-renewers, rise up victorious.

उद्ध॑र्षय मघव॒न्नायु॑धा॒न्युत्सत्व॑नां माम॒कानां॒ मनां॑सि । उद्वृ॑त्रहन्वा॒जिनां॒ वाजि॑ना॒न्युद्रथा॑नां॒ जय॑तां यन्तु॒ घोषाः॑
uddharṣaya maghavannāyudhānyutsatvanāṃ māmakānāṃ manāṃsi udvṛtrahanvājināṃ vājinānyudrathānāṃ jayatāṃ yantu ghoṣāḥ
Raise the spoils, the splendid wealth, O wielder of life, in the minds of my kin. May the shouts and songs of the slayers of Vritra, of the champions who rush with steeds and weapons, come and attain victory.

अ॒स्माक॒मिन्द्रः॒ समृ॑तेषु ध्व॒जेष्व॒स्माकं॒ या इष॑व॒स्ता ज॑यन्तु । अ॒स्माकं॑ वी॒रा उत्त॑रे भवन्त्व॒स्माँ उ॑ देवा अवता॒ हवे॑षु
asmākamindraḥ samṛteṣu dhvajeṣvasmākaṃ yā iṣavastā jayantu asmākaṃ vīrā uttare bhavantvasmām̐ u devā avatā haveṣu
May Indra in our glorious standards, may the spoils won by us be triumphant. May our heroes become northern, and may the gods take us under their protection in the sacrificial rites.

अ॒मीषां॑ चि॒त्तं प्र॑तिलो॒भय॑न्ती गृहा॒णाङ्गा॑न्यप्वे॒ परे॑हि । अ॒भि प्रेहि॒ निर्द॑ह हृ॒त्सु शोकै॑र॒न्धेना॒मित्रा॒स्तम॑सा सचन्ताम्
amīṣāṃ cittaṃ pratilobhayantī gṛhāṇāṅgānyapve parehi abhi prehi nirdaha hṛtsu śokairandhenāmitrāstamasā sacantām
They sought to seize the thoughts of our enemies, carrying off limbs and houses to foreign hands. Send them forth, burn their hearts with sorrows; let darkness and hostile night overtake them.

प्रेता॒ जय॑ता नर॒ इन्द्रो॑ वः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छतु । उ॒ग्रा वः॑ सन्तु बा॒हवो॑ऽनाधृ॒ष्या यथास॑थ
pretā jayatā nara indro vaḥ śarma yacchatu ugrā vaḥ santu bāhavo'nādhṛṣyā yathāsatha
May Indra, victorious over the departed, grant you salvation and splendor. May your arms be vigorous and strong as before, as you were when fierce in might.
