मरु॑तो॒ यस्य॒ हि क्षये॑ पा॒था दि॒वो वि॑महसः । स सु॑गो॒पात॑मो॒ जनः॑
maruto yasya hi kṣaye pāthā divo vimahasaḥ sa sugopātamo janaḥ
Of Marut is he whose path in decay is the way of heaven and storm; he is the best protector of men.

य॒ज्ञैर्वा॑ यज्ञवाहसो॒ विप्र॑स्य वा मती॒नाम् । मरु॑तः शृणु॒ता हव॑म्
yajñairvā yajñavāhaso viprasya vā matīnām marutaḥ śaṛṇutā havam
Whether by sacrifices or by sacrificial ministers, or by the counsel of the wise—Harken to the Maruts, O offerer of oblations.

उ॒त वा॒ यस्य॑ वा॒जिनोऽनु॒ विप्र॒मत॑क्षत । स गन्ता॒ गोम॑ति व्र॒जे
uta vā yasya vājino'nu vipramatakṣata sa gantā gomati vraje
Or whether his followers moved after him—he goes to the rich pastures and grazes the cows.

अ॒स्य वी॒रस्य॑ ब॒र्हिषि॑ सु॒तः सोमो॒ दिवि॑ष्टिषु । उ॒क्थं मद॑श्च शस्यते
asya vīrasya barhiṣi sutaḥ somo diviṣṭiṣu ukthaṃ madaśca śasyate
For that hero, in the sacrifice’s clarified butter, Soma was poured in the heavens; the hymn and the mead rejoice him.

अ॒स्य श्रो॑ष॒न्त्वा भुवो॒ विश्वा॒ यश्च॑र्ष॒णीर॒भि । सूरं॑ चित्स॒स्रुषी॒रिषः॑
asya śroṣantvā bhuvo viśvā yaścarṣaṇīrabhi sūraṃ citsasruṣīriṣaḥ
Hearing him all the worlds were delighted; and the bright-armed, the thousand‑headed, were mindful of glory.

पू॒र्वीभि॒र्हि द॑दाशि॒म श॒रद्भि॑र्मरुतो व॒यम् । अवो॑भिश्चर्षणी॒नाम्
pūrvībhirhi dadāśima śaradbhirmaruto vayam avobhiścarṣaṇīnām
With the earlier ones I gave; with the autumnal ones we, O Maruts, gave strength to the cattle and to the grazing flocks.

सु॒भगः॒ स प्र॑यज्यवो॒ मरु॑तो अस्तु॒ मर्त्यः॑ । यस्य॒ प्रयां॑सि॒ पर्ष॑थ
subhagaḥ sa prayajyavo maruto astu martyaḥ yasya prayāṃsi parṣatha
May the auspicious Maruts grant you spirit; mortal, may he who urges you on grant protection when you advance.

श॒श॒मा॒नस्य॑ वा नरः॒ स्वेद॑स्य सत्यशवसः । वि॒दा काम॑स्य॒ वेन॑तः
śaśamānasya vā naraḥ svedasya satyaśavasaḥ vidā kāmasya venataḥ
For the one who is with measured breath, for the man whose sweat is of truth and of noble song, he became the fulfiller of desire like a strong charioteer.

यू॒यं तत्स॑त्यशवस आ॒विष्क॑र्त महित्व॒ना । विध्य॑ता वि॒द्युता॒ रक्षः॑
yūyaṃ tatsatyaśavasa āviṣkarta mahitvanā vidhyatā vidyutā rakṣaḥ
You, O truthful in song, revealed with greatness; ordained, resplendent guardian.

गूह॑ता॒ गुह्यं॒ तमो॒ वि या॑त॒ विश्व॑म॒त्रिण॑म् । ज्योति॑ष्कर्ता॒ यदु॒श्मसि॑
gūhatā guhyaṃ tamo vi yāta viśvamatriṇam jyotiṣkartā yaduśmasi
Hidden, the hidden darkness went forth to encompass all beings; the maker of light who removes your foes.
